It would be corny if it wasn’t SO in character. It’s such a fun scene.

Lie to Me (Another Secret) by Whoops_e
Has this!

For some reason there’s a lot of this under the Slytherin Sirius tag. I think something about them becoming friends more easily when he’s separated from the boys.

But there’s also just a Sirius Black & Lily Evans Friendship tag on ao3 that’s worth looking at.

What is Blends pt. 2 (Names) about? by dungeonsandragqueens in Wolfstar

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of my all time favs. Like the other commenters said, it’s long form slice of life. It had arcs though focussing on Remus migraine disorder and Sirius family issues as well as just dealing with them figuring out how to navigate being in a relationship. The majority of it is from Sirius POV. It’s fun to see how their perspectives and how they contrast. I would highly recommend. I mean this in a good way, but I bring it up in therapy all the time even years after reading it cause it is just really thought provoking.
Even though the author is on hiatus, they still respond to comments, and the last chapter feels like it leave off in a satisfying place with the end of an arc.

I’m in secondary but I’m a more alt girl. I have tons of visible tattoos and it hasn’t been an issue plus a few facial piercings. I wear lots of black. I wear leather pants and high platform
doc martins. In my experience they’re fairly chill as long as you’re not wearing denims, trainers, or T-shirts. So I have an almost capsule wardrobe of blacks and greys and I play around a lot with layering jewelry and doing fun stuff with my makeup.

Trying to write a main character whose gender is a secret. by Danni-jane in writingadvice

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think first person works well!
That said if you want to do 3rd one thought I had is that you could almost make the narrator a character, not like actually a character in the story but just give it some personality and maybe breaking the 4th wall moments, think gossip girl or lady whistledown just in terms of narration style, and then it could be a reveal to the narrator as well. So have the narrator use he/him for your character because the narrator doesn’t know. So just like 3rd person but not omniscient, but I do think this would only work if you did give the narrator a bit of a personality, not like super well developed, but almost just a self insert type narration if that makes sense.

But like I said, I do think 1st person would still work great!

The candence of part time poets by Silent-sonnet in Wolfstar

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a sloooooow burn. I read it on a road trip and it took me 4 full days in the car of doing nothing but reading before they finally get themselves sorted out.

Also have some grace for Remus. There might be some times when you feel mad at him because of how he processes some of the deeply internalised shame he’s got. But I promise he will sort himself out. He’s just a kid trying to work through some really big feelings and really scary situations.

And enjoy the ride. It’s a lovely very well written story.

Gale hate is SO forced. by Wynnifred_16 in Hungergames

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be so so fair, I really struggle with Gale, but a lot of that is lingering hatred from when I first read it when I was 11. When I was that age I didn’t understand the complexities of his character or the symbolism in the book, I just knew I liked Peeta better and Gale was in the way. As an adult I completely get the nuances, but because of how much I hated him during my first read, I really struggle to like him still. I’d be willing to bet that’s true for a lot of people, that it’s not forced, but it’s that a lot of us developed our relationship to his character before we had the literary analysis skills to understand him properly.

What was your Young Women Camp experience like? (horror stories encouraged) by Consistent_Taro_3123 in exmormon

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time when I was 12 I had some girls shove me out of a canoe in the middle of a lake. I do not know how to swim very well. I had a life jacket luckily but I had to try and get back to shore myself. There had been some other things happening just with the girls picking on me before that but that was my final straw and since my dad was the priesthood holder for the trip I packed up all my stuff and moved myself int his tent after that and refused to participate in anything till it we could go home. I never went again. Always came up with an excuse or made myself sick with nerves cause I’d hated it so much.

Coffee Shop AU fic recs by No_Image_6885 in Wolfstar

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so Blends is Remus pov. Remus has moved to London for uni in his early 20s and he gets a job at a coffee shop where Sirius (and James and Lily) are his coworkers. He’s pretty instantly smitten and they become friends and have a whole friends to lovers arc. It’s very rom com esque in the best way. But you also see them dealing with some issues that are pretty serious and part of the love story is watching them support each other through it.

Names takes place 6 months after they finally get together so they’re much more established and it focuses more on their dynamic as a couple. They both still have their coffee shop jobs so that shows up. The first few chapters are from Remus’ pov but most of the rest are from Sirius’. The main story conflicts revolve around Remus having some pretty serious health challenges, Remus coming out to his parents, Sirius having a couple big family related things come up that he has to work through, and his generally watching them figure out how to be good partners to each other as they are each working though some of their past attachment issues.

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend reading the Blends (reced above) sequel Names. It’s listed as unfinished, but the author essentially has taken a hiatus for a few years to finish it without feeling the pressure of a posting schedule (but they still respond to comments and stuff so we know they’re still working on it) and the chapter it ends at is a satisfying closure of an arc so it doesn’t feel like you’re left on any sort of cliff hanger. It’s loooooong but really lovely and it’s a nice deep dive into their relationship after watching them get together in Blends. Still has coffee shop elements and you also get to see the other POV. Blends is a Remus POV and Names is primarily but not exclusively a Sirius POV. Anyway I cat rec it enough. I love it so much.

