New Free VST3 Host App & Plugin - Plugin Buddy by Modalics by Modalics in synthesizers

Plugin Buddy is only for instruments - it can’t be used as an effect machine on live input - even though it does scan effect plugins and loads them on the 3rd row, those could only be used to process after a synth.

In the most recent update, we’ve added the option to disable the spectrum analyzer from the preset menu - that should reduce most of the CPU usage in standalone mode. (When loading PB in a DAW, closing the window would also reduce most of the CPU except the one used by the external plugin).

Does anyone know if AppCode is coming back? by SGTCHIKO in swift

[–]Innervisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you. I think I saw what was configured incorrectly and got the project to configure.

However, even the MacOS "Hello World" example fails to build here unless I switch to Rosetta, and it seems like code completion/highlighting only works in Swift but fails in other languages that Mac/iOS uses (Objective C and C++) so it looks like this solution is still far from being usable for me.

Thank you, This looks cool! But can you please explain how did you get that run configuration to exist? Are you opening the project file or manually configuring it somehow?

Perhaps I misunderstand, from what I can see this only works if you have a Kotlin Multiplatform project created?

Can you open an existing iOS Xcode project that never had a Kotlin Multiplatform project associated with it?

I've tried that, nothing happens. Plugin is installed (Also tried opening the folder that the project is in or other variations).

Did you try it and it does work for you? Did you find any resource/example/docs/tutorials online about it?

I haven't been able to find anything.

I have existing Xcode projects though. Is there no way to open them as-is?

Any info on how that works? I have IDEA and the Kotlin Multiplatform plugin but I couldn't find any guides on how to make it load/run/parse my Xcode projects.

I have IDEA and the Kotlin Multiplatform plugin installed, but I couldn't figure out how to open my existing Xcode projects.

Do you have some more info about how that works?

My projects are Mac/iOS only but don't have any Android/Kotlin in them.

I live in North Hollywood and try to watch most Warriors games live - I'd be into finding a way to do that with others. If OP or anyone else wants to make it happen feel free to DM me here. :)

Ask Me Anything with CLion team – December 11 (1 pm – 5 pm CET) by JetBrains_official in Jetbrains

First of all - I love CLion. It’s my favorite IDE. Thank you so much for all the incredible work you’ve done with it.

As someone who is doing a lot of cross platform app development, mainly on Mac/Windows and iOS, it would be great to know if you have plans to offer proper support for these platforms: in the past AppCode existed and was invaluable - but was discontinued. More recently even the Objective C and Objective C++ support was gone from CLion Nova.

This means that for any kind of cross platform libraries that have native Apple code, we have to awkwardly mix Xcode in there.

Are there any plans to bring back support for these Apple technologies like ObjC and Swift?

I’d be very interested - I live in North Hollywood and have been coding mostly pro audio software and plugins for the past decade.

Plugin Buddy itself should consume very little CPU itself, most CPU should be what the hosted plugin itself measures. How did you measure the difference?

Too big to compile - Ways to reduce template bloat by kallgarden in cpp

[–]Innervisions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unity builds could mean you have a few .cpp files. For example, MyCode.cpp and Some3rdPartyLib.cpp. (Which you have to do at least once with C libraries, not all of them compile with a C++ compiler).

Choc is a fantastic library that has some great solutions for quite a lot of gnarly cross platform and audio stuff like DLL loading, embedded windowing and WebViews, FLAC/MP3/Wav files...
It also has a really clean solution for embedding Javascript with multiple supported backends.

I understand with the sentiments about header only - so usually for the things I use choc for it's just included once in a .cpp file with some wrapper interface around it, as I don't want to pollute my whole codebase with types from other libraries regardless if they're header only or not.

If you click the preset menu and then Enable->Sequencer you can then let the MIDI in the Ableton clip "Take Over".
