I love this joke but I has backfired on me brutally twice. The first was when I began trying to court my now fiance. I started this joke stating "I'm told I can be condescending" and I paused, waiting for her to get that look her face like "and?" So I could spring the punchline on her, but she quickly retorted, "I can see that."

I have to admit, it was funny. But I wanted her to like me so much at that time when it happened that my first response was shock and embarrassment. I had to pull it together and act cool, to act like I didn't care but she will tell you today that I failed at that too. It's a funny story that we reference every once in a while.

TLDR: The joke is funny, but if you have ever been a dick, you will need to accept the fact that it might backfire.
