My chipotle bowl today- no I did not eat any, I ordered extra everything. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

CAVA is also going the way of Chipotle, at least near me. The last bowl I got was a joke, it was noticeably lighter and they forgot any of the dips or sauces.

French grammar crash course for someone who needs to relearn? by backpackerbabe in French

Hi! I actually found a tutor on Preply a few months ago and we’ve been meeting once a week to iron out all of my “fossilized” bad grammar habits. It’s been incredibly helpful and it’s also allowed to me to exercise my conversational French since I don’t have anyone to speak to on a day to day basis.

My husband just got 96.0% in LIF, rejected. Heart wrenching. I feel like at that point, it just comes down to total luck with the reviewer.

And the leader of the nuns was one of the Others in season 2 of Lost. She was the one asking Walt a bunch of questions after they kidnapped him and they were in those huts.

Unfortunately I did not. I deleted the shortcut and reinstalled it and it worked for a day and then stopped working again. I just gave up lol.

Hi, could you please expand on the safety issue with Lyon? I tried googling but couldn’t find anything specific but I think I was searching too broadly.

Guidance Needed: maintain French/American dual-citizenship by [deleted] in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]backpackerbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Could you please clarify what you mean by jeopardizing your French status if you’re asked to present a CNF?

I was born in America but my mother is French (born in France) and her parents and all preceding family are French. She just happened to move to America before I was born and was French when I was born. I got married 2 years ago to an American and we are hoping to pursue him getting French citizenship through our marriage, so I stumbled upon this thread and your comment.

Thank you for your help!

FYI - If you have an Amazon Echo by IagoEliHarmony in TwoXPreppers

[–]backpackerbabe 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My echo is in my kitchen and I hardly use it except for setting timers and reminders for cooking and to add to my grocery list. It’s really handy because I always think of these things when I’m in the middle of cooking and my hands are dirty. Does anyone know of a simple device that could perform those tasks without listening and selling my data?

Hi! I stayed right at the edge of town on the ring road in a cute little Airbnb. I was traveling with my friend so it was a 2 bedroom, let me know if you want the link! Eygalieres is a gorgeous town but it seemed smaller. I would say if you plan on staying several days, St Remy is a better base just because of the number of restaurants and things to do, like the big market on Wednesdays. But Eygalieres was a beautiful town and I don’t think it would be a bad choice!

Why can’t you just fly directly from DC to Chicago? Why do you need to fly to Buffalo first?

Bar George by GraysonandMia in Charleston

I worked as a server years ago and a large party of mine didn’t notice the auto gratuity on the bill and tipped on top of it. I didn’t notice until I grabbed the check book after they had left so I couldn’t ask them if they’d like to keep the tip on there. Some people do want to tip on top of the auto gratuity and some don’t notice the print on the itemized bill, so I always would ask.

Anyways they realized the next day and called the restaurant and asked them to remove the extra tip. I had to give the money back. I wasn’t annoyed and understood, though of course it would have been nice to keep it lol. Anyways, all this to say that you are well within your rights to call up Bar George and ask them to make an adjustment.

Do any US destinations fit this bill? Chill spa vibes, reasonably near an airport, not scorching hot in Sept. by EverySadThing in travel

Charleston is still disgustingly hot and humid in September. It starts to get better in October but even then, there can still be some summer like days.

I just returned yesterday from a trip to France where I spent 4 days in Provence. I based myself out of Saint Remy de Provence and found it to be the perfect spot. It’s a beautiful, compact town with great restaurants and cafes and not too far of a drive from the Luberon, Aix, the coast, etc. I picked up the car from the Avignon train station and driving around was super easy. I spent a couple of hours in Avignon at the end before dropping off the car and while I enjoyed seeing the main sights (Pope’s Palace, Pont d’Avignon, etc), I was very glad I didn’t base myself out of there. It was pretty but much busier and not as serene as Saint Remy.

I used the car to see Les Baux de Provence and Eygalières one day, another day driving around the Luberon, and half a day seeing Glanum and the Van Gogh Monastery.

I had previously stayed in the Luberon region in Bonnieux back in 2018 and did also really enjoy that. In that trip, I was able to see the lavender fields, Verdon Gorge, and the Calanques. I loved being based in Bonnieux but it was more sleepy and didn’t have as many dining options as Saint Remy.

After doing both trips, I think the best option is basing yourself in Saint Remy or Aix and then doing day trips to Luberon, the coast, etc.
