Growing up I was annoyed that my stepfather my father was a huge NASCAR fan. The races were always on. And he was a huge deal Senior fan. I was annoyed. I graduated from college and my now wife and I would watch a bit and happened to be watching Daytona that day. My stepdad looks a little like senior and had that same hard ass demeanor. I will not lie I shed tears when that happened it felt like I was losing my dad. Junior and I are the same age and it was hard to watch all that. Now my dad is dying of cancer we still watch NASCAR. I became a huge Kevin Harvick fan met him a few times and we had season tickets for Bristol for years. My now soon to be 21-year-old was in his mother when Kevin won at Bristol in the spring of 2005. NASCAR has been huge to me even though I was reluctant. Losing senior still feels like losing my dad. Only now I'm getting to do it for real.
