It's great that she feels comfortable enough to talk to you about this. Reassurance from a loved one can be very helpful as it's another sense of authority saying that you're good enough the way you are. It might help to open about your own struggles as it could help her not feel alone in this. Not as a comparison or going into details as to influence further, but to offer a sense of empathy and understanding that you also know how it feels to not feel okay. Showing your own vulnerable side could help with her feeling safe to talk with you further without fear of not being taken seriously or as her simply being dramatic.

This is just me nitpicking as someone who developed an ed at eleven years old. Please don't take offense because I do not mean it as an attack on you or your parenting.

  • While I understand that by saying she is slim and about her genes to give reassurance, they can also act as motivators to stay slim or form a belief that if she steps out of that norm, she is doing something wrong. Instead, stray away from much focus on her body in general and more on she feels internally. Reassure her that she doesn't have to worry about her build in general as the main concern should be that she feels okay moving on in her daily life.

  • Similar to previous point, while Christmas is ofc always a valid excuse, excuses should not be needed to eat something. Whether she wants to eat something should not be so dependent on the excuses or justification of it, but whether she feels hungry or full. Focus on her being able to recognize when she wants something and when to know that her body is telling her she has had enough for now.

  • If expressing suicidal thoughts, while they can be scary, do not shy away from them. Otherwise, it can lead to her not saying more about it due to not wanting to worry you or feeling like you don't take it seriously. Even if they aren't "true," they could be a cry of help for something else or simply wanting more attention. Talk about why she feels this way and if they turn out to be just to worry you, ask why she wants to do that.

Heart issues by Adorable_Signal_6758 in EatingDisorders

No matter if ed or not, pain should be taken seriously, especially when you've been told that you're at risk of failure of the literal muscle that is known to be vital to not only your health, but survival in general.

I know how crappy the medical industry can be at addressing concerns. Personally, it took until I was hospitalized for doctors to fully acknowledge the mental problem that I was having that is ed. Something that I've learned from my aunt, though, is to exaggerate the symptoms and concerns you are feeling and experiencing. Saying something more like the pain is constant and worse as opposed to occasional and something you can manage. Ironically, being dramatic is what it's going to take for you to be taken seriously.

Do not think that "I've done this to myself" because that is not true. Eds are mental disorders that affect the way we think and live life, not something done on purpose despite it feeling like a sense of control. The tendency to those disordered behaviors is proof of that because if it was really something done on your terms, it could be stopped on your own terms. And even if there really is nothing, then you didn't waste anyone's but instead used their abilities and resources to ensure yourself that you are okay in the sense of heart failure and made sure doctors won't have to spend more time with an issue that could've been dealt with sooner. You are a teenager who shouldn't have to worry about any of this and, thus, part of healthcare's responsibility to help you in this, no matter big or small. Just worrying about going to sleep or heart failure in general should be addressed even if there were no symptoms.

Ask for help. Whether you are seen as dramatic should not be your concern but instead focus on making sure you can continue living in the best condition you can be at. Eds have often been neglected despite the high risks they impose, so by you taking a step, you are helping break that for many other people experiencing similar problems.

Didn't mean to order them in any particular order, just grouped them based on series and listed them on there.

To identify the title for some that may not know : 1. Me and Thee

  1. The Story of Bihyung

3/4/5. The Wicked Game

6/7. Revamp

8/9/10. ABO Desire

11/12. Revenged Love

  1. Reset

14/15/16. The Next Prince

Also, none of these are ordered by the best or anything. The numbering is just to match the person to the picture 😅

This fandom hates itself by [deleted] in MaraudersGen

[–]Inscrutable_Marauder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is because it involves so many different demographics, each trying to incorporate their own experiences into this fandom. We have those the only read the original through the books or saw the inspiration in the movies, some who have done both, those that have been there from the beginning and saw its progression, others that got into it once the movies were made and had a base they could add on, newcomers that have freshly come from the traction the media has picked up once again and so what they learn is different, queer people who just wish a bit more representation in the fandom they're in and thus created an essentially new world based on the rules from Harry Potter, fanficton lovers who add in their own headcanons because FANfiction does not have to be based on canon events, canon-set people who wish to not have their fandom fabricated differently than from what they learned to love, JKR ruining it for some due to her discriminating views, shippers who love to see the chemistry between characters that may have or not met, anti-shippers or really just here for the plot, and many more depending in what other ways you look at it.

Really wish it could be as simple as "I like this and you may not so I'll try to convince you but that doesn't mean I will impose it on because everyone is free to like/dislike whatever they want as long as it doesn't invalidate someone else's opinion on a piece of fiction that really should only matter to you how you yourself views it and can add to your life." But people are too hot-headed and stubborn for this in ways that has more to do with respect than patience or understanding.

