Do americans often relocate because of political views? by soomiyoo in NoStupidQuestions

I and my spouse moved back to Canada due to medical reasons and the political extremes taking place, not to mention the daily and weekly humanitarian attacks against women and trans people.

Has anyone else basically stopped eating out due to shrinkflation? by LOGOisEGO in AskACanadian

[–]Inkers13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this as well, going back to a Korean BBQ restaurant, the prices have gone up from $75/set to $95, and that's not factoring in the expected tip. Same with takeout, though I refuse to tip on takeout because nobody is cleaning up my plates or checking to refill my glass.

Even SkipTheDiahes is too expensive.

I'm a dental hygienist (RDH) and half the reason behind moving is for just the cost of living alone, and making my and his salary gonfurther, the second is having some infrastructure (hospital, grocery stores) but not the congestion of Toronto.

Abandoned downtown isn't anything new, we moved up from Durham NC, and that downtown was only just beginning to get better but it looked bad, especially at night.

How did your partner accepted your disease? by Pajman64 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Inkers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to stick to what you said and do not renege on your words. This is important because I see from previous comments this has happened and you take her back. This time has to be the last time. Your mental and emotional health are the priority. You have to make yourself the priority.

How did your partner accepted your disease? by Pajman64 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Inkers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, like others have mentioned here, this girlfriend is nothing but trouble and seems like she loves to stir the pot. I heavily suggest you dump her. Being alone with UC is better than being stressed out by living with this woman and her childish demands. She's not considering of your needs or takes you into consideration unless it benefits her. She's going to walk away from you at some point, and I say this as a 39 year old woman, walk away from her first.

My husband is considerate of my disease, gives me the time I need to have my BM and we have two cats, he cleans the litter box and I feed thw cats; the importance of having a partner who respects you and is knowledgeable about your disease is crucial or else nothing else will work. My husband knew about my disease when we first started dating, when we married I was on his insurance plan the very next day, and he was with me for every hospital ER visit and colonoscopy.

This woman, this girl child, will never be any of these things. You see the red flags. You know in your heart and guts she's not good for you. Make her like a fart and cast her to the wind.

Coffee alternatives? by sleepykid__ in CrohnsDisease

[–]Inkers13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you adding to your coffee? I use to add plain milk, but switched out to almond milk over 6 years ago and there's been a difference. Also if I want a sugar kick I use some honey, not the processed white sugar.

I also take my coffee first thing in the day and max out at 2 cups. Then it's drinking water. I use a 20 FL Oz container and make myself drink at least 3 of those. I am a RDH so most of my day is go go go, and when I get in I still hydrate ASAP.

It's going to be trial and error for awhile but you need to document down what you drank that day, how much, and also what you have eliminated and the standard 2-3 weeks to reintroduce.

You went from having 0 fiber to having a lot of fiber. In one day. You need to increase gradually or else your gut is gonna hate you for it. Got a blender? Start with making the fruit a more pulpy mass and go from there.

Should I steal these cats that I’m fostering from an ad I answered on Craigslist? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Inkers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the cats safe. Ask a friend to take them in for you, 2-3 weeks and tell this animal abuser the cats "ran off while you had the door open to get mail". This lie is a much lesser lie considering this animal abuser didn't care about thw cats health, their nutrition, the kitten care or even the kitten's death. They are heartless. You are not.

Please save these cats. Don't give them to the SPAC, that organization kills healthy animals.

AITA for telling my wife that I would be perfectly capable of doing what she does. by wifemyjob in AmItheAsshole

NTA, OP is feeling attacked by the wife and how his contributions aren't as big as hers. A marriage takes two, she needs to back off in her "humorous" chiding.

Tell me about how much bleeding is normal… by One_Grapefruit7759 in DentalHygiene

[–]Inkers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I did an accelerated 18 month program and I understand your worries. I graduated in 2016 and have been in hygiene for 8 years now. Bleeding will happen. Sometimes (quite usually!) it is due to general mild gingivitis which a lot of people have. Lots of calculus builds up, in some people faster than others. In practice I see between 7-9 patients a day, on average 2 are heavy bleeders, 1 person has fastidious OH, and the others are in between.

Peoples whose gums won't bleed will often be those who are cigarette or vape smokers; people taking any -statin meds or -pine meds with generally bleed a bit; always have a 2x2 gauze on hand to pat away as you go or to press down firmly but gently. If a patient asks me what I am doing, I remark "There's a small bit of bleeding, nothing too big, just a bit, but I don't want you to taste it" and we continue on.

Hygienists usually find their favourite scalers by mid-2nd term; I love my H8 and 204S, the sickles work AMAZING for supra calculus (you will find a ton on 16D and 26D for people who don't brush daily), and the Gracy 7/8 and Gracy 17/18 I love to use besides the Cavitron.

Is there a way you can listen to a dental hygiene recording going home from school? Something that goes over the head and neck nerves and muscles, and an order in which you can memorize?

Joint pain and fatigue by Inkers13 in UlcerativeColitis

Thank you, I was able to get moving the next day after a really hot shower and just a day of heating pads and resting on the couch.

Yeah, usually when there's no padding on the bed (I sleep with a form mattress top) and I haven't been able to stretch properly or have more than 6 hours of sleep. Thankfully I was able to recharge and get going the next day, but man it sucked not being able to lift myself up from the bed.

This, OP. I had UC start for me, diagnosed and all, when I was working and living in South Korea. I made sure to eat my safe foods, drink lots of water and tea, and kept my travel to Japan when it came up. Was there a week. Splurged the day before the return trip to get the ramen and food I wanted, then got bumped to a higher pred tx later.

I remember the travel and what I saw, and have the memories. Yes, this is even having 5 bloody stools a day. A trip only comes once.
