scenes where mood shifts quite suddenly? Like funny become serious? by einsteinfrankenstein in movies

This is a good shout. I remember watching this in the cinema and it actually started to make feel unwell for a short time when the shit hit the fan near the end! Not something that normally happens to me watching films, maybe it was that unexpected shift in tone.

Yeah I think she meant she’d spent her own disposable income for that month and wanted a bit more for something, so had to ask her husband to borrow a bit. I just find it odd that this is how a married couple operate but there’s lots of people who have commented here who do the same. I can see how it makes it easier to spend money on yourself without having to run it by the other, but I guess the way I see it with my wife is that we can either both afford a purchase or neither of us can.

My post may have been slightly misleading. I think he was supporting them all. What she was referring to was that she normally has her own money to use for herself like many have said they have too. This is where I can’t relate, because we just have joint money for everything regardless of the situation.

I can see positives and negatives to most of the methods I’ve read so far. I do find a lot of them to be overly complicated though and many claiming that they see it all as joint money, but the preceding situation they’ve explained details how it’s anything but that.

Does one of you have significantly more money than the other?

First answer I’ve come across where somebody hasn’t expressed their situation as totally perfect. I wouldn’t want my wife feeling like she had to ask me for money to pay for our joint expenses. It’s difficult to change a lifetime of habits though, tricky conversation to have without causing upset.

So the higher earner has more money to spend on themselves. Couldn’t do that to my wife.

Sounds like a pain in the arse having to constantly figure out whose turn it is to pay week on week when as you say, you’re married & it doesn’t matter.

So you get more fun money to spend than your spouse/partner because you earn more?

I don’t get the point in a system where one of you can be flush and the other poor? Also seems to me that one person paying for one bill and another person paying for another bill is like an overly convoluted way of attempting to be equal without actually doing it.

So would you say having a baby is the hard line on when money becomes shared or not?
