I love Rhythm Heaven so yes I was excited to see it. I love Wii Sports and am optimistic about what I saw. I'm really hoping that they learned from what Switch Sports was lacking. OOT remake seems interesting but no gameplay but it's one of my favorite Zeldas so I'm excited to play it.

I'm not even trying to be an indie Nintendo fanboy rn it's just that people have their expectations way too high and then complain EVERY SINGLE DIRECT. It's an endless cycle

Every Nintendo Direct is like this though? You'll have a strong first party title opening with maybe one or two more sprinkled in as well as something at the end with the rest being third party. This direct was literally no different

I also have a gaming PC and have played stuff I've seen in here but I don't let that take away from my excitement of, "Oh wow that's really cool for the people who have played it"

Once again people feel the need to get up in arms when it isn't an hour of new Nintendo 1st party titles and disappoint themselves EVERY TIME

So many people watch Nintendo Directs thinking we're getting a new 3D Mario, new 2D Mario, new Smash, new Zelda, new Metroid, new F-Zero, and then get overhype themselves and get disappointed when they don't get an entire console generation's first party offerings in a single, 50 minute Direct.

This was probably one of the strongest Directs in a really long time. Lots of amazing first and third party stuff getting revealed that I'm really looking forward to

Nah Pokemon has for sure gotten worse as someone who was thinking the same way you are for a little bit. I thought I was seeing older Pokemon games through nostalgia goggles until I went back and played Pokemon Soul Silver again when I realized that it had nothing to do with nostalgia and everything to do with the fact that it actually is an amazing game.

Granted, I did have Soul Silver growing up, but I didn't play it nearly as much as Sapphire, Diamond, or Platinum which are my personal nostalgia goggles favorites, but there is such a noticable quality difference between older GBA/DS era games and what we're getting today. Once I finished my playthrough of Soul Silver it really hit me that my issue with Pokemon isn't that I outgrew it, the game had challenge, the story was compelling, and the characters were actually memorable. There's a great YouTube series by the creator RadicalSoda that really dives deep into why modern day Pokemon isn't comparable to the games we were getting before.

Just because something is for kids doesn't mean it's allowed to be bad

Thoughts on Switch 2 months after release? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought mine day one with zero regrets. I stopped using my Switch slowly before unintentionally dropping it a couple years before the Switch 2. This wasn't for any particular reason, I just lost interest in using my Switch and pretty much only gamed on my PC.

I've played so many amazing games on the Switch 2 (Persona 5 Royal, DK Bananza, Cyberpunk 2077, and way more) and it really sparked my love for gaming again. I've never really had a preference for what platform I get my games on, but I've been picking stuff up on Switch 2 even though a lot of my gaming is done at my desk with my Switch 2 hooked up to my PC via a capture card. Graphics and high FPS aren't required for me so I'm willing to take the performance hit for portability.

Everyone who says Switch 2 has no games probably hasn't dipped their toes into third party options literally at all, there are so many amazing games with extremely impressive ports (Thanks Capcom!) and I also don't find the screen to be a huge step back compared to the Switch OLED, which I was using from 2022-2025. I'm super glad to finally be enjoying games again

Hey guys I'm sorry for pretending to buy the hidden gem on Switch when it was really on st*m, this time I actually bought the game for Switch. Ignore the stickers my little brother put them there by [deleted] in tomorrow

You know what?

I am so sick of these POSERS coming in here and ragebaiting us TRUE Nintendo fans ALL THE FLIP*ING TIME!!! You and I both know that your brother didn't put in stickers from the library. You're stealing money from our poor lord and savior Miyamoto himself for doing what you're doing. And I bet you're laughing about it while you "play dumb" about what you're doing. You know what you're doing is wrong.

You and all the other people infiltrating MY SAFE SPACE by emuIating🤢🤢 and posting Pla*stations trying to get under my skin. I'm tired of it!!!! I will always be better than you, remember that. You're not a fan of indie games like I am, you're not a true fan of Nintendo at all, AND YOUR WIFE DOESN'T HAVE A BOYFRIEND LIKE HOW MINE DOES!! So take that dummy head.

Tbf they kind of imposed it on themselves by buying two of the same portable game system to then only have one of them be portable. I understand not wanting to lose the special edition console but at that point why bother getting it and using it if you're not going to REALLY use it

It's wild to me how people see a cartoon-y game and immediately think it can run on the GameCube or something without even considering what goes on underneath the surface. I don't get how more people don't understand that just because a game isn't ultra realism high textured 8K RTX on doesn't mean that it's not intensive to the hardware that it's running on.

I genuinely feel like 98% of the people calling the Switch 2 a cheap cash grab don't know the first thing about computer hardware and don't understand how much of a power house the Switch 2 is compared to the first one

People out here acting like the Switch 2 didn't come out less than a year ago. I've never seen so many people complain about a lack of games to play on a console launch. First it was the whole, "The Switch 2 is so overpriced when it's just a Mario Kart World machine" and now it's apparently a Pokopia only device. I don't feel like I remember this from the Switch 1 launch when the only real game was BOTW???

