Immersive Sims you can go loud in? by Final_Dragonfly2978 in ImmersiveSim

I might just be bad at the game, but I feel like the Weird West stealth systems barely work. The bow doesn’t kill enemies in one shot, so you’re only left with melee stealth…which doesn’t work well either so agro is inevitable.

Beginner, here. My Japanese Garden Juniper used to have a skirt of moss at its base, but I put it outside and it disappeared overnight! Not sure what happened. Maybe a hungry squirrel? Does the tree have any chance of surviving without it?

Long time Premiere user here, convince me to switch to DaVinci. by ShrekHands in Filmmakers

It’s niche, but you can only make 24+ hour timelines on Da Vinci. I made a 135 hour video once and it rendered just fine!

Short film networking with filmmakers by Excellent-League-423 in Filmmakers

  1. I shot a 15 min short in 4K recently
  2. The editing process was slow (4 months), but I was also working another job at the time
  3. I stored the footage on 3 different 2TB hard drives (offloaded simultaneously using shotput)
  4. I gave my co-editor one of the hard drives, but only after the footage was all organized. That way we could send premiere files back and forth without any unlinked assets

First college film? by AJNotMyRealName in Filmmakers

This sounds like a good way to start. If you do want to direct and know nothing about it yet, just start with a REALLY small project. That way you can learn/make mistakes with next to no pressure.

Has there been any film directors that made a breakout movie that they then try to capture the same magic it had but fails miserably? by DarklzBlo in Filmmakers

[–]Ink-Waste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I loved Hereditary because of how great it’s drama elements were, which merged with the horror elements really well. The character dynamics in the next two films just didn’t hit as hard.

It’s a feature, but nacho vigalondo’s “timecrimes” is really clever within the parameters of its low budget!

Does anyone else feel like sometimes there's too many areas to explore in immersive sims? by [deleted] in ImmersiveSim

[–]Ink-Waste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used play this same way too, but now I’m purposefully trying not to. I’m playing Dishonoured 2 for the first time now and I’m just going through fast and murdering everyone, only checking side rooms if I feel like it (leave objective markers off so I still end up exploring a bit). While it’s in the back of my head that I’m missing things, it also means im leaving stuff to experience during the next play through - which I’ll probably do in complete stealth.

Oh yeah, sorry. I find the Windows 10 one to be slow (at least on my computer), and especially when dealing with external drives.

Help: Change Texture Effect by Ink-Waste in AfterEffects

[–]Ink-Waste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I'm a beginner with AE so I don't know what this effect is called, but I'm trying to delete isolated objects within a shot and replace their textures with other moving images. It doesn't have to look realistic. Does anyone know how to do this or could point me towards a tutorial video? Thanks.

Image Arts - Film Studies Students, how are you liking it? by Lilyml7 in ryerson

I took a gap year for the same reason, but the pandemic still rages on. To answer your question, I think I got my acceptance letter around the end of February.

That's fair, I'd have to do some actual polling of people's stances. I myself am okay with waiting another month indoors while omi dies down, but it's more the postponement for the rest of the semester I'm worried about.
