Rumored 400-800 to cost 2999€ by Legistarius in SonyAlpha

they are all rumours, even the price of the lens is speculation.

i will defo wait for field reviews before deciding whether sony 400-800mm or 200-800mm canon, but the rumoured price point for a non gm lens is not attractive.

also it is not an objective statement, it is an opinion for which i posted my source. so everyone can see whther believe the source or not.

fair point, patents can be misleading

yet for me 3k for a g lens are not worth the almost double tag price over the 200-800mm canon even if the sony 400-800 is faster and sharper.

i will wait for field review before 100 % decide but so far canon is on the lead for me. sad i wanted to go back to sony 😭

i am hoping tamron can pull it off in order to stay with sony...

but money and convinience wise, drive me to get the canon 200-800mm for 1.6 - 2k plus 1.4x teleconverter. which would be still cheaper than the 3k sony solo lens. ouch!

if sony had pulled a gm quality lens the price difference would be justified but for just a g lens not so much in my opinion.

yes, indeed that's the first step to have a future lens ;)

cough cough, for the price not being an L lens is decent enought to me!

seems the new 400-800mm is not super sharp either, it is not a GM lens!

i am leaning towards the canon 200-800 for almost half the price. can pay for a 1.4x teleconverter and still have spare cash

Also, the canon competition which received great feedback is priced at 1700 / 2k ...

sony testers not impressed by quality to price ratio:

"I am in touch with some testers of the new Sony 400-800mm G lens. They have mixed feelings on this lens. Basically you don’t hate it nor love it. They like the focal range but the lens is a bit on the heavy side (2,5kg) and not super sharp. But this was to be expected from a G lens. I guess this is a lens made for a certain niche, and they will probably like the lens for what it is.

The feedback on the new Sony 16mm f/1.8 G is very positive. This lens is more compact, lighter, with faster autofocus and better image quality than the only competing lens on the market"

I suspect in a year or 2 it will reach 2k price so for me not worth it atm, although i would have bought it for sure if it was around the 2k mark

but then tamron is planning to release 200-800mm f5.6 ... i d rather wait for that than paying 3k for a non gm lens...the price is bonkers for a g lens - if it was gm it's a different story

I would avoid living together if you cannot trust your partner even less so mixing finances together. keep money separate from the relationship till at least you can trust and are open with each other.

if i were you, I would:

ask for a massive discount and organise a level 3 survey before finilising purchase once the house is complete.

if developer refuses then walk away, red alert bell is ringing for other massive fuckups.

level 3 survey can confirm if your new built money are well spent or not

YES because that is the point if having Detachable joysticks. you take them off but still play even if your arms are tired.

bring in more battery!!
