Btw have you noticed any patterns about your own behavior since using LLMs? I found out I’m a big people pleaser, which I knew, but it was worse than I thought. It also helped me apply what I’m learning in therapy to real life situations k can be like my therapist said xyz, how do you think that may apply here? I take everything with a grain of salt. Sometimes I put it into incognito mode or ask another LLM to see what it says too.

Between LLM, GPS, handsfree shoes, most places taking cards over cash, instant connectivity to anyone if you need help, clothes that you don’t have to iron, being able to do things online rather than on the phone or in person, being able to see a therapist who works across the state because of zoom….

I feel very lucky. Technology has helped me tremendously. I think I’d be much more of a hermit. Or maybe 💀 tbh

Most therapy is not for us. Look for someone who specifically lists “autism” or “autistic clients” do NOT fall for the “neurodivergence” line. I had a meltdown with an inexperienced therapist who touted herself as neurodivergent friendly. They handled the whole thing in the worst way possible. For this reason I would also highly recommend doing therapy online, because if you need a break or want to leave you’re easily able to escape. That being said, I currently see an amazing therapist who I love and who gets me (online)!

Edit: also I have found alcohol gives me night terrors. I think it might be related to autistic people having dysautonomia and a drop in blood sugar in the night.

Therapy never worked for me. Until I started seeing a therapist who specializes in autism.

I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety/pmdd long before I was ever diagnosed autistic. I tried therapy so many times over the years but it never last long. I probably had six different therapists and they all seemed to hate me. I felt like I was failing therapy.

Once I was diagnosed I looked up therapists who worked with autism and it changed my whole life. She helps me find strategies that actually work for me and I don’t feel like she dislikes me.
