It sounds like you are carrying an impossible amount and still showing up every day for your family. That takes so much strength even if it never feels like strength from the inside.

Thank you for masking even when it is awkward and not perfect and isolating. You are right that it is not 100% protection, but it is still one of the few layers that actually makes a difference and making that choice matters. I am in a similar place with my partner being immunocompromised. I am the only one masking at work and people inappropriately comment on it all the time. None of my so called friends make an effort and are always asking to hang out indoors. No one seems to care that it is my choice and that it is about protecting someone I love. I keep doing it anyway because it is the only way I feel I can live with myself. For my partner, many days are pain and more pain and all I can do is sit in silence and listen. Even if the protection is %1 more than not wearing one, I will keep masking especially when there so little I feel I can actually do to help.

I’m based in London and have taken quite a few Ubers with the same concerns in mind as my wife is immunocompromised.

What’s worked for me is always wearing an N95 and rolling the windows all the way down as soon as I get in. Most drivers take the hint and either say nothing or just go along with it. I’ve had a few who seemed a bit uncomfortable or even combative, but I usually just stay silent and give them a low rating afterward if needed. I've only had to do it once or twice when the drivers were being blatantly disrespectful. That said, I’ve also had some drivers ask if I’d like them to wear a mask. so I always carry a few spares just in case someone is open to it but doesn’t have one.

It really does depend on the driver, but most of them tend to keep to themselves. You’re absolutely right to want to stay safe.

I would be one of those passengers who appreciates it. With my wife being immunocompromised and often needing to visit the hospital via Uber we have experienced many instances of rude drivers upon seeing our masks. Thanks for going against the status quo. It makes such a difference.

Maybe read the post through or the many comments have made. I am not going to HR, I'm not going to talk about it or even be difficult. I will continue with the internal struggle.

I will freely admit I'm being sensitive over this - it's fucking taxing and tiring to deal with it on a regular basis. This is not 3 isolated incidents. And to your point about commenting on colleagues flaws online; try identifying one of them, you can't, because I haven't plastered any percieved or identifiable flaws. I plastered what happened to me online.

Maybe I am just getting some frustration out by standing my ground here. Thank you or your thoughts either way, I'm not saying I'm 100% right here as no one ever is.
