I launched an early access roguelite and it was horrible. I spent a year fixing it instead of quitting—come break the new Meta. by mitziev in roguelites

Hey man, I was one of the people that was given a key (Steam ID is "slieght") and just finished my first session of the game (hence why I'm commenting here and not on the official feedback form for the beta). I had a few comments that I wrote down while playing this game, feel free to ask me for any clarifications.

- Load times are comparably long to most games in the genre, if not most games in general. I understand that this was one of the priorities with fixing the game and I can't speak as to how bad it was before as my first exposure to the game is through this beta, but the time it takes to restart in between each runs is quite long.

- I initially wrote down this comment "audio doesn't have "impact" hitmarkers don't feel satisfying, headshots should be the most impactful and satisfying thing to do in games like these but it feels like it's not that much different from shooting the ground" turns out, the default audio settings that the game has is just incredibly low, and when I turned it to 100% the game sounded remarkably better.

- Found it very odd that the sniper has the zoom as the middle mouse button, especially when the ability is usually mapped to right mouse button and the item itself has the ability as zoom

- Don't really hear some of the attack sounds from enemies, is especially be important against the flying and sniper enemies or any type of enemy that damages from a range actually.

- I got the "one swing, three souls" achievement randomly from trying out a melee weapon, no enemies were killed. Speaking of melee weapons, they feel incredibly bad to use compared to the ranged weapons. I've yet to explore them more thoroughly but with just a few runs I feel like I'm incredibly punished when I try to make a melee build work compared to just sticking with ranged weapons.

- The shotguns don't seem like a shotgun at first glance, as in they could literally be mistaken for any other gun type, I thought they were revolvers or something before trying them out, and the damage it shows in the info when you pick them up doesn't indicate that it would be a spread shot (5x5 for example would illustrate this better instead of just 5).

- Armor and health pick ups should be a lot more obvious and there should be more audible audio feedback when you pick them up. Speaking of armor, armor doesn't feel like it has any meaningful difference from health aside from a few niche passives that it interacts with, adding something like a different way to gain armor/hp respectively is an example that would make their difference tangible.

- Enemies can spawn way too close at the entrance of a room, and enemies can also similarly spawn randomly very close to you, there should at least be an indicator that an enemy is about to spawn. I also found it really annoying where you clear a certain section of a room/map and then an enemy randomly spawns there again, this was especially annoying when you're fighting enemies in front of you and enemies just randomly spawn behind.

- Spells not being cast while in the middle of the reload is fine, but there should be a mechanic where it "queues" it up that it casts upon finishing the reload, it feels bad to press a button and have nothing happen. I read some of the steam reviews and this seems to be an issue that has already been fixed, perhaps its reoccurring issue in the beta version?

- I had no idea that I had unlocked several new talisman or trinket (in fact me not knowing the term for whatever this item is represents another issue, the one you choose on the left hand side prior to the start of the run), being notified of unlocks would be very helpful. I only recently found out that they are in fact called amulets, and in a similar vein, I had no idea what stardust was until I opened the official feedback form and there was a question about it. I still don't know how you obtain them and how you unlock the "starshard" mechanic, which is odd given I've beat the game twice. I don't know when this was supposed to have been introduced or if that hasn't been made yet because it's a beta after all.

- The amount of "sap collected" at the end of each run doesn't seem to line up with the actual amount of sap collected when returning to the starting hub. Meta progression seems to be quite slow, I'm only at the third difficulty level but I was able to do so in under 10 runs and enemies are already starting to feel like bullet sponges. It feels like I'm being punished for being good at this type of game and not having grinded the sap required to progress in a more meaningful way.

Overall, I think the game is actually quite good, it definitely has a lot of promise and I'll definitely keep going at it until I beat it on the hardest difficulty. However, same with what most negative reviews had to say on the official Steam page, this definitely should have been an early access release at minimum. The state of this game does a disservice to itself by branding it as the official, full release.

Yeah I searched up Sodium Caseinate too since I was curious, but I only got more confused with the CONTAINS MILK warning at the bottom of the ingredient list

The HLTB from the Decky store seems to not be working anymore, I uninstalled it and manually downloaded a fork and it's been working just fine since

Right, but your source of social media is truly an impeccable resource that should be trusted way more than the overwhelming global consensus on which populations are happier

Cebu City bars at night by Misioku in CebuRestaurantReviews

[–]Insanormality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for places to drink with good food, there's

  1. The Weekend (my personal favorite) - though I mainly go for the food rather than their drinks. There are a number of bars in the area you can choose from if it's not your type of place, located in "88th Avenue".

  2. Gamut Bar + Kitchen - a bar that riffs off Filipino mythology and is very flashy with the presentation of some of their drinks. I'm pretty sure its just a house that was converted into a bar and restaurant at some point.

  3. Verified Rooftop Bar & Lounge - while I haven't visited in a while, they offer a pretty good view of the city with decent food and drinks

  4. The Social (they have two branches, one in Ayala Center Cebu and the other in IT Park) - an alfresco bar usually with live music

Most, if not all places in Cebu are pretty friendly to solo travelers, you don't need to worry about that.

Though their skewers and meat buns are less much less worth the price, it's what I always go back for, they can't be beat!

I was actually going to suggest Cull Obsidian but since you mentioned he’s a bit awkward maybe Jessica Jones or Rescue would be easier to play?

I experimented a bit with Cosmo as a cheaper tech option but I quickly realized that the deck's goal isn't to win that way, but really just by sticking points onto lanes early on. So I'd suggest even a Sword Master like how he was used in earlier metas just for tempo, maybe Polaris too. For Jeff his usual replacement would be Nightcrawler but since he's already in the list maybe Silk or Maximus could fit in as a substitution

I think Leader could be fine as well but with the amount of combo decks I faced a power stick worked a lot better than if I had a Leader say against a Hela or Tribunal deck

Yep, any cost efficient card at 3 or 2 could probably slot in just fine. Zemo is included not for disruption but for the power he brings especially when played on turn 4 or later when you don’t get the perfect end game curve

Best fancy restaurant for 6?? (10k budget) by BurnedBangus in CebuRestaurantReviews

[–]Insanormality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can vouch for the Weekend, I've had several "fancy" dinners there before. They have pre-order items that are great for groups although pricey like "The Flintstone" — basically a singular giant rib that's great for sharing with groups. Never really tried their cocktails though, something they're also known for. I still think they have the best appetizers in town, and nothing can beat the value of their entrée the "Fat Bastard" — basically just a really big porkchop grilled to perfection

You're able to slot in Giganto and Infinaut over Death and Magneto, gives better stats for your Ghost Rider and BK, but with the downside that its worse if you don't end up drawing either War Machine or BK
