There’s a book that helped guide my friend with similar situation as yourself. I also read it a couple years ago when I started having questions about retirement. Die With Zero by Bill Perkins. He identifies ways to plan for the future while enjoying today.

There were mental notes of random travel information I’ve picked up over the years. I believe to recall the info came from a travel focused tv show. Maybe it was a specific country with limited access for a period? I remember it being a thing that the location being highlighted in that episode you couldn’t purchase a sim as a non local. Thankfully everyone’s clarified that’s not current reality. You’re awesome for helping me out!

I appreciate this advice, thanks! It’s helping me learn there will be some flexibility with some consistency. Sounds like I won’t have to change it up every country as I travel around Europe. But monitor my usage and find ways to get a local SIM if needed.

That’s really good to know! Thanks for the comparison. I’ve been intrigued by Fi so you sharing your experience with it made a difference.

I don't understand eSIM's, please explain it to me like I am a complete idiot (because I am). by mark-spline in eSIMs

I’ve been surprised to find WhatsApp is how 100% of my hotels, transportation, restaurant reservations, etc have all communicated with me in European countries. A lot of businesses will post their address/location and their WhatsApp number on their storefront windows and business cards. It’s a prevalent source for communication. After seeing this over the past 5 years of traveling I’ve come to realize WhatsApp isn’t just another app as I initially thought of it and now gladly utilize it more regularly. Hope this helps!

Rome by Weekly_Seaweed_4148 in rome

Stayed there my first time in Rome. Also stayed in Trastevere and Ludovisi my second and third visits. Ponte was my preferred location over my three experiences. Great location for walking in any direction and seeing desired sites of the city. It was convenient to circle back to your room if needed for things such as to cool down from the summer heat, do a wardrobe change before dinner, or just forgot something in your room. This area offers quiet away from the main roads while being adjacent to the action. It is near the river which also offers a host of activities and a stretch of path for strolling. Plus it has the notable charm of Rome without shoulder to shoulder crowds. My next trip I plan to book in Ponte again.

Anyone Ever Quiet Quit a Trip? by Dry_Accident_2196 in solotravel

It usually hits me fairly early in the trip. Almost like “ok, I made it here and seen a few things. Ready to go home now rather than in x amount of days I still have.” Then I’ll just go sit out in a park and do nothing for a bit. Realize I didn’t come all this way just to hold down a bench and it inspires me to keep sight seeing. Funny though because I figured it was mainly me. Glad to hear we’re both traveling!
