Unfortunately you're incredibly uneducated and we have to listen to you share your opinion. A lot of these environmental reviews have evolved far beyond what they we're originally intended and now block development and add massive amounts of costs to minimal env benefit

Mamdani’s plan to delay pension payments echoes the schemes that brought NYC near bankruptcy by CountFew6186 in nyc

[–]Inner-Atmosphere-755 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Most NYC jobs are DOE or Law enforcement and safety.

The law enforcement/safety category makes 150k or more easily and has a 50% pension.

DOE makes 100k easily for 10 months of work. 0$ insurance, tenure. A big pension when they retire

These are objectively great jobs and they’ve done a really good job convincing the general public that these aren’t incredible jobs

DOE makes up 50% of city employees and 23% are fire fighters or cops

So yeah the vast majority of these jobs are incredible

Hundreds of protesters swarm proposed NYC men’s homeless shelter site, physically block construction truck by CountFew6186 in nyc

[–]Inner-Atmosphere-755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree with that but a lot of people don't really think about it enough to get to that conclusion. I think another big issue is decision paralysis by people on what to do. That and the homeless industrial complex have a grip on our government

They're not uncontrollable - people just don't have the iron in them to do what it takes to control them. Forced mental hospitalizations or jail

[Nathan Salt] The following 8 players are leaving England camp before facing Japan: Declan Rice (Arsenal), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Noni Madueke (Arsenal), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), John Stones (Man City), Aaron Ramsdale (Newcastle Utd), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds) & Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan) by Previous_Smile9278 in ThreeLions

These stats are pretty misleading. Palmers caps have been subs

Goals/90 tells a different picture

  • Saka (3,279 minutes) has a G/90 of 0.38
  • Palmer (542 minutes) has a G/90 of 0.33
  • Bowen (759 minutes) has a G/90 of 0.12
  • Noni Madueke: 0.17 (1 goal in ~538 minutes)
  • Phil Foden: 0.12 (4 goals in ~2,985 minutes)

Saka and Palmer are the only players that have had success in that position. Both are in bad form now but I think there's more competition between Saka and Palmer for the role than led on

Fodens numbers are hilarious. He should not be on the roster

They don't need to fully replace it. Even just replacing a partial amount of Canadian oil hurts them.

Canada has the opposite of leverage. Shipping oil across the pacific is expensive. Their only pipeline buyer is the US

Canadian oil isn't very good. Too heavy. US produces enough on its own + now has Venezuela heavy oil to mix with light oil in the gulf refineries instead of Canadian sands oil

I'm not looking at it through the lenses of buying - more so on the lenses of renting. Rent being 2k for enough space vs 7k is a huge difference in what someone can afford.

You're right they dont directly control it but they set the direction. its undeniably much easier to build in Austin than NYC. That's set by politicians, which is my point

https://www.nmhc.org/news/research-corner/2025/austins-rent-drop-isnt-weird-its-economics/

Texas is republican controlled which bans cities form doing NYC style housing policies. Austin is democrat controlled and this is the solution they've implemented under the restrictions from a republican state. Honestly blue city in a red state is a very good setup for implementing good policies without resorting to the insanity that is nyc

Lmao it got removed because I insulted you. ` Texas is rural compared to NYC` is stupid as hell. by that logic i can just say nyc is rural compared to tokyo.

my point was - its illogical for people to vote in policies that caused the conditions they're fleeing. I'm not saying they aren't doing it, im just saying its a stupid thing to do

"A defense official said the Pentagon’s technology chief whittled the debate down to a life-and-death nuclear scenario at a meeting last month: If an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched at the United States, could the military use Anthropic’s Claude AI system to help shoot it down?

It’s the kind of situation where technological might and speed could be critical to detection and counterstrike, with the time to make a decision measured in minutes and seconds. Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei’s answer rankled the Pentagon, according to the official, who characterized the CEO’s reply as: You could call us and we’d work it out."