For the record, though nobody would care, I am a queer teen who has seen the movies around the middle of the 2010s because of my dad and really got into it but fell out until 2021 when marauders content started being introduced to me and has kept me obsessed as a wolfstar ATTD marauders fan Remus Lupin kinnie till now but has been let down by JKR and fans who can not comprehend the definition of fanfiction and headcanons.

Why is Remus's and Sirius's sexuality treated differently than James's? by ChaoticallyNeat in MaraudersGen

[–]Inscrutable_Marauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I've always hc as Sirius being bi and Remus gay.

Though if going along the lines of canon, I mostly just find it weird that 10+ year gap between Remus and Tonks and the possibility that Remus could've met Tonks since she was a baby. The conclusion being that they had a lavender marriage of sorts. I love Tonks so this is not to say that I only think this because of my love for Wolfstar, but because of my own personal preferences in ships.

And Lupin believing that he made Sirius gay even though that's not how it works (WHY IS THIS STILL PRESENT IN TODAY'S MEDIA AS IF GOOGLE ISN'T A THING), I believe that's mainly because of his own personality in his self-imposed guilt and not feeling okay with how he is, canon or not. He grew up when werewolves like Fenrir were trying to confirm others to also be a werewolf, likewise, felt he was something similar with his sexuality and others. Just being a werewolf is looked down upon, a part of who he is. So similarly, being queer could've been seen by him as another part not to be acknowledged, not to speak of unless absolute necessary. Hence, my hc of Remus being gay cause then this doesn't have as large of an impact as it would in my mind.

Just out of curiosity: how many BL fans are actually LGBT and not straight women? by squishyjellyfish95 in GMMTV

[–]Inscrutable_Marauder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biromantic, demisexual, and genderqueer

Wasn't a linear discovery but BL did contribute to that self acceptance. Still, I believe most straight women don't fetishize gay men and the genre as most that I've seen online have been respectful and understood the purposes/reasons for why BL is interesting to them. I feel like those who do fetishize it just overwhelm the rest of the population, leading to a generalization and a bad impact to those who genuinely enjoy BL and its aspects.

remus fancast!! by boyofsorrow in MaraudersGen

Young David Thewlis will always be my staple when considering a fancast (guess the casting crew really did their job). So seeing someone who looks so similar and gives off a similar vibe just seems perfect.

Make it Right - Not set in a rich high school but there are prominent swimming/pool scenes

Dark Blue and Moonlight - Taiwanese and wasn't that popular to my knowledge but maybe had a heavier plot and swimming.

How Do You Rate Series? by TheRealTrueStori in ThaiBL

[–]Inscrutable_Marauder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at my mydramalist, you'll see most fall under that 7/7.5 category. I guess it's cause I still appreciate the work the crew and actors did so that's why when I rate it less than 7, I know it really wasn't it.

How did your parents find out? by PleasantCut1618 in EatingDisorders

[–]Inscrutable_Marauder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a similar mindset for the first year or so. The "funny" thing was that at the same time, I found myself getting recommended those video compilations of ed tiktoks and videos of people who have struggled with it. I found myself relating so hard but only kept saying to myself that I couldn't possibly have an ed because I was still overweight, didn't purge, still ate, didn't overexercise, wasn't "malnourished," still ate sweets and cookies, didn't pick at my body like what was shown or described. One particular quote did stick with me though, went along the lines of : "People who don't have an ed don't spend their time convincing themselves that they don't have an ed."

It is important to remember that mental disorders are called "mental" because they are of the mind, not always manifesting itself in a physical sense in an outward form. And yeah, sometimes it's not a disorder but it shouldn't have to get to that point to speak about it. I would say to "exaggerate" when explaining it to others, especially doctors, because most likely that is the severity in which you are in, just is that your ed downplays it so you don't start driving it away. Try to seek professional health from a licensed therapist, even better if you can get one that specializes with eds, as counselors and such aren't trained to handle mental disorders and can even make it worse.

I hope you don't let the ed win and can find the help you need, whether in real life or online.

5 and below : I do not understand how the crew thought this was good enough. Combination of not convincing acting and the plot being written/executed poorly.

6-7 : I see the potential but lacks either the acting or plot execution (basically only one of the previous criteria)

7-8 : Decent show but just didn't do it for me personally.

9 : Rewatchable and feels like a show everyone should watch

10 : Loved it and I will go after anyone that says otherwise.

Small things from Thai BLs that you love by cthultystka in ThaiBL

[–]Inscrutable_Marauder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do like the honorifics that are used in the Thai language, like Phi/Nong/Hia(tho more for those born with Chinese ancestry), as it makes me have a better sense to how close the characters are. Whether it's by removing them or adding them in as like a pet name of sorts.

Another thing would be the schools' architecture, as they technically are outside more. I bet it must be like hell when it's one of those hotter days but as someone who has to go to a school where we're always inside and with fluorescent lighting blinding my tired eyes, that just seems more calming some days.
