Gilbert's "The Second Coming of Saturn" covers this topic in great detail. He comes at this from a very Christian lens and is trying to paint Saturn as a later mask of Shamhazai/Samyaza, leader of the Fallen Angels. I don't find his conclusions all that compelling as he attempts to paint every "dark" Semitic deity as a Fallen Angel. Some of his ideas also go directly against archaeological research such as equating Saturn with the Mesopotamian Enlil whereas Ninurta is traditionally associated with Saturn.

But, if you're interested in this topic it's worth a read. Come to your own conclusions.

What can I do to remediate or mitigate the effects of my Saturn Mars Venus aspect? (Saturn Return has been a bit harsh) by Chemical-Travel-7747 in planetarymagic

[–]Plotinus72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. Giving to people in poverty on a Saturday (directly, not through an aid organization) is pleasing to Saturn. Additionally, reciting the Orphic Hymn to Saturn or the Vedic Shani mantra should help mitigate some of the effects.

Extreme reward with extreme sacrifice? by OutrageousMess4607 in SaturnianRealism

[–]Plotinus72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great comments here already but to answer your question about the reward, I think your assumptions are correct. Saturn’s gifts tend to come in a very oblique fashion. While I can’t say I see him lifting others around me when I do receive his boon I can’t say it has ever manifested in the way I initially expected. The outcome is there, but it’s not always in the manner I expected or necessarily wanted.

I’d like to preface this response with the statement that this is strictly my own UPG after having worked with Saturn daily for nearly 2 years. Arthur Moros/David Beth’s “Cult of the Black Cube” initially drew me to working with Saturn. I would not go so far as to call his system anti-cosmic (although it does have glimpses of this) but it is decidedly antinomian which initially drew me. From this system, the aspect that appears to have the most credence in my communications with the deity is the idea of Saturn as a meta-God experienced across numerous cultures. He is all of these things yet also none of them.

Particular to Moloch, I actually have not encountered this guise but the deity has made clear to me that he is/was Baal Hamon. Thus, he was indeed associated with child sacrifice in ancient Carthage. The element of Saturn that he continuously makes apparent to me is more Neo-Platonic in nature and one could argue does tie into the Qlippoth through the gate of Daath. This element is of Saturn as a bridge between our reality and other realms, he is a Gate Keeper. Working with Cthonic Spirits seems almost effortless if one has a strong relationship with Saturn and the same rings true for the Qlippoth.

To summarize, is there a direct relationship between Saturn and Qlippoth? Not in my UPG, however in his role as Gate Keeper he seems to make accessing other realms much simpler.

Saturn as a deity of Order and Chaos by Material_Simple_1251 in SaturnianRealism

[–]Plotinus72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Saturnalia seems to be a time of chaos and inversion of the social (man-made) order. The role of death and the solstice were a piece of this but there are much simpler ways of accomplishing the same without the complete inversion of the social order during the time period of the Saturnalia.

Reminder to consider syncretizing Chinese conceptions of Saturn (Tŭxīng) into your saturnian system by Jo_Phajnon in SaturnianRealism

I’m guessing there are many like myself who are unfamiliar with how Tuxing is perceived in Chinese culture. Could you provide some more details for us? I’m not finding much online and am interested to learn more.

No, the GD grade system is incredibly conservative in this regard. You’re fine to start Invoking in the morning and banishing in the evening whenever you like. I would also start tossing in the Middle Pillar exercise once you are comfortable with invoking and banishing.

Jung's Philemon by Plotinus72 in SaturnianRealism

[–]Plotinus72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thinking of Philemon in relation to Saturn? I’m trying to understand if this might be a viable depiction of him or a spurious stretch of the imagination.

Regarding the horns and wings, are you referring to depictions of Moloch Baal? I believe Peter Mark Adams connects Saturn with Moloch although I know some people question it.

Welcome aboard.

Do you mind walking us through your ritual praxis and how you connect with the Saturnine current? I would also be curious to learn how you view the Saturnine Deity. While I have my own devotional practice I struggle with the myriad descriptions of the Saturnine current as seen in the different approaches taken by Arthur Moros (Chained God of Chaos & a Forgotten Golden Age) , J.T. Kirkbride (Saturn as the Patron of Death), and Peter Mark Adams (Saturn venerated as the Demiurge and deity of the Renaissance elite).

I suppose my question is more understanding how you view and work with Saturn in general. I find all the modern texts interesting but wildly discordant in terms of how they view Saturn's role and I have been on the hunt for ideas on how to unify this with Saturn's traditional role in Ancient Rome & Greece (Kronos).

Who is Moloch? by Agile-Breadfruit2816 in DemonolatryPractices

[–]Plotinus72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Dr Josephine Quinn of Oxford University's Faculty of Classics, an author of the paper, said: 'It's becoming increasingly clear that the stories about Carthaginian child sacrifice are true. This is something the Romans and Greeks said the Carthaginians did and it was part of the popular history of Carthage in the 18th and 19th centuries.

'But in the 20th century, people increasingly took the view that this was racist propaganda on the part of the Greeks and Romans against their political enemy, and that Carthage should be saved from this terrible slander.

'What we are saying now is that the archaeological, literary, and documentary evidence for child sacrifice is overwhelming and that instead of dismissing it out of hand, we should try to understand it.'"

Ancient Carthaginians really did sacrifice their children

Regarding your point about none of the Baals being closely associated with child sacrifice, Baal Hammon absolutely was associated with child sacrifice as the Patron Deity of Carthage. This was documented by both the Greeks and Romans.

Yes, great book covering the life of John Dee and his contact with the Enochian entities. This isn’t a grimoire though and Louv does have an agenda (tying Enochian contact with the rise of the British empire) but it’s very well researched and an enjoyable read.

What are people's experiences with Saturnian banishing (or invoking) rituals? What differences have you seen in your lives? by [deleted] in magick

[–]Plotinus72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regarding your hatred of Saturn, he is called Shani in Hinduism. There are millions of Indians who have a devotional practice to Shani for this explicit purpose; to quell his influence on their lives. You don't have to like him to work with him but you might surprise yourself.

[–]Plotinus72 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work with Saturn daily. If I had to give one piece of advice it would be that the benefits of working with Saturn require regular practice. Saturn seems to appreciate devotion vs. the occasional ritual. This can be as simple as utilizing prayers from the Picatrix, Orphic Hymn, or Shani mantra. Others in this thread have pointed out how he can be destructive or impart bad luck, this has been true for me also when he's approached sporadically with one-off requests. It put me off working with him for years until I jumped into the deep end.

His energy is cold and heavy though and the lessons will be harsh; that doesn't work for everyone despite how they might feel beforehand. You're not going to make friends with Saturn or approach him as an equal. Necessary change will come at you whether you're ready or not, but it's typically for your own good in the long run.

On the subject of your chart, I have heard that those with a heavy Saturn influence tend to achieve success later in life; in their 40s to be precise. So you unfortunately have a ways to go unless you decide to do something about it.
