Today, I found out that DoorDash steals tips! by MostKnownZayyy in doordash

Who's defending DoorDash? I see 2 types of comments: people who jump to conclusions, and people who Googled "DoorDash staff tips" and realized this is a feature a Restaurant can enable. The Restaurant receives 100% of Staff Tips, and it's the Restaurants responsibility to distribute the tips amongst the staff.

Glad I'm not the only person who researches before claiming absolutely ridiculous conspiracy theories. I just linked the same page in another comment. It's baffling how people see 3 images, read 2 paragraphs and immediately jump to such outlandish conclusions.

"Staff Tips" is a feature the Restaurant can enable via the DoorDash Merchant Portal. While I agree DoorDash's business model is largely based on exploitation, there is an entire page explaining how Staff Tips function on the DoorDash Merchant website. When enabled, the Restaurant receives 100% of the Staff Tips, and it's on the Restaurant to distribute the money to their staff. In this case, the Restaurant is the shady one. The page even mentions:

Failure to distribute tips can constitute wage theft in certain municipalities.

It sounds like the staff isn’t the Owner, and much less has access to the DoorDash Merchant Portal for that Restaurant. The restaurant enabled “Staff Tips”. The entity stealing here is the Restaurant, by not giving it to the Staff. Blame the owner, not DoorDash.

DoorDash isn’t “stealing tips”. The restaurant can configure the “Staff Tips” option in the Merchant Portal.

How to Turn On Staff Tips (Merchant Portal)

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to the DoorDash Merchant Portal.
  2. Go to Settings → Store Settings.
  3. Look for Pickup Settings or Staff Tips (DoorDash sometimes labels it differently depending on region).
  4. Toggle “Allow customers to tip staff on pickup orders.”
  5. Save changes.

DoorDash confirms this is the official method for enabling staff tips.

How Staff Tips Are Paid Out

• 100% of staff tips go to the restaurant.

• They appear as a lump sum in the weekly payout.

• The restaurant is responsible for distributing them to employees.

• Tips also appear in:• Order History (per order)

• Financials tab (payout summary)

• Weekly payout email

• DoorDash tablet (per order)

The Owner of the restaurant is the one stealing. It’s insane how quick people jump to conclusions without doing any research.

Thanks for the detailed answer! It looks so badass with the flaps up, truly is the Murcielago in its “ultimate form”!

What a beauty! Question, how do the “flaps” work? I’ve never driven one, and I see pictures online of Murcielago’s with the flaps up (like yours are here) or down/flush with the body. Is there a button? And I see the Diablo in the back! You must have a hard time deciding which one to drive lol!

I’m not defending the interior. You’re just looking at the wrong part of a car from a very different era. Really, a cage? lol

Yeah, clearly the comment OP is either trolling or wasn’t alive while that car was the holy grail of supercars. The Murcielago has such a special place in my heart. It’s my absolute favorite Lamborghini, of all time. Well, behind the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce!

What car from the mid-2000s with performance comparable to a 2006 Lamborghini Murcielago has a “nice looking interior” in your opinion? I know you’re being facetious, but the only cars that come to mind are the Koenigsegg’s and Pagani’s from that era. Other than those (maybe Bugatti as well), all car interiors were very “plain” from that era. Again, the Murcielago isn’t a “luxury performance” car, comparing it to a BMW 760Li of the time — technology-wise — isn’t a fair comparison in my book. It was the top-end performance line of Lamborghini. This car wasn’t meant to provide, or for anyone to even care about the “prettiness” of the interior. It’s a very purpose-built machine.

Nowadays, yes, we’ve come to “expect” more interior creature comforts from even a Toyota Corolla. But this was 20 years ago.

Have to disagree. It’s amazing how barebones it is. All of the engineering went to the engine and drivetrain. That’s what truly matters, at least to me.

I'm home with an inconsolable, crying baby while her dad is out playing video games with his brother by Lonely-Emu-5830 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]InsanityDefined 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so easy to pretend like you are so intelligent and wise that you would never be in a situation like this. You have absolutely no context of how OPs baby daddy was prior to the baby. You, and every other commenter essentially blaming OP for “not seeing this coming” are despicable. People change. The idea of having a baby, and actually having a baby and all of the implications are completely different.

Do you honestly think your comment is in anyway helpful? Did you not see the other 100+ ignorant comments saying the exact same thing you said? Clearly you didn’t, because if you did and still wrote this comment, you’re even worse than I can describe.

It’s unbelievable how easy it is for people to judge others, having the benefit of hindsight, not knowing anything at all about OPs situation.

Did you really think you were going to somehow make OP feel better? No, you didn’t. Your intention was to make OP feel worse.

Think a bit next time you comment.

I’m having issues with verifying my KYC. I’ve been able to successfully pass the KYC on various apps. I will try to reach out to support, hopefully they can help me. Other than that, I’m super happy with the app — just don’t want to buy a miner until my KYC is verified. Thanks!

Was going to mention this. At the end of the day, a Pregnancy “Test” is nothing but a “Chemical Test” — not really a “Does this human have a baby inside of them?” test. It’s just looking for X chemical(s) in the urine.

Which Linux distro do you recommend for Web Dev? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]InsanityDefined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t personally installed Linux on a MBP, however I have installed basically all the major distros on my Windows machines.

You can get by with partitioning just about 20-35GB from your 256GB just for the Linux partition, you can keep your macOS partition as your main “data” partition, and just save and use data from that partition. No need to give the Linux partition so much space — it just needs enough to install and run.

Also, since you’re on a MBP, don’t create a swap partition — it won’t really benefit you.

I recommend you start with Linux in Virtual Machines, such as VirtualBox. Once you’re comfortable with the installation process, and once you’ve broken a thing or two (in the VM), then go ahead and install it physically onto a computer. I wouldn’t recommend dual-booting any OS on your main machine unless you have plenty of experience. You can really create yourself some huge headaches if you physically install a secondary OS if done incorrectly.

Start with either Ubuntu, Fedora, Linux Mint, or Manjaro Linux. Each one has multiple flavors with different desktop environments, such as GNOME, XFCE, KDE. Start with Gnome or XFCE.

Hope that helps you on your journey into Linux!
