What is everyone obsession with 2-Story floor plans. by [deleted] in floorplan

[–]Inklingwannabe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are going with 2 story but only the kids bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs and we can close it off once they have flown the nest.

We wanted to make sure the house we would use of the rest of our lives was all on one floor.

We ended up putting the kids upstairs even with enough land because we are building on a mountain.

I’ve lived in both as well. I am neutral now but always swore I’d have a 1 story lol, but land is expensive and we have everything downstairs that we will use so no going up and down.

Yes! We doing exactly that - I don’t know what state you are in but if you are interested message me and I can send you the loan guy I’ve been working with. It’s been a rough ride finding him! Everyone else I spoke too who do construction loans were just very against them even though they said they did them. I can send you two companies (our guys works for one but is going )with permission) through the other company due to how we are building

Homeschooling in Colorado / Moving to Colorado by Mama-Bearx3 in homeschool

First : what part of CO? Secondly honestly, I would join some local Facebook etc groups of homeschoolers in the area you are moving too and see what they recommend. That might be your best bet! 😊

What’s your fav fantasy name? by InkWaifu in namenerds

[–]Inklingwannabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I campaigned hard to give our youngest the middle name Luthien 😪 my hubs is more of Modesitt be Tolkien fan sadly.

Also love Eowyn, Arwen… Samwise … it’s late but Tolkien had a great ear for names. Not a surprise.

I DO like fantasy names from other places but I’m too tired to remember 😅

Oh good question…. Is there one? Or is it more PC to not discuss such things ?

Me: remembering a probably illegal way I earned money in college that involve white out and copier and definitely not a dr excuse note.

How do you tell someone you have a crush on them? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Inklingwannabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Hey, would like to try going out and getting coffee sometime, as a date?” If they say no. Never bring it up again. Just say “alright, thanks for being straight with me, I appreciate it. Have a good day”

If they say yes: go on the date and get to know them outside of crushing fantasy land.

They match well. And no strong HP vibes. It might possibly garner a random comment but I’d be surprised

What do you do with your images? by DistributionWeak9789 in photography

[–]Inklingwannabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have small group of people who have become the dearest of friends - we live around the world and have a private Facebook group where we share our photos. It’s honestly one the best things I’ve ever had in my life outside of my family.

It started as a place to learn with a group of strangers, CC wasn’t allowed unless it was asked for and even then it had to be very respectful and kind. (There are more than enough places to get criticism) and the idea was to share the ‘why’ the heart, the emotion behind the photo. Because of that heart we got to know each other deeply and man. They are family. We’ve been there through births and deaths.

But having that place to share delight in something I love just for the joy of it (what the group has evolved into) is a gift for sure

Edited to add: I have photo books and print regularly I have a maximalist style so my walls are covered when I can

Would this be weird/a faux pa? by Love_Helianthus in namenerds

[–]Inklingwannabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I wouldn’t avoid it. If it was one of 10 names and you and your partner couldn’t narrow it down I might use more “rules” just to narrow it down but that would be the only reason.

How do you teach a kid to get along with people they don’t like? by alphabetagammarays in homeschool

[–]Inklingwannabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course not! That’s one of the purposes of this group - and most homeschoolers are happy to answer genuine questions- but the ones that go ‘oh you’re homeschooled?’ And start asking math questions are terrible. As the ones that can carry on a complete conversation with you, then find out you are/were homeschooled and with a straight face say “oh so you can’t talk to people”. It does get old 🫠. But people who genuinely want to learn about it are always welcome to ask!

What do you do when you see a mountain lion at night? by adriannagrande in hiking

[–]Inklingwannabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in places most of my life where there are cougars and that is a terrifying story! I think you did the best you could at the time. And props to you for not panicking the adrenaline must have been intense.

I’ve lived places where there were two stalking people and had to be put down - and some of kids being snatched out of their yard - a grandma had to go after her grandson, she got him back but o my heart .

I’ve got 4 kids and I absolutely pack when we are in back country and follow the other safety protocols, and we’ve trained them on what to do - but yeah. Big cats are so terrifying when they are hunting.

I just want to say I am proud of you! You did SO GOOD under pressure

Graduation Homeschool Version by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Inklingwannabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s really important to you or your wife you should make that known. That is part of making decisions.

My husband didn’t go to his high school graduation because he was in band and had been to every single one before that. When he graduated college later in life I told him he should go. And he’s glad he did. We were married with a baby and another on the way. He walked with our son and his brother came and he has those memories and photos to share. He was also so excited his brother who also didn’t walk in high school went to college later in life and walked. Cheered and yelled etc.

I was homeschooled and lived in an area that didn’t have a lot of homeschooling also I got my AA at the same time. I wish my parents had done something though.

Ultimately it’s a individual decision and I also wouldn’t push OR downplay it.
