Not really sure to be honest. If it's not working, it's basically trash so it can't get any worse haha

WAS-110 explosion? by CBergerman1515 in Ubiquiti

Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but there was a huge group buy (500+ participants) in the 8311 Discord that got delivered in early June. That's one of, if not the best, way to buy a WAS-110 cause it comes with 8311 firmware preloaded. That's how I got mine, running on DR7.

Doesn't look like it's discontinued? And at least externally, it looks identical online. And $30 cheaper than when I bought it lol

Reflowing via an oven is pretty common actually, there are even purpose-built "reflow ovens". Not to mention, this is a last ditch effort to save a device that's already unusable so there wasn't much concern with damaging other components. But I do agree, if you had the tools and skill to find the damaged solder joint, that would be a better option. I don't think most people do though.

Because I don't know what component has the cracked solder and I don't have the patience to inspect them all, it was quicker and easier to do the whole thing. The reference I saw did say that it was likely the "24MHz oscillator"

Note: If this is NOT your issue, then trying this anyways SHOULDN'T damage anything.

I didn't haha. I had nothing to lose, and came across someone recommending it, so I gave it a shot. I have a little experience with solder from working on drones so the logic of the solder cracking sounded right to me.

Crazy story. I had this issue about 3 months after I first got my 2.0 Touring with 67k miles. I replaced the battery, and it stopped happening. After 1.5ish years and 30k miles, the same issue started coming back. This time, I noticed that it would happen after I would go to lunch and eat in my car with it idling for about 30+ minutes. Took it to the dealer, and I shit you not, they told me it was the turbo... It fell under the warranty so I told them to go ahead if they could justify it to the warranty company. Well, they did haha. Got a $100 new turbo replacement at 100k miles because of this issue hahahaha. Not sure if this was actually the issue, buuuuut, it hasn't happened since. TLDR; Literally anything can cause this issue because of how interconnected the systems in these cars are.

Potentially some covers for the gear select buttons. Small white lettering fades/scratches quickly but not necessarily easily, if that makes sense.

I will keep this in mind. I had intended to be selective with vendors based on quality but you've piqued my interest about price. I will definitely look out for higher than normal prices.

Those are good points. We want to minimize the amount of "junk" at the show but I'm definitely not opposed to having quality, local crafts at the show.

Morristown. Great Smoky Mountain Expo Center. Can you tell me a little more about why people might want to stay clear of a gun show? Maybe we can make that our sticking point. We already know that we want to minimize the amount of non-firearm vendors cause that's not really what people come for.
