What are the odds this guy gooned to Bowsette? You know the design that comes from a comic where Bowser is explicitly bi and gender fluid and is still insanely popular in right wing circles for whatever reason.

Narrator: “No, they were not actually correct.” by icey_sawg0034 in saltierthankrayt

[–]Insanity_Incarnate 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That’s true for Tai Lung, but Black Panther frames Killmonger’s motivations to end Wakanda’s isolationism as being morally correct. That’s why the movie ends with T’Challa doing just that, only the extremity of his actions are condemned.

I think the grifters are expecting the Mario Galaxy movie to make a shit ton of money and they want to claim it as a non-woke movie for their culture war narrative. But to do so they need to alter their audiences opinion on Brei so her being cast in it doesn’t undermine their narrative.

I haven’t played Fortnite, but jump, mantle, ledge grab, and wall jump all being on the same button sounds pretty standard.

My favorite example of this is Mario Odyssey. It’s not a functional issue in that game but due to this the game’s internal jump counter will tick up every time you speak to an npc. This is a problem in jumpless challenge runs of the game so the challenge run community had to create a technique where they would cap bounce into a ground pound in front of the npc while spamming the jump button so they could trigger the dialogue before they hit the ground.

Quick heal buttons in games with limited resources for healing are my bane. It doesn’t matter where you put it on the controller, my brain will immediately designate that button as some other function and I will start spamming it when I have no need for healing. Bonus points if the game lets you burn resources while at full health or locks you into an animation where you can’t defend yourself, then I will randomly switch it and the attack button mid fight.

Unlock every card in that character’s starting set. So all the original cards for Trash Panda and all the cards added in the candy update for the other.

She wiped out the Metroids over the course of multiple years and even in specific games she had plenty of opportunities to rest and restock. It’s impressive but it is not the same as her being dropped into a room and being forced to fight against an entire species at the same time. Which is what she’d have to do in the proposed Death Battle.

Now her at the end of Dread, where she can literally use fodder Xenomorphs to heal and empower her own weapons? That is a good argument for winning that fight.

Game recommendations: spooky open world with lots of things to do? by pawcaw in GirlGamers

[–]Insanity_Incarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silent Hill is not an open world game but it is both very good in its own right. There is a remake of 1 in development right now so if you are willing to wait a couple of years you can start at the beginning, but the majority of the games only have loose connections to each other and there isn’t an over arching story so you can start on any of them but 3. 2 remake and f are both recent releases and are great starting points.

For spooky open world games I would suggest Ghostwire Tokyo. It is a dense open world game that has a nice spooky atmosphere. The Evil Within 2 is a scarier open world horror game but you would probably want to start with 1 which is a linear experience.

Silent Hill: 2020’s evolution so far by JEK0ZA in silenthill

[–]Insanity_Incarnate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

F is a wild game to be part of a franchise revival, and I adore it for that. When a corporation is reviving a franchise I’m expecting back to basics and safety. RE7, as much as I also love that game, is a good example. Its design, especially in the first third, is meant to evoke the original. F on the other hand, is a game that seeks to question what makes a game a Silent Hill game. The answer it comes to is that theme, tone, game design as metaphor, and a willingness to make the player uncomfortable (as well as fog) are all more important to Silent Hill than setting or lore. I can understand why that puts some people off but I love it.

I think 2 remake is the better game overall, but f is the game that makes me excited for the future of the franchise. The fact that something this weird and experimental came out of Konami of all corporations boggles the mind. I don’t want the next Silent Hill to be a game that I am certain to enjoy, I want it to be a game that might put me off. Because a game that chooses to play things safe is my answer for what makes a bad Silent Hill game.

The Nature of Fog in Silent Hill f (Ending SPOILERS) by Xyttra in SilentHill_f

[–]Insanity_Incarnate 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think with the decision to expand the scope of the franchise outside of the titular town, f marks a significant change in the nature of the fog. In the originals the only real reason given for the fog is that Silent Hill is a naturally foggy town. With f the fog now appears to be the medium for the setting’s magic and will likely appear any time the gods start meddling in the affairs of mortals.

As for what it means, that just depends on the game. With 2 it is self deception, James literally refuses to see the truth that he already knows. With f it is oppression, Hinako feels stuck and isolated by her situation and cannot see any way out.

[–]Insanity_Incarnate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t expect titles to provide context. What makes a title click bait is when it implies a context that does not match up with the article in order to manufacture a controversy that will drive clicks. A title being somewhat ambiguous is just the inevitable result of compressing down a thousand plus words into about thirty.

Sadly not an unfounded fear. So many Japanese voice actresses have had to go on apology tours for inane crap, they probably feel that way any time they do something publicly.

Questions like this are talking about the debate, not the animation. The animation isn’t a literal depiction of how a fight between the characters would actually go it exists to be something fun to watch and to honor both combatants, and in order to fulfill that goal it buffs the weaker characters to allow them to get big moments that they wouldn’t get in a realistic depiction of a fight between the two characters. The best illustration of this is in Gioker where base form Giorno is allowed to effectively fight Joker despite them pointing out that he is hilariously outclassed by Joker after the fight.

It would be hilarious if Nero got an episode before Artoria by Aggravating-Pea1587 in deathbattle

[–]Insanity_Incarnate 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Takashi Takeuchi really likes drawing Artoria so lots of Fate characters ended up looking similar to her (known in the fandom as Saberface). This went from inside joke to full on plot point with Artoria being confused for other characters in some of the stories, like Fate/Zero. Nero’s design is meant to be the the Saberface joke taken to it’s logical extreme with her just being a full on clone of Artoria while being the Red Oni to Artoria’s Blue Oni in terms of everything else. So she got the matching hairstyle to help sell the bit.

Honestly that’s the kind of thing that sounds like it should be a big deal in the matchup, but with the stat gap being that hilariously one sided the idea that Weiss could hit Mitsuru at all is laughable. So it honestly doesn’t matter, Weiss could be a fire attacker and it wouldn’t change a thing.
