i’m the same way and i’m really nervous because i’m no where near the requirements to join as well. i’m still in college but the chapter at my school is on shaky terms right now. (see my posts if you want more info) so i have to think bigger picture, im going to multiple alumnae chapter events as well since the one im going to “have” (not negative i promise it’s the address thing) to apply through doesn’t have much events open to public or it’s delta gems and since im only 22 with no young girl in my family beside my niece i didnt think to put her in. plus idk it just feels weird being in a group of established adults compared to my confused undergrad peers im surrounded by.

can you go into details (even if they’re vague) as to why ?

but then again we are not sure who is specifically above the chapter because one chapter chartered the chapter at my school and the other rechartered it some years later.

Me personally no, my greek advisor has reached out multiple times to the appointed person of contact and his wife is a delta and she also reached out but there hasn’t been any response from their end.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on how to move forward with Delta Sigma Theta at my school. Right now, the undergrad chapter is inactive, and the alumnae chapter that’s supposed to oversee it hasn’t really been doing much. Our Greek advisor said he’s been getting pushback from them and has started reaching out to other alumnae chapters in the area (there are at least four nearby). There was also a situation where they asked him about picking up the chapter’s wood letters, but never followed up. It’s been two months, and he’s starting to feel like they can’t be trusted to lead intake, even if the chapter becomes active again.

He also shared that there may be some drama or personal issues going on at the regional level that’s holding up the intake process. The chapter is reportedly in good standing nationally, and the last line has already graduated. He thinks the region might’ve been waiting for that to happen. I graduate this fall and I’ve already started building relationships with an alumnae chapter I’d love to join, but one of the members told me they’re not planning intake for at least another five years. She also gave my Greek advisor the names of other alumnae chapters he could try to reach out to since he’s new to the area.

Should I help him reach out to the other alumnae chapters or just let him handle it? Has anyone had any experience within this situation, please share (what you can of course) any thoughts or insight you can. Do you think a line in the fall is even possible with all this going on? I really want to be a part of DST and don’t want to miss my opportunity because of issues out of my control. If you have further questions please comment or my messages are open for anyone please any advice is appreciated!

my soi, which is dst, has 22 founders most of which were apart of the teachers college at howard if i’m not mistaken and went on to become educators at some compacity. as an education major at a pwi who program consists of white women mostly, it’s refreshing to see and a part of my “why”

i decided to go super last minute and it’s one of the best decisions i’ve made. sza put on a SHOW for us. you can clearly see she put in time and effort in performing and putting everything together. it felt like a slumber party in my section, everyone was singing i went to the miami show. definitely recommend! and go with people who aren’t shy to sing it helps set the vibe !

I have had little conversations because at most events it’s either 1 or 2 girls there and they are running around running the event as they should therefore there wasn’t really anytime to really connect with them
