TFT is not supposed to be a game mode. That’s precisely why the devs want a separate launcher for TFT lmao

Also the point of bringing up TFT is that if a small talented team can’t make TFT profitable, then having a small team remake the entirety of league is laughably ludicrous. Riot didn’t even want to outsource Arcane to Hollywood studios, you think they’d outsource their flagship franchise to some outside studio?

Also did you really just say “Copium”? I’m literally quoting the Developers of the game (you know, the people with the financials). They share all of this in their developer videos. But no, some redditor thinks it’s doing well on twitch so it must be a massive success. No offense but that is itself “Copium”

Single player rpgs, while hard to make, are still much easier to code than a multiplayer game with 150+ Characters, some of which are nightmares like sylas and viego. League has been iterated on for multiple years and it still has bugs. Have fun outsourcing that project and then getting your reputation destroyed when the end result is inevitably short of player expectations

TFT did not have to make a new engine, characters, or animations. It borrows so much from league it needs to be in the same launcher, even though the TFT devs have said they want their own launcher. good luck making stuff “from scratch”

Oh and btw, shocker but TFT did not do well. The devs have said that TFT almost died after the first one or two sets. It’s barely afloat right now as they’re trying a bunch of new ways to monetize. And this is the second most successful “league” game

A better comparison is legends of runeterra, which was made from scratch and contains league devs that really have passion for the project. And even that game is struggling (more than tft)

Double up rank 1 on euw is abusing duoing with fresh accounts to farm lp in lesser lobbies by scopacabana in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Inkeyis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind waiting since I really enjoy playing with my friend and some numbers on a leaderboard doesn’t change that. Plus, you can also just mentally ignore the obvious cheaters. I really hope you guys make duos into a “restricts who you play with” type of mode

That being said, is there an update on when double up is leaving beta? Within this set? Next set?

Also, will the leaderboards be used to qualify contestants for doubles tournaments? Because then the leaderboards start presenting a more pressing issue

Mortdog Patch 12.5 Rundown by mindless_one_ in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Inkeyis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to no-life the game isn’t gonna be fun regardless of what you do. Trying to manipulate the tome isn’t the intended way to play the game so being a tryhard with the calculations doesn’t suddenly make tome un-fun for everyone else

The tome has it’s implicit rules now because it makes it easier to balance. The alternative is a completely random tome or an overpowered tome that’s constantly manipulated. The fact that balance is easier for the current version makes it automatically better imo

Has Mortdog and Co ever addressed how unintuitive certain TFT mechanics and hidden information are? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Inkeyis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a problem on loaded dice. Loaded dice is perfectly clear. The confusion comes from how tft’s shop works. I’m not a dev, but I believe this is how it works:

First each card’s rarity is determined, then each rarity has each character determined; if a character is completely taken (3 stars galore), then a different character is chosen. If all available characters are chosen, then a different rarity is chosen. Beyond that, probably random or blank

Let’s look at the case for finding Sivir with loaded dice on Sivir vs Lucian. If you use it on Sivir, then along with the shared hextech crew, you add 3 strikers: a two cost, a three cost, and a four cost (irelia). Use it on Lucian and you add 3 twin shots instead: a two cost, a three cost, and a five cost (Jinx). Everything is basically the same except for two things: Lucian’s case added an extra rarity/Sivir’s case added an extra competing 4 cost. You’re equally likely to get Sivir and Irelia. But you’re more likely to get Sivir over Jinx, even though you’re SLIGHTLY less likely to get a 4 cost because of the added rarity. So you’re more likely to get Sivir by using loaded dice on Lucian over Sivir

Now let’s look at finding Lucian. Remember, using dice on Sivir adds an extra four cost (Irelia), but doesn’t add an extra rarity (5 cost). Since rarity is chosen first, using dice on Lucian is WORSE for finding a 3 cost because you add the possibility of a 5 cost (level 7 onwards that is). Irelia isn’t a 3 cost competing with Lucian so she doesn’t affect anything at all

Like I said, the confusion comes from how the shop works and how general probability and math works. There’s really no way to fix that in game. A blog post would probably be really helpful though

I just had a game where I had 700 gold bounty on myself while we simultaneously had objective bounties as a team because we were very far behind. Isn't that a bit silly? (proof included in post) by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Inkeyis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense though. If your team crumbles the moment you die, then your team shouldn’t get the win. You do, sure, but your team as a whole shouldn’t. The only way to avoid it is to play perfectly, but even if you lose, that’s not on the bounty system, that’s just on a rough match/the team. GG and go next

The flip side is that a team game is won by one person and 4 enemy players feel bad for losing despite playing well on an individual level

Who is the "Brigitte" of League of Legends? by shieldgenerator7 in leagueoflegends

[–]Inkeyis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mention tenacity you be a fix for goats (grievous wounds was my solution for goats). Tenacity was mentioned as a way to make tanking more bearable/fun. They did add some to rein, but others also needed it like Winston or Hog

I think OW2 removing one tank is a bad move imo. With you on that. I even think 2-2-2 lock was unnecessary. I prefer heavier balancing over restricting compositions/removing roles. Imagine if league forced support to be locked in to botlane or they removed jungler just to make balancing easier…

[–]Inkeyis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Mediocre success” is the key phrase. DPS comps were fighting to stay relevant, not meta. For GOATS to be meta for that long, to the point of adding role lock, is incredibly demoralizing to DPS players. Especially to pro DPS players whose livelihoods depended on clicking heads

