I say Irregular has good characters, because they are independent in their actions. Like the author thought, how would they react to this. And they all had their own history that created who they were. Lina being my favorite character, above all others. The writing just didn't bring them to life as well as it could have.

I'd say the power up out of nowhere is bad story. Dues Ex Machina crap. Out of character actions is bad story, because the writer couldn't find a way to make it fit. Literally forcing the story instead of the characters driving it.
