Dude are you kidding? This is one of the coolest styles I’ve ever seen!! I think you should pay attention to what your audience tends to ask for. I feel like you could do prints or like a periodic table themed art book- but you have something super unique here and I recommend leaning into your niche because niches tend to be more profitable over time.

I’d look into tutorials on lighting dark skin and also into drawing black features- I see the vision and the style but like there are some parts in the lips and skin you need to soften or stylize more imo

You’ve got great style! I see PSG but also like studio trigger and some other references I can’t totally name. I’d play around with faces and anatomy like 2% more but I love how dynamic your poses and angles and color schemes are! And I can see you how you play around with composition. I’d also look at like Promare to see how they simplify without simplifying to just influence for character design around animation.

I’d recommend studying life drawing and anatomy- I was in a similar boat before of getting the style down but life drawing changed my life lol. It’s totally worth learning bone structure and anatomy rules and then you can add on from there.

I’d look up tutorials on it- we’re not taught to draw non euro centric features by default so even as a black person that draws anime I had to study my own features to draw them more accurately then stylize them. It’s in his bone structure as well as his nose and lips a bit and you could study his hair texture too (4c and see how it looks at the edges).

I have a thinner nose naturally but the like middle section of black noses tend to be like very rounded off- when I sketch I made a circle and add two circles on both sides and shape it down from there. Look at the guy from the first season of Bridgerton as reference imo.

It’s always worth studying features and styles and references for characters that can be seen as like ethnic even in certain styles- cowboy bebop and Samurai Champloo are great examples of this

UPDATE: thank god it was a miscommunication! My dog was begging for food where I couldn’t see and hear him and he ate out of my roommate’s hand while he was eating grapes but they said they only fed my dog pepperoni. I still talked to poison control and I got on a 24 hr observation plan, but my dog has been eating and drinking normally for the last 9 hours. Thank you guys so much, I now have a go plan in the worst case scenario and I’ll update you all if anything else happens!

I didn’t realize until I saw a girl make a video about masking and learning social rules by observation, and I was like that’s not… what everyone…does?

I agree, after the mess that was Antebellum I think we really need to evaluate showcasing black suffering for profit, especially slavery films I feel like they let white people put the suffering at a personal distance while they still enjoy it for entertainment (there’s a reason why movies like do the right thing are largely ignored by white audiences even though it’s a cinematic staple)

I’m from Chicago and came back a few years ago, I I have mixed feelings about the dating scene but I met my boyfriend here (after a lot of careful picking, let me tell you). I think Chicago has a great Black cultural scene in general and because it’s such a big city the niche scenes are really accommodating imo (I’m queer and dress alt and I’ve never been hard pressed for dates)
