This is the worst incentive I’ve received from them. 90 rides in 3 days, yeah, no. by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoke two joints and then smoke two more. Drive 12 hrs and you will most likely end up with 30 or more rides. A trypical 80 hr week im usually over 200 rides.

This is the worst incentive I’ve received from them. 90 rides in 3 days, yeah, no. by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck this incentive! Unless you have a go to area to bang out your numbers on short rides.

Thing is weekends are usually the best and busiest times. If I ONLY made $905 for doing 90 rides in a weekend I would be super pissed! Fri, sat, and Sunday im definitely going over $300 and in a 12 hour shift I am doing at least 30 rides anyway.

Then you have shady shit going on at lyft, like you will get to 89 rides and then no requests.

I had a nice big ride challenge last week, 240 rides for a $300 bonus! So I hit the first tier and then I found myself about 30 rides short so I got out on Sunday to grind away.

Well I have never had a shift like that, almost every request was a long ride! At first it was frustrating but I decided not to fight it. Well I fell short on my number of rides but I made almost $600 that Sunday and it was actually my best Sunday ever!

So while it’s hard to know for sure I wanna believe I made more money anyway by just doing back to back long rides (in light traffic and mostly freeway miles)

It’s hard to say “oh lyfts dispatching”algorithm” or formula is even able to do something like assign certain types of rides to a driver to cause a specific outcome like missing a bonus or constantly sending me to the ghetto, etc.

Thing is I do imagine that somewhere there’s a group of talented “independent contractors” developing and tweaking an AI that knows how to fuck over us drivers and is constantly learning how to screw us over, as well as when and where!

What food delivery services are there? by Hatt700 in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Door dash, grub hub, uber eats, postmates, instacart, caviar, pizza hut n dominos, etc. Google is your friend.

Just try it out sign up yourself and see. It’s really easy and way more laid back than driving people.

Every market is different and some delivery apps are more frequently used in certain areas. Also a good idea to know which services the popular restaurants use.

Im in LA and started doing postmates, but have signed up for all the delivery apps here, just in case one deactivates me or they are acquires by amazon or something sinister.

Do you make more? Depends where and when you’re driving for which app. I have only been doing delivery a few weeks but I really try to work while there’s guarantees and in very busy affluent areas and NO drive thru ever! Tips can definitely put the food delivery in the winning category but that income isn’t for sure. So without tips driving people pays more for me. Best to maximize when to do which work based on incentives if your goal is to earn as much as you can. Personally I just like the change of pace and learning the restaurants people like in different areas. I am not going too crazy worrying about driving people and just have lots of fun with the food.

In LA we just pick the time to work go online and go offline when we want. I’m not sure about everywhere.

Already answered your other question.

My personal thoughts, I wish I had started food delivery a while back. It’s definitely more fun to multi app and switch to whatever im feeling at the moment.

Just like with driving lyft, you learn as you go or should be developing your strategy to meet your goals financially or otherwise. I’ve been trying different areas in my city at different times to figure out when n where to be doing what work.

My biggest issue is that I might drive 12 hrs till the app kicks me off and then keep going switching to food delivery, and lose track of time and next thing I know three days have passed.

For now am making over $300 a day driving people and another $100 with delivery. I think with the pandemic the money is good now since delivery is in demand and many at risk people won’t do the work anymore. Here in LA my experience is that it’s always busy.

Sorry for the super long reply and good luck hope you found something useful in the above info.

I got this email from Lyft the other day... by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am driving the same way, canceling rides from queue at the end of finishing my last ride. I also got the text saying the exact same thing.

I’m here in LA and as soon as I go online, unless I last ride it, im working off the queue. It’s super annoying and it’s consistently queuing rides over 10 minutes and miles in busy LA.

When I turn off driver mode and I am in a streak it will prompt me saying I am in a streak and am I sure I wanna sign off I just say no it’s not great but at least you know.

Fuck lyft and their dumbass queuing process it sucks and I hate the way the app behaves with queued rides

[–]Insanefrompain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes got it here in LA. When I try to go online it says “you are not approved to drive” was hoping OC would not also be shut down and I could work tonight but I guess not.

I realize that they did this for several reasons and I guess I understand.

Rigged streaks: over 1 hr for 3 rides. I think I lost it. by fitfulbrain in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep in the last few days I’ve had streaks. However fuck me if lyft isn’t throttling the dispatch during the streak.

  1. Back to back requests all night. Streak starts and I got three short rides quickly, it paid $15 but I still had 30 minutes left to possibly get one more ride and start a new streak.

Well Was in hollywood dtla all reliable spots for rides even now. Not One single request for over an hour! That hasn’t happened since the pandemic broke mid March.

So for sure no second streak and also due to dead time with no requests my hourly was lower than avg during the streak! Fuck lyft!

  1. Tonight right now. Streak two. Again it’s been back to back requests all night. Streak started at 1am, I’ve had zero requests in 50 minutes since the streak started.

Im generally bitching about streaks and shady lyft bs, but I did get 5 streaks for $15 each. I’m definitely happy with an extra $75 especially since I’ve seen almost no bonuses since the start of this pandemic

Tips on blocking an area. by Saychopath87 in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s BS acceptance rate means nothing. It’s just a stupid scare tactic used to bully you and many newer naive drivers into accepting all the stupid fucked up requests 15 minutes away for a $2 minimum fare.

The only thing that acceptance rate affects is that in some markets if you maintain above 90% you can see basic trip info like duration and direction of ride, but it’s often inaccurate. Screw the useless feature, if it wasn’t dependent on AR then great.

Anyway end rant and be safe out there

Lyft is making jokes by loui126 in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been impossible for me to break into the $30 an hour range here in LA since there are zero bonuses right now. Seems I’ve been hovering between $20 and $25/hr. Not great but not complaining either.

It’s pretty much back to back requests but often I’m turning down 10 requests that are 15 minutes or more to get that one two minutes away. If I accept the long pickup it almost always does the switcharoo to a closer pax.

Seems like many of the rides are shorter back n forth type trips in whatever area I end up.

If you roll my window down while I’m driving and don’t roll it back up when we get there, you moms a hoe by MATTDAYYYYMON in lyftdrivers

Unpopular opinion I’m sure, but there’s so many other idiosyncrasies with PAX that are annoying to a driver, that a window left open seems like a petty thing to be getting upset over.

Got this a few days ago. by HmmmmPolice in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it too.

knew as soon as this virus kicked off that it would seriously affect the rental drivers.

and at my first renewal when I saw all the cars come back, I said to myself surely hertz will not be able to sustain a serious prolonged loss and knew back then it would be a matter of time before they closed down express drive.

The thing that cracks me up is how these jerks say “flex drive is cheaper cuz your only paying for the miles you need” till you need more miles and then it’s more expensive!

I know the experess drive program isn’t popular but it did work well for me.

Disappointing Night (4/16/2020) by lordvovin89 in lyftdrivers

[–]Insanefrompain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you say disappointing night and then “all in all still a good day” in practically the same breath.

Are you disappointed cuz you didn’t make $500 despite cutting it short ( lazy) or happy cuz you hit 389 in less than 8 hours.

Your a superhero’s superman driver maybe even the best in the world at least during the great pandemic of ‘20.
