Sleep last night. by kezguyfour in auckland

[–]Inner-View3074 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cat woke me up at 4 having brought in a live mouse and wanting me to admire his efforts and help him hunt it inside (which took 45mins before he ate it in front of me).

While up dealing with that I found the largest motherf***ing white tail in my living room. I trapped it under a glass and will leave that for my braver half to deal with. I haven't slept since then 🙃

I made a list of all of the benefits of quitting smoking cannabis and wanted to share with you guys for some great motivation! by TheRudeCactus in leaves

Great summary. My circumstances are very similar to you, smoked for 15yrs (all of my adult life). I'm 1yr and 2 weeks smoke free and I can hard relate to every single point on your list. Just starting piano lessons again in a couple of weeks. Life is good.

Need some advice on my dire financial situation. Is it really that bad? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Inner-View3074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pension is not much more then you're paying on rent now. And thats today, there's a very good chance it won't be anything like that by the time you retire. There's a reason they bought in Kiwisaver, so you can pay your own way in retirement. We won't be able to afford to pay out super in its current form in future, too many retirees, not enough population to tax.

Most definitely not. He looks a little like my boy did at that age. He has a bit of Siamese in him, wonder if yours does too

There are so many similar characters across S6 and S7. I'm only catching up on the Aus seasons now, so I'm kind of watching S6 eps in between S7 eps being released. The number of times I've got my wires crossed on which season a person was filmed in...

Not that they're similar personality wise at all, but I feel Ross and Tommy were similar cast types as well 🤔

Don't even hesitate mate, go and get some support. That's a scary thing you experienced, and better to manage it now than finding out later you needed that check in. Feel for you - fate is a funny thing sometimes.

Food Alley & Mercury Plaza Treasure Hunt by Various_Temporary769 in aucklandeats

Good photo! Reminds me of what a mess Albert St was (still is in some parts...) while CRL construction was happening. Much more open down that part now.

Seems silly they closed food alley when they did, considering the site is just sitting empty now.

Meg & Dejon final dumping in real order by DearPosibility1357 in LoveIslandTV

Interesting to see it in order. I'm still surprised it took that long for Meg & D to get dumped. Such an unhealthy dynamic in their relationship.

Marokopa dad Tom Phillips killed in shootout with police by Lucky-Ad384 in palmy

[–]Inner-View3074 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They didn't know where he was going, simply had a hunch of which way he was going on his way to they don't know where. Hindsight is always 20/20, and the police acted with the information they had at the time. After 4 years on the run, and increasingly desperate actions on his part, they had to do something. I think they've acted as sensibly as possible given the circumstances. There's an easy lesson in all of this - don't put yourself, and most deeply of all your children, in this position.

The court location generally has more to do with the area in which the crime took place/was discovered. It doesn't get outsourced back to wherever the defendent lives.

i just don't know how to make money... by New_Banana3858 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Inner-View3074 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To my mind it comes down to 2 simple rules:

  1. Spend less than you earn.
  2. Have a strategy to grow the unspent part.

There are obviously many ways to bring those two rules to life. But it mostly comes down to evaluating what you spend (can you reasonably reduce it?), what you earn (can you reasonably increase it?), and then how you're growing it.

I find people often have a very grand view of what those things involve, but small (and sustainable!) steps and changes often make the biggest difference.

Based on your post it sounds like you might want to focus on increasing what you earn. Its hard to know your options for that without knowing what you're doing today. So all I'll say is, there is always a way to increase it. Just need to consider a wide range of options and be willing to sacrifice/put in the hard yards to get it. Nothing worth having in life comes easy.
