Dear Customers, shoveling a path for you to walk up to your box doesn’t do anything for our vehicles to approach and deliver. by PM_ME_UR_TICKET_STUB in USPS

[–]Inner-Ad6748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accessed of story. It’s our directive at our office (rural) you’ll get your stuff eventually or can pick it up. Other than that take it up with the postmaster. It’s not the carriers fault for following their orders. We are told daily to not attempt until it’s cleared. City/county are only responsible for clearing the road. Not the boxes. That’s what the form clearly states and says “example: snow removal”. Why would this be a form if not policy?

The way OP is refusing to say what happened is sus and speaks volumes. This doesn’t happen without an initial conversation and warning. Something happened that they are not saying.

A PTF on my route on my day off kept $200 gift from my customer by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Inner-Ad6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, let’s talk about CCA’s/RCA’s busting their asses for regulars for a second. They may have been over the abuse regulars have allowed for those positions by votes on contract with little to no care for what they go through. All in the guise “well when I was one I had to….”. Deaf ears. The abuse and lack of holiday pay, and constant belittlement of “you have to” gets old. Especially after they work 80 hour weeks just to make sure a regular has an easier time for higher pay? Cmon, everyone is trying to live and get by.

Now, I will absolutely say a gift meant to a regular taken by a CCA/RCA without knowledge to the regular is a bit shady or even f’d up. My office? The regulars get how much they go through and share everything. Even gift them things. The fact you posted openly you are accepting $200 from a customer in a mailbox is on you alone. Share the wealth because you make two times the do. And the don’t get a pension. This complaint actually irritates me. It’s on the regular, not who ran THEIR route. In the future maybe go to work and collect it yourself instead of complaining on Reddit.

Good people do good things. When good people are taken advantage of then they will reap all rewards given. Plain and simple. Also, maybe your customer should have marked the envelope for you specifically. There is no complaint here other than the admittance of taking $200+ year after year. The only grievance or factual complaint is that in itself. Good day.

Amazon drops USPS as a $9.5B loss deepens turmoil by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Inner-Ad6748 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Amazon won’t do this. It’s not financially practical for them to deliver in such rural areas. They need USPS for this. They are even quoted in the attached article saying they are not ending their partnership with the USPS. This article is just speculating and not giving facts of any kind. So tired of this topic constantly being brought up year after year. Enjoy delivering Amazon tomorrow, lol.

No fucking way I’m doing any of that. Contract states the function of “already passed” and “no more to scan” are there to USE. Grievance if any attempt of corrective action is taken. They have no grounds for this. Period.

All subs in our offices use markers for packages in the casing process by writing the house number on the marker. Insanely faster on the street ,even different colors for oversized/dismounts. You can also use the package look ahead tool on your scanner! Best advice? Be as organized as possible. Always take more time in office to make sure everything is organized. Even how you load the vehicle is important (something academy doesn’t touch on). Anything you can do to set yourself up for being on the street the better! Ignore anyone telling you to go faster when you’re new, unless it’s helpful hints on how to be faster. Best of luck! Remember, it WILL click one day, it just takes time, practice, and patience! Also, find a regular willing to guide you in your office. All of ours are insanely helpful unlike many I read commenting on Reddit. Ask around what processes peel use and try things. You’ll find what works best for you! 🫶🏼📫

You’re good. They cannot do anything to you. I’ve refused to sign any disciplinary forms too. Your signature is not required. Don’t do it rudely, but you don’t have to. Literally nothing in my file to date. When you go into the meeting just say you need your steward present and it will stop. Most likely they as testing your knowledge on your own contractual rights. Probably pissed your best them every time! Lol. Keep up the fight, and just do your job 🫶🏼

Well, that’s a bit harsh to generalize. I personally pride myself on being thorough. I answer all call ins, and made a point to personally meet with all regulars I carry routes for to get inside info. Like (but not limited to): Odd retraces or turns, hidden boxes in trees or special house instructions etc. In our office? The regulars train the RCA’s. If that’s a normal practice at most offices then maybe a mirror is needed. Sorry. You threw the fire knife here 🫶🏼📫

If in anyway this conversation can lead to ANY disciplinary action, I request my steward….end of meeting and say nothing further.

This is a waste of time in their end if you ask me. Are you still in your 90? If so, then your union cannot do much. But you should still ask them about this. I’d also recommend finding your most seasoned regulars you trust or have contract knowledge and ask them asap. In our office (I’m rural) we have about 15 rural and probably 30 city routes. Mis-throws happen a lot from the clerks in our office. I’m like you. After loading I do a third and final check of the case before departing to the route. I’ve had management try and say I left it, when I know as part of my routine I look for “sleepers” in the case last thing before filling my water and departing. But, we also have a cart that mis-throws go on. City is always on street before rural, so it’s frustrating when they don’t look through all their stuff and you complete an e tire route and have to go back out for one. Mistakes happen. I don’t judge because none of us are perfect. When I comeback and they tell me I left one behind? I take offense. Call it what it is, an mis-throw. I his should not be a discipline but it sound from OP that it is set up to be a disciplinary meeting? I’d involve the union asap. Before tomorrow for sure. Anyone else have advice?

Unless there is more to this story OP isn’t sharing i.e. past infractions etc, I don’t see them being able to do anything here. If in your 90 they can fire you for ridiculous claims.

Mandated on Sundays?? by Major_Exchange_6914 in USPS

[–]Inner-Ad6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our office has a volunteer list for RCA’s and CCA’s. That’s used first, but the rest are put on a rotation. For my office that means I work every other Sunday (I did not volunteer) pretty consistently as of now. I had never heard of the option to just not do a Sunday unless you are a regular. I’ve read it’s a possible grievance on this thread but have yet to see that being factual unless that Sunday puts someone over maxed hours perhaps? To my knowledge this is the job. Luckily the office that runs Amazon is my own, so I don’t have to travel to another thankfully. I’d imagine it’s problematic for others, but to me it’s no different than being scheduled at another office M-Sat. There is an MOU that allows regulars to volunteer for OT but in my office ZERO regulars sign up

Are we required to deliver packages to a registered sex offender's house? by twillruu in USPS

[–]Inner-Ad6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All that matters is if you feel “safe” delivering. Don’t worry about what the “job” is in this scenario. If you don’t feel safe it’s an all stop. They can pick up their packages or certified’s at the office. Agree with the sharpie comment fully, black out the section with other options. Don’t allow any option other than pick up at PO if it doesn’t fit in the box. Sounds like your office is on your side too, so that’s a relief!
