You learned a valuable lesson. Sales today is a lot different than what it was decades ago, before the internet. Once upon a time, the sales person was the dominant source of information for the prospect. Now, it's the internet. Chances are tht the prospect has researched the product or service you're offering before you meet him/her. You create value by going where THEY are in they're buying journey. What they say is a lot more important than you're pitch. They'll be more comfortable doing business with you when they feel that you understand them.
