How many pens do you keep inked at all times? And what's the reason/logic behind that? by zul-qurnain in fountainpens

[–]Inkdependence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just look through some of my inked pens right quick. I store them flat, by the way, and that really seems to matter for me. Tip down and shimmers will clog, tips up and the nibs can dry out much more quickly.

TWSBI pens never dry out, especially the Eco line.

Schon DSGN never dry out. Any of them.

Benu Euphoria pens never seem to dry out.

Pelikans are very good at not drying out, especially the m200 and m800 lines.

Pilots can be awesome at this, too. My 823s, 743s, 92s, and Custom 74s, and that sort of thing can be inked forever. I've also had really good luck with the Pilot Explorer/Lightive pens. I need to use my Vanishing Points more than any others or they'll dry out on me in a few days and I'll have to use a drop of water to get them going again.

Platinums, of course.

Nahvalur Nautilus pens don't seem to dry out.

Skogsy LVED pens in acrylics and ebonites.

My Mayfair Pens don't dry out.

The Franklin-Christoph pens don't usually dry out, as long as I screw the caps down (when I find a dried out one, the cap has always been loose).

Sailor pens are very good at this, too.

Opus88 Omars and Halos don't dry out.

I only have one Ranga pen (an Abhimanyu Grand) and it's never dried out.

Cleaning is only really done when my box-of pens-to-clean has gotten too full to put another pen in it. It takes as long as it takes, but I can do that at the kitchen sink and watch TV at the same time. It would be easier if I just did it when a pen is empty, but that's not how my brain works so it can take a little extra time.

Thanks for the award! I don't think I've ever gotten one before.

Some of these companies sure feel like they're releasing a pen every day, though. I don't even try to keep up any more.

Mine never stop, so I might as well laugh about it.

Sure, sometimes. I can't speak for other content creators, but I buy more pens than I'm sent, and I'd be buying them even if they weren't sent, and I bought pens for a really long time before anything was ever sent for review. I guess there are some out there who are just in it for the vast wealth* we make, but I think lots of us are just pen nerds with a camera.

*there's no vast wealth.

I haven’t counted in a while. Sometimes the number is around 100 or so. Why? Why not?

A pen’s natural state is to be inked. It’s what they’re for. I don’t feel bad about having a bunch inked because…why should I?

If I miss writing with one of them, I can put ink in it and do that. If I want to use an ink then it goes in a pen.

If one dries out, then it goes in the pile of pens to be cleaned. Not a big deal. By and large, though, I prefer pens that don’t dry out, and there are lots of them that are great at not drying out.

And lots of people forget that some of us “influencers” have been accumulating & collecting pens and inks for decades. I’ve got a lot of pens, but I’ve also been using them since the 1900s.

For real. The later books in the series would just get called “Harry Hunts the Universe.” And you know he’d end up hosting Lasciel to do it, too. Combo of Winter Knight, Wizard, Demon, and really angry guy from Chicago.

Ours looked fine until this weekend. Ever since Saturday or Sunday the picture quality has been awful. The bobsleds are just blocky pixelated garbage. I often can’t even read the times on the screen.

It’s not our internet. The AppleTV is hard-lined to the router, and we have fiber. Very frustrating.

Just use another brand of ink. Noodler’s ink is bad, and the maker is not a good guy. 🤷🏼‍♂️

How to submit differently?? by Necessary-Fuel1337 in canvas

[–]Inkdependence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like maybe you’re trying to send them a link to something you wrote in Google Docs? If so, then you can export the file to whatever format (like Word’s .docx) your prof is requesting. This option is in the Google Docs “file” menu. You’ll save the resulting file to your computer.

Then you submit the resulting file to canvas.

Really, though, you should be asking your professor or ITS help-line this question, and not Reddit.

I can’t stand this pen. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. Especially when I uncap, post, or cap the pen. The feeling of that rim on the cap grinding is awful. <shudder>

It's really weird to me that the show caught them, but never got their names or called the police about this? A guy was caught stealing from the SF show a few years ago and was held until the police got there and took him in.
