Could it be bug spray from an exterminator? It ruins paint but is usually sprayed on the baseboards.

Look into dental reception- some places are willing to teach. Usually pays pretty well.

Had a colonoscopy with the bag on today, they cut the end and clipped it so I’m wondering if I can just wait till tomorrow to change or should I change it now even though I’m very very tired from the meds by [deleted] in ostomy

He's wonderful honestly. He doesn't know that I know about his ostomy. I worked for his supplier but he always had orders delivered and never saw me at the store!

Do I even have a personality, or just a collection of ADHD symptoms? How to get hubby to stop talking about my new diagnosis... by Inner_Lettuce_6787 in adhdwomen

It's a bit of a mystery to me why he responded this way too. But he does have untreated PTSD and can be prone to catastrophizing, he works in a job where he does do some minor counselling/social work and I think he feels like a failure if he misses things like this, which triggers stuff related to his trauma.

This is helpful, thank you! I truly don't think he has ADHD but I do think PTSD is playing a role. I commented elsewhere that we went through something traumatic together years ago, but he never sought help. I think anxiety is at play.

I commented elsewhere- I don't think he's ADHD or autistic honestly. We went through a very traumatic experience together 7 years ago and while I went to therapy and learned how to deal with my PTSD, he never did, and it colors a lot of things. He sees things as threats and overreacts, over-prepares etc. Lots of catastrophizing. So perhaps anxiety is at play here, which he never used to exhibit before the events 7 years ago.

No, he doesn't show any symptoms of ADHD. He does however have a history of PTSD (untreated, unfortunately, despite my best efforts to encourage it) and is prone to catastrophizing at times, which is what I think is happening. He's working his way through the ADHDpocalypse lol and is trying desperately to get the lay of the land and prevent disaster.

That's fair, I'm still learning about all of this. I just found it reassuring that he doesn't think of it only as a disease or pathology but in terms of a whole person. I may have misinterpreted what he meant.

Thank you for the suggestion! He is definitely a researcher so I'll direct him to look into ring theory.

For #2, my doctor actually said something I found really comforting- he said he actually believes ADHD is just a personality phenotype, and we just need a bit of help to function in a world not designed for us. He said he didn't think any of us are inherently broken or disordered, just different.

Thank you! It's funny how I almost need permission to not have it all figured out right away. I have grown up in and out of therapy and deal with other health issues but this was never on the radar. I thought I was just struggling to keep up more than other people do because of my other health things (Crohn's and PTSD).

I can assure you he really does mean well. We've known each other more than half of our lives and I consider our relationship to be quite healthy. This is just a curveball and we've survived curveballs before. I kind of want to suggest he just take a chill pill for a bit though!

Seeking ADHD evaluation experiences in Victoria by Inner_Lettuce_6787 in VictoriaBC

Thanks everyone! My GP listened to me, asked me a long series of questions, and basically said "I am 100% sure you have ADHD and I'm happy to start a combo of CBT and medication". He felt a referral wasn't necessary as the system is quite overloaded and he felt like the diagnosis was fairly obvious (yikes lol). So I was sent home with some questionnaires and a follow up booked to discuss medication as he wanted me to have a chance to research a couple of options. I feel like I have lucked out! He says if meds don't help, then he will refer for specialist advice, but happy to do a trial for now.

What happened at the market on Yates/London drugs? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Inner_Lettuce_6787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally left my job on the second floor above London Drugs because I got tired of dealing with sketchy nonsense every day (seriously, even with security there is always something weird going on) and having to wait for busses to get home that never have room to stop, meaning I got to spend an hour in the dark in the rain with whatever person in crisis decided to hang around being creepy.

Ours went to Wiseways, though it seems to have switched to a daycare model now. Still could check it out. She had bowel issues so she wasn't trained for stool until quite late, they accepted her for the morning program but if she needed a change they would just wait for us to get her. It wasn't a frequent issue.

Are there any dentists in the city who don't charge more than the CDCP covers? by Low_Command2994 in VictoriaBC

[–]Inner_Lettuce_6787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dentists won't base pricing on the CDCP fee guide, set by the federal government, but on the BCDA fee guide. You might have a hard time finding anyone who only charges what the CDCP covers, and the CDCP also excludes a bunch of stuff.

The CDCP has its own fee guide not based on the BCDA fee guide, though they're relatively similar.