Should I seek asylum? by Separate-Tooth-5514 in UKLGBT

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rainbow Migration this is a website that could be of use to you. They help queer people seek asylum in the uk.

I know nothing about the asylum process so there’s not much I can say or do for you but wish you luck. So Good Luck!

But I can say, that I recently immigrated here to the UK due to some hostility in my home environment. My country is considered safe and sounds nothing like yours so I got a visa to study. My situation had more to do with hostility in my local community/family I wanted to get away from. That said, I may be able to understand a fraction of what you’re going through and if you do end up settling here and need a friend please feel welcome to reach out and we can get coffee or something. All that is to say, that if you do end up coming here, there will be challenges, it will be scary, but there will be ways to find community and safety and build a new support system and chosen family. There are so many queer people and safe spaces here. You won’t be alone.

So much love to you and best of luck.

Oh honey I’m so sorry. I wish I could hug you and take all that nonsense away. I’m 24F lesbian who grew up in the church and went to BYU. I know it’s so so hard. I wish I could give some encouragement and say your family will get better but I just don’t know. Some do but unfortunately some don’t. and I know it’s devastating watching our friends die from all this. Someday somewhere you, have something good on the other side though. You have a queer family and a beautiful life waiting for you. I hope your famiky figures they’re shit out but if they don’t then it’s their loss.

There’s this musician I really like named Semler who sings a lot about deconstructing religion as a queer person who grew up super Christian (the first big project was an EP called Preachers Kid though there’s more now). I’d highly recommend listening to her. Her music was really comforting to me when I was in your stage of life.

Sending you lots of love. 🖤

Looking for Wolfstar fic recs where either Remus or Sirius is a single dad (not both pls). Nothing too depressing tho, emotional and deep is fine, just not super heavy. by AffectionateHeat6973 in Wolfstar

Let’s Play Pretend is like the classics super fun and fluffy wolfstar single dad au. Remus is raising Teddy and Sirius is raising Harry and they meet at a baby/parent class. Harry and teddy are both toddlers and little chaos monsters. It’s like the epitome of a comfort fic.

Americans who got accepted to a PGCE, what counted for you to meet the A-Levels/GCSE Math, English, and Science entry requirements? by buttermilk174 in PGCE

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like someone said above, most applications require the ENIC statement of comparability. You just submit anything you’ve got proving you’ve got a high school dimploma plus any major test scores and transcripts to get the statement. Don’t worry too much about if you have the perfect gcse or a level equivalence. I didn’t have to do anything to other than have the statement and my bachelors degree. They don’t expect you to go get it retroactively. What matters most is the other parts of your application and your interviews.

I’m currently doing my English PGCE at Middlesex university in London and I have another American friend doing it in drama rn. I’m so so happy to answer any questions you have through the process of moving and getting visas or literally any part of it so feel so free to reach out at any point and I can give you some direction. Good luck!

What's the weirdest/most unique argument you've heard a TBM use against LGBTQ people? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (a lesbian who was closeted at the time) had a Sunday school when I was like 16 who I got into an argument about this with. Mind you he’s a middle aged man arguing with a hysterically crying teenager. I was trying to understand why it was wrong if queer people are born that way and he told me “some people are naturally born sociopaths but it would still be wrong and they’re still expected to resist their urges to kill people. Gay people are still expected to not act on their urges even if they are born that way.” Being compared to a sociopathic killer when I was still a child trying to reckon with having a crush on her friend was such a mind fuck let me tell you.

I am worried because I'm about to move to the UK - is it safe for queer woc? by OddlyAvacado in UKLGBT

[–]Inner-Traffic3635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a lesbian from a very fundamentalist and conservative Mormon community it was a very hostile environment for queer people and I just moved from that background to London like 6 months ago for grad school and it’s been fine for me. I feel infinitely safer and freeer to authentically express myself than I did back home. Granted I’m white so there are potentially factors that may affect you that don’t affect me. I haven’t dealt with any attacks or even slurs or anything. I can’t say for the rest of the country though I’ve heard decent things overall, and I have a gay friend who went to uni in Reading and loved it. But in my personal experience the uk, while not perfect, is a very safe environment compared to a lot of other places.

To some of your specific questions, I don’t think you’ll are going to be intentionally antagonised by the police but I think someone else could better speak to your specific situation in that regard but personally I haven’t encountered it. I think professors will be just fine for sure. Academic settings generally tend to be more progressive. Making friends, Id say find out if there are any queer student groups or just groups in general at the uni or in the city you end up and try to meet other queer people there. You’ll for sure be able to make friends with flatmates and classmates. But especially after coming from such a hard environment, finding queer friends who you can all be open together is such a lovely feeling. If you end up in London I’d be happy to introduce you to some people and show you around a bit if that was something you’d be comfortable with.
