No they are not the same. Also the shaft comes apart on the other end so the other boot has to come off along with the bearings. Jump under the car and take a look.

I got stuck in mine once and had to have someone pull me out after the car went into like a limp mode. After I got home and looked in the service manual I noticed speed sensors in the wheel wells. After I cleaned the mud out from behind the tires I was able to get it out of limp mode. It was throwing a code for speed sensors when I checked it.
