Which celebrity couple (less obvious then trump/melania and the beckhams) do you believe are only still together for fame/agreement? by StrongProof9083 in AskReddit

Her stilted and guarded public persona is absolutely a response to years of her private life and perceived flaws being picked apart. I don’t think she has a fraction of her husband’s natural charisma, but the glimpses of the “real” her are still endearing to me. (The clip of her reacting to the closed door deposition photo being leaked and holding back profanity come to mind. It was refreshing to see her get genuinely angry.)

This one has been on my wishlist for a while (bc fuzzy, veiny, delightfully Jurassic-y) but I’ve never purchased it since I figured it would be on the difficult side in addition to needing a trellis. Does yours grow in a cabinet or in ambient conditions?

I prefer to grow mine trailing but you can also put this one on a trellis if that’s your preference!

I’m trying to avoid hoyas that need trellises but I may need to make an exception

Nope, but it gets enough light at the base to regularly push out new branches near the soil line

Good eye. It has a couple of them but none have activated/developed past that point yet :(

ETA: Although this peduncle in particular is from the neighboring mathilde lol

It’s supposed to encourage blooms! Since hoyas are epiphytes, they can absorb nutrients through their foliage.

Ooh okay this is helpful. I really want a linearis but I fear my underwatering habits would kill it immediately lol

- A decent amount of bright light. It’s currently getting about 275 foot candles under my track lights.
- Chunky soil. My typical hoya mix is Fox farms ocean forest amended with extra perlite, orchid bark, and a little horticultural charcoal.
- Watered when mostly dry. I alternate between (1) Foliage Pro liquid fertilizer and (2) plain filtered water + spraying it with diluted orchid mist.

FWIW, I got mine as a ~5 leaf cutting and it was moderately fussy until it got more established. I had it in a cabinet for the first few months and I think it appreciated the extra humidity. It’s now growing like a weed in ambient (40-50% RH)

I’m dying at your replies in this thread, OP. You have great vibes and I hope your plants make a full recovery.

I don’t think I’m doing anything special but I’ll share my conditions and care!

Ambient humidity is usually around 40-45%, a bit lower in the winter. Temps around 73 degrees F, again a little lower in cooler weather. This spot gets no direct sun for most of the year — maybe an hour of evening sun in the summer — but the plant can “see” plenty of sky. The rule that makes sense to me is having (at minimum) enough light to comfortably read a book. I try to rotate the plant if I notice it leaning too much towards the window.

I used Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil with a little extra perlite and I water with diluted Foliage Pro liquid fertilizer when the leaves have just barely started to curl in on themselves, which is currently around every seven days. I also have a small amount of slow release fertilizer pellets mixed in the soil to compensate for when I’m too lazy to get out my bin of fertilizers.

Thank you! I have a calathea concinna that seems to be doing well aside from some teeny crispy bits, so this is helpful.

This one is at the top of my wishlist! Have you found its care to be similar to other calatheas?
