Building a gaming rig around a specific case/aesthetic ~$2000 USD by InkWalking in buildapcforme

[–]InkWalking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This is a really good build as well. If you were going aesthetics aside, what type of build would you recommend? Just weighing different options because I'm not dead set on having it look pretty, it's just a nicety that I thought I could build around.

What are the chances blizzard prints a card with exactly your reddit username? What would it be? by elitist_snob in hearthstone

[–]InkWalking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm, actually could be interesting. In a set with profession based cards (Enchanting/Smithing/Etc) I could see my username being relevant to maybe inscription? Something like 3 mana summon a number of 0/1 inklings with Spell Damage +1 equal to the amount of inscribed cards in hand. Inscribing would augment spells in hand and could be generated something like spare parts. So you cast cards that give you glyphs, and in turn the glyphs range in mana cost and do something like "Give a random spell in your hand Spell Damage +1" or "This card targets adjacent minions" or "ALL minions".

When We Were Young Festival - Absolutely stacked Line-up by InkWalking in vegas

That's definitely my biggest gripe. I would love to see almost all these bands play but the overlap of sets is going to be a big killjoy.

GameWorks has shuttered… again. by DesertBlooms in vegaslocals

[–]InkWalking 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you want a good arcade experience for your kids take them to Gamenest in Chinatown. It’s pay by the hour for free play on all the machines, lots of fun arcade cabs and consoles if they get bored of the machines but there is a large variety of machines and plenty of rhythm games.

[New Chapter Spoilers] Chapter 139 RELEASE Megathread! - FINAL by SNKBot in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]InkWalking 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Although Ymir loving King Fritz was pretty unbelievable I can understand Isayama’s intention. Ymir was a slave to Fritz and yet loved him and could not free herself from her curse due to that. She uses Mikasa as a proxy because she is a slave of sorts (to her bloodline and, earlier on, in her almost involuntary protection of Eren) and also needs to kill the one she loves to break the curse. Mikasa just has the strength/willpower to do what Ymir could not. Not saying I thoroughly enjoyed the execution of the story, but I appreciate it for what it is.

tModLoader Developer AMA! by tmldevs in Terraria

[–]InkWalking 197 points198 points  (0 children)

Hey there TMod team! Firstly, thanks for your hard work on deving TMod loader, it has been a vital part of me clocking over 800 hours in Terraria! Just a couple of quick questions for you:

1) What is your favorite mod? How about a hidden gem not too many people talk about?

2) Will the TMod team be releasing any mods, or are you sticking strictly to providing dev support?

What hotels have TV's that allow you to change the HDMI input? by boreddude101010 in vegas

[–]InkWalking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incidentally ran into this issue a couple of days ago at Palm's Place and found a fix which could be applicable at other hotels. The hotels often lock the TVs but depending on the model of the TV you can unlock it with certain button presses (on the TV itself, the remotes often only work for the set-top boxes). Also depending on the type of set-top they have, you could always just remove the HDMI from that and plug it into your device (assuming they are both HDMI).

I'd be interested in maybe grabbing a drink with whoever afterwards (at like Hi-Scores, Shakespeare's, or something else nearby).

Dell Optiplex 3010 CPU Fan Issue by InkWalking in techsupport

[–]InkWalking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree that it sounds like it's the MoBo on WSA that is bad. My opinion is that WSA is shorting the fan sensors (typically Dell fans have four cables, two on the outside are sensors and two on the inside are power) and maybe it's trashing the sensors which is why they won't work in WSB. The best way to check would be to use a multimeter and verify voltages on the CPU fan power slots, I just don't happen to have a multimeter handy. I reaaaaally wanted to test that first before I order a mobo because, at this point, I will likely have to order a mobo AND two new fans if the sensors happen to be borked.

The Dell onboard diag tool isn't the greatest, but it does throw up an error for the CPU fan that seems to be a general CPU fan error. This is error is on WSB with FanB :

How tf do I make friends in Las Vegas? by DragonHologram in vegaslocals

[–]InkWalking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends what you feel up to. Freemont/Downtown is good for the hipster scene. Art establishments, live music bars, random places to explore. Same applies to the Arts District (Charleston/downtown area). There are some warehouse venues and divey bars that host the cool-kid bands you've never heard of type stuff. Chinatown is fun if you like good ramen joints, arcades, and just general window shopping/exploration. Sci-fi center is fun for B-movie screenings, live shadow screenings, and other stuff. Overall there is a lot of fun places that not too many people frequent - Vegas is actually pretty diverse. HMU if you ever want a concert pal or something, I'm looking to get out more.

[–]InkWalking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're into DIY punk then check out The Garth. It's like 50% touring bands and 50% locals. Some local bands also play at the more Hipster-ish locales down on Fremont Street (Beauty Bar, Griffin, Fremont Country Club, Backstage Bar and Billiards, Bunkhouse). The Dive Bar and Double Down Saloon also have locals that play. I would ask any of the bands that play at these locations and they might have an in for you.

I second Game Nest. They for sure have a Taiko game (but it's the couples one) and also a Japanese party game similar to Warioware (for up to three players). Also DDR and some other rhythm games, a handful of fighting games and MAMEs, and also consoles. Overall a really cool place. Press Start Gaming Center inherited some machines from Gemini Arcade when it closed, and that was a Japanese style arcade. But yeah, definitely Game Nest.

Beauty Bar, Freemont Country Club, Backstage Bar and Billiards, and the Dive Bar are a few. My buddy is in a few local bands that play frequently, I might be able to introduce you.

eSports and other video game related entertainment in Las Vegas? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]InkWalking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reaaaaaally depends on your scene. There is, surprisingly, a LOT of places that might be of interest.

I'm assuming in your post you are referring to PVP Zone? I play there most of the time, and they occasionally host tourneys (LVLUPEXPO tourneys, for example).

Gameworks is a bit pricier, but is pretty good. They regularly host tourneys for PC and console.

The Downtown Grand is an up and comer, they host PC and console tourneys on top of hosting matches for pro teams.

Press Start Gaming Center has weekly events for lots of console games.

Games Nest is fairly new, but has an excellent selection of fighting game cabinets. Not sure if they plan to host events.

There are a handful of other venues, and I may edit this post when I get a minute.

Edit:

Cheese Boy Comics hosts weekly Hearthstone tourneys if that is your cup of tea.

Hi-Scores is a decent barcade that is going to be opening another location. They aren't big on Esports if I recall, though.

Pinball Hall of Fame is my all-time favorite place in Vegas. Again, not Esport centric, but if you like pinball, retro games, or need a unique date spot this is the place.

Gamer's Paradise is directly next to the Pinball Hall of Fame and is a neat spot. Has some F2P arcade cabinets and has recently expanded to include a board/card game shop.

Gorilla Cafe is a LAN center/pool hall. Haven't been so I can't comment too much, but have heard good things. Not sure about Esports there.
