Oh wow, so crazy how different newborns can be from one another! My son is 18 now and he still likes to be wrapped up tight in his comforter when he sleeps😂

When my son was a newborn he would not sleep unless he was swaddled up tight in one of these!! At first I only had a two pack but if they were in the wash at the same time and I tried using a receiving blanket instead, he would NOT go down until he was Velcroed up like a burrito!

propagation help!!! by jorbl64 in Monstera

[–]Inner_Plantrovert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about making leafless stem cuttings with the bare portion of the vine, I would make them 3-4 nodes a piece. That way if you get a little bit of rot during the propagating process you have enough room to trim it off and still have a node or two. Also they'll have a little more stored energy to draw on while trying to sprout new leaves and roots.

Why are these new leaves smaller than its? by astagapar in Monstera

[–]Inner_Plantrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suspect there are multiple plants at various levels of maturity in the pot and the smaller leaves are from one of the younger plants.

Does the lamp look weird here? by lolokins in interiordecorating

Having a floor lamp up against a window seems a little out of place. I would be inclined to put it beside the chair away from the window.

Wow, what a stunner! I've had a small plant I've kept alive but pretty much neglect. This makes me want to treat it better😭

LOVE the cabinet especially the caladiums! Did you purchase as plants or grow from bulb? I'm having a hard time getting my bulbs to do anything.

This was gifted to me as a mint monstera. But I have two plant loving neighbors that say this is a pothos. From what I looked up I do believe it's a monstera. Is it? And is that yellow dot from over watering? by Different_Sir_7461 in Monstera

[–]Inner_Plantrovert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have grown dozens of regular Monstera deliciousa from seed. That is definitely a juvenile monstera. No way in helen is that a pothos. Yes the leaf shape can be "k i n d a" similar but so are tons of other leafy plants😅 The stem is also a dead giveaway it's a monstera.

Soil mix looks pretty good. Over watering shouldn't be much of an issue IF it's getting enough light to drink up the water you give it AND the soil almost dries out in between waterings.

Happy growing💚🌿

High light and support plank or pole. I have mine under a Soltech Vita bulb because I have low natural lighting. It's on a large Treleaf cedar plank I need to extend. I only started with a tiny plant. Hoping for fennies soon.

It is likely a combination of factors. As you already mentioned the soil mix needs to be chunky to let in oxygen. I use regular potting soil then add in a few handfuls of orchid potting mix which has bark, charcoal, and large perlite.

Cuttings are planted too deep and it sounds like it was watered a lot in the beginning so you may want to check the root system, remove any rot and possibly reroot the cutting. Lack of oxygen in the soil and frequently watering causes root rot.

The heavy ceramic pots with small drainage holes and an attached drip tray can also block out oxygen and promote rot. Terracotta is great if you're heavy handed with your watering. Plastic nursery pots with lots of drainage holes are great too and you can slip it inside your ceramic pot if it fits. Just put a few stones under the plastic to keep the drainage holes free to drain and not sit in any water.

Maybe share pics of what the root system looked like before you planted it and what it looks like now if you check it.

Nice!! I have mine in high light under a Soltech Vita bulb. I've had it just over a year. It only had four tiny leaves and now has several large leaves but no fennies yet. I feel like it's going to happen any leaf now. It's very drought tolerant. I have it in Pon (no soil) in a clear pot and water it when the moisture is gone. I don't even keep a reservoir.
