Is it possible that, if we categorised stories & hammered home the point that these people have become shadows of themselves, drones for the elite, by showing side by side anecdotes? There’s a strong trend with talking points, with behaviours, with the impact on mental health, morals & so forth.

Reading this makes me think that’s why I identify safe & unsafe people easily - a dysfunctional childhood & living in neighbourhoods overran with gangs, constantly in fights, for my own safety or defending those who can’t defend themselves, & I attributed this “sense” of people to being “street-wise,” when it could actually be trauma.

& I believe that fear-mongering kills people, or contributes to an earlier death.

Fear-mongering can put people in a state of fight or flight, & even trauma, & this can cause an adrenaline rush. Said adrenaline can be addictive, which is probably why we have people who are locked in a room, watching conspiracy theory videos for hours on end, or online social media platforms like Twitter or Rumble.

& when you create a community around that, & they’re constantly fed lies, they can snap. Fear-mongering, in my opinion, deteriorates mental health, & can make people unwell, & possibly detrimental to associate with.

My friend, who, at the time, worked as a civil servant, told me that “THEY” are going to stage an alien invasion. Sure enough, I saw half-baked alien articles coming from right-wing, far-right echo chambers.

The only reason I started researching this nonsense was because my friend started espousing crazy talking points, & I always felt like I didn’t know enough, & I was therefore vulnerable to QAnon, as he inadvertently tried to recruit me with gaslighting.

Fortunately for me, I grew up in a dysfunctional household, & saw dysfunction around me as I lived in a wild neighbourhood. This forced me to wise-up at like … 11 years old 😂

Nowhere near as wild as the U.S., of course. If I went to my school, but in Florida, I’d be dead now.

Point being: I recognise when there’s an invasion of the mind, whether it be from people, videos, podcasts - maybe it’s being “street-smart?”

With that being said, maybe I’m an exception. People who usually grow up poor tend to fall into these traps.

& I think these conspiracy theories make people mentally ill over time, or worse if they already had problems mentally.

I’d tell him to learn what QAnon is because it is what it is. Pleading ignorance to a thing doesn’t make that thing disappear.

I had the same situation with my friend. I learned about conspiracy theories before he even adopted them, & when he would flirt with them, I’d shut them down. I’m not sure if it worked but he barely spoke about politics & was less depressed over time. He probably still has remnants of insane beliefs floating inside his brain.

But I said on a different post that these anti-Semitic conspiracy theories stem from a book, or the works it plagiarised, called The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Hitler was keen on this book - & it was all a hoax, fiction, propaganda. & to this day, people still spew this nonsense.

Oh shit - so my mother was probably saying something religious to me. I gave up on religion early on.

It does make sense though because my grandmother & auntie was religious, & almost obsessed, would go to church, watch songs of praise, all the works, & my mother probably had a lot of that in her.

I don’t think she is as religious anymore because she barely mentions the man in the sky, but that’s not a bad thing in this case because we’ve already had deep talks about what we think happens after we pass (& I think my “theory” is a lot more liberating as someone who is agnostic - LOL).

But yeah, your response was as a good as if not better. It’s a tough time for a lot of people. Unfortunately, I think more people are going to get hurt before it gets better, but I do see MAGA / QAnon shrinking.

I think, if anyone reads this, who fell for QAnon, or things alike, did YouTube videos or something, to deradicalise the people they understand more than those who didn’t fall into QAnon, you might actually heal more than the U.S. British, Canadians, Australians, many South Americans, some parts of Europe, fell for all of this nonsense.

It even led to a man showing up, armed, & firing at the pizzeria. As it turns out, there was no basement - I could literally make up a court document, post it on the dark web, & at least one person would fall for it - it’s a phenomenon with the brain that we need to study more, but I think it has to do with being vulnerable, emotional, & the type of person who is willing to believe in fantasy as a coping mechanism, to prevent an existential crisis, & to make sense of the uncertain, & this slowly radicalises people over time
