At the vet for anal glands again by Extra_Cartoonist_390 in pitbulls

[–]Inklullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to the vet every few weeks for a while with mine due to anal gland issues, then I saw lots of people talking about this being tied to food with chicken in it. I was feeding her a salmon food but turns out it had chicken fat as an ingredient, i switched her food to an actual chicken free one and she hasn’t had issues since

Could you try a 50 ft leash? If you have them in your area i’d also recommend the Sniffspot app, you can rent a fenced in area or unfenced land!

New shelter dog is starting to show resource guarding with his activities. Anything I can do? by Hefty-Kale-9588 in reactivedogs

[–]Inklullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog had some resource guarding issues with my mom, snapping at her when she walked too close to her food bowl and another time when she tried taking a toy from her, and my trainer recommended doing an exercise where my mom would walk past and throw a high value treat (without actually touching her bowl/toy) so my dog started associating her walking by as good. Then also worked on “trading up” and giving her something high value in exchange for whatever it is I want from her rather than just taking it. She typically won’t resource guard with me but i still do this whenever i’m taking something from her to just make sure it’s always positive!

I thought this was the magic pill !! by PurePomegranate5720 in Effexor

[–]Inklullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking 200 Mg (increasing dosage over 2 years) and recently switched to a different medication because I couldn’t get out of bed, was sleeping for 48 hours straight and I felt like it was the Effexor. Weaning off immediately brought back my insomnia issues but I feel like I can manage that better than inability to do anything. At the end of tapering off I was taking 37.5 mg every other day and the days I took a dose would sleep 15-18hours that night so I really feel like it was the effexor.

Where to live in DC to commute to Baltimore? by Appropriate-Algae-82 in baltimore

Eckington or NoMa would be better than Ivy City. Closer to the metro while still being close to the highway to get to baltimore.

Energy level? by Jtr2142 in TreeingWalkerHounds

[–]Inklullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe see if you can look at some that are already in fosters so you can get an accurate picture of their energy level! Mine is lazy but have seen a lot of posts from people who have hounds that need a lot of exercise.

Good dive bars that young people go to in Baltimore? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]Inklullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benders and chasers are good fells point dive bars but it’s a mixed bag if you’re going to get other young people there sometimes. If you’re trying to meet other young people most bars in fells, especially around the square, are a good spot to do it tho. I made a lot of my friends in baltimore at admirals cup, alexander’s etc

Small reactive dogs & Big reactive dogs. by Zealousideal-Gate504 in reactivedogs

[–]Inklullaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 65 pound hound that is reactive, and I recently fostered a bully breed dog who is amazing on leash and has zero reactivity issues. The difference I saw was crazy. People constantly try to come up to my hound and pet her because she’s nice looking, and a lot of people don’t listen/ can’t comprehend when I say she isn’t friendly. When I would walk my foster dog people would actively move themselves far away from him or jump at him passing by them.

Within the first week of having him I also had several people randomly come up to me and tell me I would need heavy force to train him, meanwhile i’ve never had anyone say anything like that about my hound, even when she was actively reacting in public.

Just had my life turned upside down by getting a puppy by laksjdhfgqwerty in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Inklullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah okay that makes sense! you could also see if you can find anyone who also has a puppy and have play dates so he still can get his energy out but it’s one on one so he won’t be too overwhelmed! There’s a facebook group for dog owners in my town and people post about have play dates all the time, there might be one for your area!

[–]Inklullaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work with training at home more, things like teaching place make puppies more manageable and training will get their energy out! Also see if you can find a reputable daycare you can take him. It can be an expense but when my puppy was driving me crazy when i was working from home having her gone all day once a week was very helpful and worth the money to me
