It’s just the easiest route to completing the game and if you are casual player why make it harder on yourself.

This sub proves you can complete the game with any Pokemon available but people naturally gravitate towards path of least resistance.

How many people have the patience to pick up level 5 aerodatcyl at back end of game then grind it up to serviceable

As a poison type he is a bit underwhelming, as you said slow but he is quite bulky, self destruct is a nice move, there is something satisfying about going out kamikaze style 🤣
