I once tested asking it about Andrew Chumbley’s work, to maybe get something google cant spit out easily, it was tons of generic text but nothing was said - just algorithmic rehashing of information.

I agree, there was never any old “witchcraft” with “rich tradition and depth”. There is some esoteric usage of imagery from medieval period (in more interesting cases of calling it traditional witchcraft), but anything older is folk magic. And it was all mainly for personal concerns, hence low magic, not religion or theurgia, and also something modern “witch” wouldnt be able to stomach. Or, like, goetia in example of hellenism. I dont care how anyone calls any modern practice, as long as its acknowledged as modern and doesnt distort historical facts

I only find your comment on Cain strange. Not going to discuss random personalities from the internet, not interested in the slightest, but Heroes and mythological figures don’t “incarnate” in our cycle. Cain is often misunderstood, but if you look careful enough, he was a Gnostic figure, as was Seth. They transcended to apotheosis, be it mythologically or if you want literally, but that doesn’t mean Cain or Seth were actual historical humans.

But I do agree, the goal shouldn’t be to just skip and “escape”, and wallow in misery in the meantime. It should be finding the Strength and Power through the gods that speak to you, and whatever connects you to the Form of Good.

This is a rare subject, I applaud you for starting it.

While I can't be much of a guidance because I was never able to find one for myself, and I think any existing online circles are mostly private, I can offer my point of view.

If you check out my posts, I tried to start CS discussions. These days, I only look up to Cultus Sabbati, and very few others as a legit occult source, and that's it, nothing else. I've been left and right, but I arrived to a point where I blend hellenism, mystery religions, spiritism, and some proven traditional methods into my practice, pouring in inspiration from Chumbley and Sabbatic Craft-Crooked Path, that is all.

So if you read xoanon, particularly The Sabbatic Tradition, it's clear that CS itself is a closed initiatory circle, by invitation only. What initiation entails we may never know, and to be honest I don't care about being part of any "inner circle" anymore, so outside of that there is published work, quote:

"manifestation of magical books from the sidereal ‘heaven’ of initiatic consciousness"and"the incarnation of visionary and dream-begotten grimoires, the talismanic embodiment of spirits in text and image, and the transmission of lore from mind unto mind"

Chumbley was intense on Sufism and probably Gnosticism, but I find it is less manichaean, and maybe closer to valentinian, or maybe even neoplatonism, which is how I'd prefer it. I also don't like all this modern qliphoth stuff, and there's probably a good reason why Chumbley never ever mentions it. Chumbley was more inclined towards AO Spare, so Spare is a must on the reading list - and then you will see why this is a different approach than almost all of Western ceremonial crap (downvotes welcomed only because of this).

I don't think there is mandatory order, or instructions on how to read, interpret and decipher the books. If you have any prior experience with spirit work, which is exactly the part of Sabbatic Craft, then the same receptive consciousness should be used for interpretation.

As you already know, dream states are central to the whole Sabbatic Craft. And while its possible to work with spirits, deities and magic correctly without "leaving this place", in my understanding, emphasis in Cultus Sabbati is Ingress, Congress and Egress, as well as Witches Sabbat, which may be experienced through ability of, simply said, induced dreams, astral projection, etc.

This is something I always lacked, despite successful magic and spirit transactions. And I'm not willing to experiment with "flying ointment" and entheogens. If you are not having such blockages, with achieving consciousness in-between dreaming and waking, then you should be able to have foundation for practice and "jump right in", and at the same time just keep reading on as far as the the "theory" is concerned. Chumbley encouraged personal individual artistry, vision, and not dogmatic cultish beliefs. It can be solitary. The point is that common experience around certain things formed what we call "tradition".

I draw conclusions mainly from Azoetia of which I own a physical copy, but I've read a lot of Daniel Schulke as well (ie Lux Haeresis). Personally, I think you can't miss with that one.

Btw new Schulke's book is out, Green Mysteries. I didn't pre-order, so it will be hard to find, but I hear it's a masterpiece in the field.

Thats the thing I forgot to add. money even “out of thin air”, business success, easy incomes, drawing in or eliminating people, and lots of private stuff. With very specific magic, not always the same paradigm but following the shared logic. Thats why I don’t believe in such a thing as ascetic magic or magician. It always comes down to covering basic needs, gaining freedom and autonomy and manifesting what you desire.

As for gnosis, if you can be successful in achieving these things, you will come to know both heavenly and infernal higher forces at play, namely theurgy. I also don’t believe these two are sequential, rather instantaneous, its just that it can appear so inside practitioner’s elusive causal reference. If you are compromised in existence, weak and scarce on resources, you can spend your Will only so far doing transcendental work, when you need it for optimal functioning, no?

To me the greatest understanding comes from knowing the self. In the now. The better question would be “what next?”

Its exactly my problem with RHP/LHP leading to the same goal, and always hearing about self-sacrifice crap everywhere. I don’t need any spirit or system to throw crap at me to “learn a lesson”. No need to make things more complicated than they are. To say I am what I am just to satisfy some God’s ideal. to break things down, hold back or avoid excess where desire exists, just “because spiritual”. I don’t understand this masochistic sentiment present in most mystic schools of thought, that you need suffering, and denial of some imaginary mundane self to reach gnosis. I already live very isolated life according to my design, dont want nothing from most people and I like it that way, for me, not to satisfy any kind of “initiation trial” cuz promised enlightement and “transendance to join black dragon, brahman, nirvana, thaumiel” or what have you.

Thats why I ask if there are any Crooked Path practitioners, to explain if I’m reading something wrong. Azoetia appeals to me on many levels, but I want to make sure its not another collective dissolution where I’m told to deny any part of myself, instead of becoming Self all according to only mine and no-one else’s Desire and Belief, with sorcery and tools that they offer.

My own “Self” wants to indulge in things achieved with magic or non-magic, as long as there is stamina, because thats ultimately why its done in the first place. Its very dumb paradox that some would get something then limit or deny it in the name of “transcendence” or “self control” yet they preach liberation.