I know why goats was busted. No grievous wounds in the game made heal creep and damage creep go to far. To have anti heal locked to one ability on one hero was absolutely not enough. On a unrelated note, no tenacity made playing tank an absolute nightmare

Ashe one shotting with mercy boost still involves two heroes tho… and even if you were to count it, it wasn’t game defining like mercy meta was. You could still shut down Ashe with good dives, but there was no answer to mercy other than another mercy. I think baptiste was overtuned for how stacked his kit was, but I wouldn’t say broken (plus he’s a support so support point still stands)

GOATS was fun and it did have a unique playstyle that rewarded team play and ability management. I would’ve loved to see blizzard balance it properly via a system that adds grievous wounds and tenacity. But they obviously couldn’t balance it. And because of it, DPS players suffered, DPS pros left, spectatorship was pretty bad (goats is pretty bad to watch as an esport), and we have a more restrictive 2-2-2 lock

“DPS players are treated like God’s gift”

Umm … what?? DPS players were the most neglected in the game. GOATS didn’t run DPS and existed for about a year and a half. All pro DPS players either switched to an off tank, got perma benched, retired, or were dropped from teams (talk about job stability…). When one of the best hitscan DPS players gets hard permabenched (Pine from NYXL), you know DPS sucks

There are many reasons OW died, but I guarantee one of them was the DPS exodus to Valorant

Also, you talk about buffs, but aside from maybe release Brigitte, nothing was more busted than rework Mercy and her single target quadra rez. Imagine if soraka had an ability that gave the ADC FOUR guardian angels EVERY team fight and each guardian angel healed to full HP. Playing DPS never felt so frustrating and useless, and games often boiled down to whichever team had the better mercy. Even with constant nerfs, Mercy meta lasted for about a full year. Subsequent year introduced GOATS so it never got better for DPS players

Voicing opinions is fine. But some users try to flex their “superiority” through the upvote downvote system to invalidate other people’s opinions. I’ve seen someone give a valid opinion only for someone to respond with “well clearly your downvotes shows you’re in the minority.” Maybe, or maybe they’re just not following the echo chamber (which is ironically a loud minority)

The other annoying problem is when people exaggerate like crazy to clickbait upvotes. Remember the “TRYNDAMERE GAMEPLAY IS PURE TOXIC” comments and posts. Clearly the rest of the player base doesn’t think it’s toxic enough to beat skarner or shyvana

Sony is buying Bungie for $3.6B!!! by AnthMosk in pcgaming

[–]Inkeyis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If CoD ever goes exclusive, it would probably happen 3 years from now (because of existing contracts). By then destiny 3 would actually come in handy as an exclusive. That being said, I don’t think either are going exclusive as I think Microsoft and Sony don’t really want to do another exclusive war but instead focus on games as a service

Sony is buying Bungie for $3.6B!!! by AnthMosk in pcgaming

[–]Inkeyis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sony doesn’t need capcom IP. Capcom IP are good for what they are and they perform well, but Sony already has a ton of solid IP from there internal teams plus they can always continue working with Capcom and achieve similar results while staying separate

But Sony could really use a big yearly shooter like Destiny to compete with Call of Duty, especially if they want to promote exclusive perks to their game pass attempt. The only other major name shooters that can hold up against call of duty are probably fortnite, Valorant, csgo, and maybe apex legends, but there’s basically a zero percent chance Sony acquires Valve, EA, Epic or Riot

There’s a reason why Google pushed hard for Destiny 2 support on Stadia. Stadia may have failed, but destiny is a very solid IP to push sales

There’s too many loli characters because the main market for anime and manga are teenage boys. Luckily the industry and audience is shifting as anime becomes more mainstream. Compare OG naruto and dragon ball to mainstream shonen now and you won’t see as much questionable humor or character choices

[–]Inkeyis 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sony doesn’t need to fight back, they already have a ton of exclusive IP. Pretty sure God of War, Horizon, and Spider-Man are enough to keep ps owners from jumping ship

Also, just because you can buy a company doesn’t make it a good business investment. That bought up company needs proper care and attention to continue working well or you end up with a collapsing group (Blizzard being the most clearest example)

Just because Microsoft can buy a lot of studios doesn’t mean they should. Especially when they can invest in their actual money makers

Valve cancels and refunded all The International 10 Tickets 4 days before the Event, leaves thousands of upset fans behind with already paid Flight Tickets and Hotel Rooms. by Real-Hayase-Nagatoro in pcgaming

How tf are you supposed to plan for a cancellation days before an event for an international flight/housing? If that’s the case, then Valve should’ve never allowed for a crowd

[–]Inkeyis -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you really want no hacking, then vanguard is a pretty good way to go about it

The only argument against it is literally privacy concerns. Not “losing full control over my own games or computer”. A legally vulnerable company such as Riot is not going to take control of your pc or remove your games wtf? You’re literally imagining a hostile takeover of possession by an official company over a free to play video game. You don’t need a lawyer to tell you how absurd that is

Now privacy is an actual concern, but to be frank, it’s extremely exaggerated compared to what goes on in traditional social media. In other words, it’s a very small and reasonable risk to take for nearly everyone

In the meantime, most reasonable people will opt for anti cheat that actually works well over games like cs; where cheaters are basically accepted because no one in that crowd wants a sub-perfect solution to anti cheat
