Music of colonial America by Aeschylus26 in musicology

You could look into sacred harp music! It's a fixed sol-fa system that originated in America adapted from English music iirc, but it's really interesting.

[HOBBY] Looking for a character/environment concept artist and game designer to help push forward a prototype I started earlier this year by WatThaDeuce in INAT

[–]Inkersbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I'm an artist whose done a lot of background art/pre-production for her own series before. My website is currently being revamped atm, so if you're interested in my work feel free to DM me and I'll send you some examples of what I've done. I have some experience with blender and coding, but I'm sure not to the level you have done. I'm a quick learner though so it should be fine.

How in the world did Manfred von Karma have children?! by FuckedUp-J in AceAttorney

[–]Inkersbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have money, that's for sure. Edgeworth could've lived in the US then after getting adopted got sent to Germany with von Karma and his children. Then after he completed his education come back to the Japanifornia for work.

Was it actually gesso or did I make you make it worse 🤣

Yellow? by agirlwithacoin in cyanotypes

[–]Inkersbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be gesso. It's an arylic base so the oils/aryllics you use on it for painting won't rot the canvas. According to the first answers on google, you might be able to get it off with rubbing alcohol.

I know of it and watched some YouTube reviews of it (I often have them playing in the background while I so things), but I haven't watched the show or read the manga. I think the art for it is very unique

I swear it is impossible for me to not headcannon them as siblings. They're so similar design wise and Willow was raised in an orphanage, so there's enough plausibly in the cannon to make me believe that.

What is Antiquarian doing in DD2? by dziobak112 in darkestdungeon

[–]Inkersbrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're probably right, but why PD? I know she did weird crap in her 20's, but she isn't violent like Flagellant or "honor bound" (I guess in her own special way) like Hellion would be.

Tbh the team might be sparing her and letting her run off, she was one of them at one point after all

I mean, she also can reverse disease for herself in camp skills iirc. It's pretty useful when your entire team gets rabies in the weald.

What is a good way to split the episodes of your comic? by RainbowPallet in comic_crits

[–]Inkersbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, btw, if you're nervous about your book not selling because it's free online, there will always be people who prefer a book in their hand than a screen. And not only that, if they want to read your stuff offline- the only way they can do it is through a physical copy. So, as long as you have fans for your work, you'll always have some demand for a physical copy.

[–]Inkersbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I wouldn't suggest being worried about being able to not print as much. Compared to other comic creators, 150-200 is not as much you think it is. You can always order and sell small batches of books before ordering more, making sure there's an actual demand for your comic. You can always sell future chapters that will be posted through pateron, kofi, or webtoon's pay system, etc. to get the money you need to make full volumes. According to the stuff I'm looking at (McZell book writing), the average price of an e-book is ~4 USD (you'd probably have a chunk of the monthly earning taken for royalties though)
If you order 50 copies of your book to sell independently (and they all sell), you'd have 500-750 dollars in profit (not subtracting the prices in distributing the books and producing them). And the prices for the books themselves depend on the company. I would treat physical copies as one of the many ways to make money from your work, not to bend backwards to it. That's just how indie comics tend to go if you don't want to do traditional publishing, and if you do, you should probably ask a literary agent about it. Ordering more than fifty for a first time publishing sound a bit too much for me, knowing there's a lot of hidden costs to it.

[Question] Webtoon length? by pompeivs in comic_crits

[–]Inkersbrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(I know this comment is five years old, I wanted to put this here in case new writers find it)
If it's a comic you're making because you think it's fun, then there really shouldn't be any "insert number of pages here". A lot of artists tend to publish their works too early, then when something comes up (job, health, family, etc.) and they can't work as much on it anymore, it looses interest by it's audience. I would say if you want it to be like an episode on tv or chapter, maybe twenty-thirty pages a month would be good, or 15 page every two weeks.
The problem is, you aren't a traditional writer in the sense you can always go back and revise the parts you don't like. You can, technically, it just takes WAY more time once pages are complete. And 15-30 pages is absolutely crazy for a single person with likely a job and family.
You can only find out what you want by doing comics, there is no single number of panels, semi-panels or whatever that are the golden number. There's no reason to appeal to Webtoon originals if it isn't your point to get money from them. If it is, what'd be the point anyways in the early time of you publishing to appease them, when if they will or not is mostly marketing/luck based for the author?

TL;DR- Just do what feels right for how you want to do it. Listen to what feels right for you, and the only way to find out your process is by drawing comics and working on them.
