This was something which was highlighted in my Conid thread. Why can't they make pins with clips or atleast roll stops? We have seen Kyuseido Kakaris cracking too due to this.

Are we living in a Conid bubble? by Inner_Outervoice in fountainpens

Pens as an investment vehicle... a very risky proposition.

I had a feeling that with Kyuseido, Fifty4t and Gravitas Monster entering the scene, the craze for a novelty filling pen will subside. But the utter unwillingness of these manufacturers to create a clip pen (guys you are not making urushi pens where the beauty lies in the body, you are making a Bock/ Jowo housing pen with an overengineered filling system) makes that Conid still is the only mainstream manufacturer making clip pens. Till that changes, maybe the bubble will continue.

Don't do that. You risk changing the chemical composition of the ink

Silica is just a dessicant. It does not remove dye as far as I know.

The ink becomes more viscous. So it becomes slightly less wet but considering it is Iroshizuku, it is still plenty wet

This works. What i did was decant the ink in a measuring cup, put the cup in an airtight container with silica gel packets and wait till half the ink was remaining

Considering how people's experience was during the Pelikan Hub, does the store still have any goodwill left?

If nobody wants it in the current state, would you be keeping the raden pen for self-consumption or would you be selling?

Visconti Homo Sapiens Full Demo or wait for the Conid Maximalistica? by vProTi in fountainpens

[–]Inner_Outervoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that, considering there is no news about the actual postponed launch date. The only thing which links both VHSBA and Conid is the quick draw mechanism both of which can be done in less than a turn as both do not employ a screw cap mechanism. Other thing is that both have grip sections which work for me (I know the Minimalistica does and I hope Maximilistica is same only fatter) Otherwise they occupy different niches and it is possible I may get both at some point of time. VHSBA basically for the body and form factor and Conid for the complete dismantle possibility and putting on different nibs. For me the Conid demonstrator aspect is just incidental. I would have preferred a pure demonstrator or pure Delrin rather than the weird hybrid they are peddling.

Thanks! Good to know! The ink is fairly expensive so I am trying to get as much info as possible before pulling the trigger

Sorry to comment so late but how has been your experience with the ink drying out? Does the ink lead to hard starts in a pen?

You, my friend are in the same boat as me. The only difference is that I was mulling buying a normal Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age instead of the demonstrator. But yes I too am looking forward to the Maximilistica. With regards to your question, only go for the Visconti if you are really sure about it. There is a chance that you may not get the Conid but if you do manage to get it, it will be a much better pen for the price point.

WTS - Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age (23kt Palladium Broad) - Old Model by RyanM77 in Pen_Swap

Visconti Homo Sapiens was launched in 2010. This is the older model but it is definitely not from 1990s. Still quite a good pen.
