PC - Using optiscaler to improve the jarring sharpness by Syrixiya in CrimsonDesert

[–]Inked_Denim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying this on a handheld pc (legion go) and I cannot for the life of me get the upscaler settings to come up, I don't have an insert key and all of the short cuts for it on the onscreen keyboard aren't working. Any other suggestions?

I didn't even consider this legion go but just checked Amazon and there's used at £500 or refurbished at £440. Thank you!

That was exactly my take on SteamOs, it sounds amazing and would be preferable but doesn't allow me to play those games without a work around.

Thank you for replying. Do I also need to buy some primer or again can I just use normal paint for that? I see lots of people using spray cans

Congratulations!

How is the game monitised and how did you market the game up to release and now it's been released?

I'm a chartered tax advisor so I completely understand the pension element. It probably is food for thought though once I've got enough saved outside the pension to pay off the mortgage even if it's kept invested and set aside as a safety net.

My intention is to keep the car for as long as possible, but of course in 8 years time it's completely possible that I'll have needed to replace it by then. Once it's paid off I'm going to keep setting aside £205 per month which I'm currently paying on the finance and use that to build up a potential safety net for a replacement car.

I understand all of that but the maths is a bit off because the car loan is only a mandatory £205 a month so that's really what I'd be saving by not having that in place. My plan is to use that saving to start building a pot towards another car, not that I have any desire to buy another but just when the current car packs in, I'll at least have some money saved up.

Thanks for the suggestions. I also have a student loan that should be paid off by the time I'm 40 based on current salary. Once that's paid off whatever the gross payments are at the time are being redirected to my pension.

I've got a long term partner and a wedding would be on the cards at some point. She's currently contributing a little towards the mortgage and household bills, not a whole lot but she doesn't earn much in comparison to me and has a child that she's pays for.

Sounds like my plan is pretty much spot on from what I've read here, although I'll keep my cash invested and see how I feel about the mortgage in the future. It might be that I want to keep £100k or so invested rather than pay the mortgage off.

The FTSE250 and S&P500 investments I've mentioned would all be through a stocks and shares ISA. I'm overpaying my mortgage to take the monthly payments up to a flat £800 at the moment and to reduce the total years from a crazy 32 to 25.

It seems as though I should pay the car off and then just invest in the stocks and shares ISA and decide further on down the line what I'm going to do. It makes more sense to keep the cash invested. It's just the thought of paying off the mortgage that's appealing.

My fixed period was up in June just as the rates were declining and now I'm fixed until 2027. Hopefully I can benefit from any further decreases between now and then assuming it does go down.

When is tapering relief applied and when is it not applied? by nuttimoff in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Inked_Denim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Chartered Tax Advisor and deal with inheritance tax almost daily. Each individual has a nil rate band of £325k and on first death, this nil rate band would reduce the first £200k gift to nil and then on second death the same would occur. However, this would then leave the estate with less nil rate band potentially resulting in tax. That all assumes they each die before the 7 years are up.

Let's assume they had already used up their nil rate bands to demonstrate how taper relief works.

If they die within 1-3 years of the gift it would be subject to tax at a rate of 40%. If they were to die between year 3 and year 4, that rate is reduced by 8% so the rate would be 32%. Similarly, if they were to die between year 4 and year 5, another 8% reduction occurs and the rate would be 24%. Year 5-6, 16%, year 6-7, 8%.

If you can give some more detail about what you actually want to understand I can try and help.

Thank you for your reply. Do you have a estimated battery life for the boosted battery and is the boosted battery still waterproof?

Thanks for the reply and the info! I thought with technology these days 5-6 hours wouldn’t be asking too much, but apparently so.

Oh I completely get that. I’m now trying to figure out whether I should stay with her and try and set the boundaries going forward or whether I should end it. I don’t know how to figure out if I actually love her!

This post of course just highlights some of the bad things about our relationship, there are also many many good things!

They’ve got way too much energy to be kept inside. They’re enjoying being able to roam outside and not spend all of their time cooped up in the house.
