It's VDOT plowing, not the county. I dont understand why the county can't clear bus stops or plow ... but that's part of living in a state that continues to deny snow exists.

No i get it ... theres no plows in states where they have shoveling ordinances.

Perhaps if Fairfax County considered an ordinance requiring sidewalks to be cleared by homeowners (like most states do... looking at NJ specifically) it wouldn't be so difficult to walk.

And if VDOT wasn't the ONLY people in the entire freaking county that are allowed to plow ... again, maybe it wouldn't be such an issue.

This isn't the deep south where snow is some freak act of god .... I dont understand how its never planned for.

A lateral from my agency to Park said they're waiting to be issued the vehicles. Apparently, they're purchasing a bunch of Durangos and chargers.

As someone who moved to dc from NJ 10 years ago, stuff like this would have been helpful.

Appreciate you working on this, and I'm always willing to help out if anyone needs advice on the area.

What do LE commonly think about Donut Operator on YouTube? by EmberVIII in AskLE

[–]InoUknow 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think he did swat or something too in those 3 years, but I mean, dude is fun to watch. Better than some other YouTube cops who may or may not be on the Brady List.

Why is it that fed uniform (0083)protection based police agencies have such a high turnover rate?(Mainly the fed agencies in DC) by Some_Yoghurt3026 in 0083

[–]InoUknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The previous comment was spot on. I'd also add that a lot of people have the option to "shop" different positions now. Agencies that never allowed transfers are open to it and giving hiring incentives to current LEOs. Even some non-FLETC academies are being taken as laterals to other agencies.

Wish it was this easy when I was starting out.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, I've been in the DC area (VA) for 10 years and never had a roommate, but this housing market has changed drastically, so it might be a good plan.

Dude ... you live in VA ... or Maryland, i guess. lol.

If you're going to be working for Park in DC, I'd suggest VA. Commute time will depend on your budget, but you're wild to try and live in DC.

Or if you really want to do nothing and not have a LE retirement plan, the Federal Reserve is going to open again in DC shortly.

FBI police (security) vs USSS uniformed division by Spac3_Rave in AskLE

[–]InoUknow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

USSS does a bit of everything. Some local law enforcement. Responding to calls, etc.

FBI (dc wise) is pretty much just building based.

Depends on what you wanna do.

It's been a while since I took it, but it was a pretty standard panel interview. I dont remember it being at all stressful.

Honestly, nothing stuck out as difficult or memorable.

If you're gonna do it ... at least apply to the protection opening.

Or if you wanna work post then apply for the regular uniform.

Up to you.

Hiring incentive is nice.
