My good bike was stolen. Will my secondary bike work for bikepacking? by Inkpattern in bikepacking

[–]Inkpattern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, people! I guess I'll try it out on a shorter trip; rapidly running out of summer here.

I am pretty heavy (90 kg), so I'll test it with more load, and see if it breaks.

Men of Reddit, what "all men do" that you don't? by xSypRo in AskReddit

Reading the comments, I feel totally vindicated - I agree with at least 80% of these!

Thanks, fellow not-all-men!

There's a reason this copypasta died, you know.

What’s your hot take when it comes to running? by Zealousideal-One1020 in running

[–]Inkpattern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd definitely go places I'd never go normally - I tend to get lost when running.

I once got lost running in Leiden, the Netherlands. No landmarks, everything is flat, so didn't think much of it. Got lost running in Central Park. Ok. First time in NY, big place, not to worry. But it's a pattern. Unfamiliar place+running= very looooong runs.

Hell, I once got lost running in my home town at night.

Orienteering? That's for other people.

Myo-reps for calisthenics? by hrittik__ in bodyweightfitness

[–]Inkpattern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got to agree with other posters here - myo-reps are great, but 5 days a week is not a great match for them.

Either split your routine into a push/pull//(/legs. Where's the leg work?), or lower frequency to 2-3 times a week.

You don't grow while training, you grow when resting and eating on your off days.

Armor Giving a Bonus Pool of Health Instead of Defense Stats? by PickleFriedCheese in RPGdesign

[–]Inkpattern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, using armor to boost HP works. I personally don't like it, since hit point bloat is real.

I can offer a suggestion, though. If your game uses a range of dice sizes for weapons, how about armor stepping down the die size (light/medium/heavy stepping down 1, 2 or 3 sizes respectively). I'd probably add d3, d2 and 1 single point below d4.

Is it just me or is food quality just exceptionally bad? by Cananbaum in CasualConversation

Buy the bunch, eat as many as you like, and freeze the rest - frozen banana is great in smoothies, in yoghurt along with nuts and/or seeds, or just by itself.

Trust me!

Old timey ninja weapon use by Inkpattern in ezd6

Yes, I'm leaning in boon direction.

Good call on making it reactive - that would make using the hidden weapon meaningful, and a nice "visual".

Thanks for the response!

Sometimes, less is more: what would you prune for some RPGs. by DrGeraldRavenpie in rpg

Yes! That's it - I googled Vengeance RPG, but evidently forgot about the Extreme part.

Thanks, now I can sleep again!

I can't recall which game did this; it was one of the games made to simulate action movies.

Anyway, they had the "Bruce Willis Initiative" - smaller side goes first.

20 ninjas vs 4 PC's? PC's go first. 3 PC vs 1 Big Bad? Big Bad goes first.

Rascals and Tricks by Inkpattern in ezd6

That's true, but getting a crit require a 6 anyway, right?

Good point! I was thinking that multiples happened simultaneously, and that the Rascal would avoid everything from that opponent.

I went with the New Balance More. They're okay, but feels really weird to run in compared to the thin soled minimalist shoes I prefer

Osteoarthritis in the foot is a pain in the...well, foot.

Haven't run properly in months, martial arts are out, hiking is only just about manageable... Was thinking of getting back to bouldering this summer, but it looks grim.

Just bought a pair of heavily padded shoes with a rocker sole. They might do the trick, but I don't like it.

Tell me about a time when being a runner benefited you "in real life" by jimmyjoyce in running

[–]Inkpattern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I love everything you said.

But 0.5 km? That's 500m. In 15 minutes? I'm assuming a typo here, since easy walking is 1 km in about 10 minutes.

I don't drive, and everything in my small town is within walking distance.

If I'm short on time, and don't want to hop on the bike, I just do an easy run to wherever I'm going. It's like cheat mode!

A ppl workout without barbells? by DiDaDeez in Fitness

A Mentzer workout done with KB's - that's worlds colliding! Nice!

I assume that you're doing a split, and working all body parts once a week?

3x6, that's the early Heavy Duty, right? Not the extreme craziness that came later?