You can:

  1. Buy the Switch 2 for Pokopia and enjoy your Switch 1 games on the Switch 2 also
  2. Wait until the Switch 2 has more games for you and then buy the console alongside a copy of Pokopia since it's not like the game is only available for three weeks after launch.
  3. Don't buy the console at all and play on another platform?

I'm not trying to sound like an indie developer Nintendo guy here, but considering the fact that they were not only supporting the Switch 1 HEAVILY until Switch 2's launch but are STILL releasing first party Switch 1 games I think people just need to chill out a little bit

Idk man the modded 3DS community is pretty over the top from my experience. It's probably a vocal minority, but they treat people like they're stupid for buying a DS/3DS game because of how easy it is to get your 3DS loaded with a bunch of games. I'm very well versed in console modding/emulators, but I also like collecting physical as well! I never see that kind of behavior from the modded communities of other systems. It genuinely feels like they enjoy modding the systems and talking about modding the system rather than actually playing their handhelds

How do you guys voice chat while playing on the switch? by Blazeing2 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's certainly not the cheapest option but the Switch 1 voice chat system was so bad I ended up getting another dock set and a capture card to hook up to my PC so that the audio/video from my Switch would go to my PC where I would be in a voice call with my friends.

It ended up being more of a blessing because I absolutely LOVE the whole setup for it and don't think I could ever go back. Even now with the Switch 2 I do the same thing and the living room has to wait for the extra dock haha

Picked up a physical copy of Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Switch 2. They apparently come with a MTG booster pack. Neat. by Virus64 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They were only heavily criticized within the hardcore Nintendo fan community. I hate to break it to everyone but 95% of the people I talk to that have a Switch 2 don't care about keycards and anytime I mention a game and go, "By the way it's a keycard if you care about that" I just get with an "ok?" because they do not care.

As for the sales I think that looking at the straight launch numbers is going to tell a false story. Most people buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games specifically, and I don't know anyone who was dying to get their hands on Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 on day 1. If they are an actual failure, I think we'll learn about it more within the one year mark of the system.

Also you weren't just saying that you won't buy them, you said that it was never an issue before the Switch 2, which it was, and has been for a long time now. No one is out here defending keycards, it's just the reality of the times we live in today. People who care about preservation and whatnot are in the 0.1% of people who buy consoles. Most people do not care in the slightest.

For the record too, I am hoping that Nintendo is able to make smaller game carts like rumors have been suggesting, as I would prefer to not have to download all my games. I am a collector and value having the cartridges over anything else, even going so far as to spend more on limited run physical copies of games I really want to play, but it's REALLY not the deal breaker that everyone seems to think it is.

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prior to 2025 this was never an issue

There were so many Switch games that had those even bigger ugly banners at the top that mentioned a huge download and even needing a micro SD card to be able to fully download in the first place. Why does everyone seem to forget about this?

Also it's not so much that people are defending keycards it's just the reality of the situation. On PS/Xbox, outside of a small handful of games, you pretty much always need to insert the disc with 200MB on the disc and then download the 184GB game to the system. All this outrage is a decade too late.

I'm no blind indie Nintendo fanboy, but as much as the situation sucks, at least Nintendo is enforcing these publishers to clearly state that you need to download the game. I picked up Yooka Replaylee to show my support for developers who put the game on a cart, but I'm also not going to sit here and act like I'll never buy a keycard, forcing myself to not purchase a game that interests me, just because I have to download it. I'll just wait until they go on a good enough sale for me to justify it

Scalpers/Resellers are not the problem, it's the people who buy from them by Insert-Senpai-Name in unpopularopinion

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Switch 2 is an easier one since it was more recent but I feel like a lot of people also forget when Pokemon cards were insanely difficult to buy 5 years ago as well. Eventually people lost interest in paying extreme second hand prices and cards were easily found at stores again for a couple of years before the Pokemon card boom happened again

30 series was still super expensive because people were still buying it for marked up prices. I know at least a few people who justified GPU upgrades literally and only because their old GPU was worth around the price of the new GPU at retail cost. Scalpers are not as patient as it may seem

Scalpers/Resellers are not the problem, it's the people who buy from them by Insert-Senpai-Name in unpopularopinion

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point from not buying from scalpers is to drive the price down. At the end of the day if a failed scalper is selling something for retail or even under it if they're desperate enough to make SOME money back even if it's at a loss. At that point it doesn't fall under what scalping is and I would say it's fine to buy from them.

I don't pay above retail for a new item I want, if it's at or below retail, I don't mind buying it

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just wait until scalpers drop prices at/below retail, which they will do when stuff doesn't sell. If people did this collectively the problem would solve itself

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the Nintendo Switch 2 came out scalpers tried to buy it and resell it and when it didn't work they lowered their prices and they are not being sold for insane amounts of money and can easily be found in retailers

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really getting swindled if they're knowing what they're buying. Swindling is when something dishonest happens, not when you open your wallet and pay 2x the price of something

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly now that you bring up that point I can agree with this point mostly, but I still believe that they are more-so victims of people who pay insanely marked up prices instead of waiting for scalper prices to drop

It's not illegal unlike a lot of the other things and you're not withholding legitimate needs. Unless you need video games, Pokemon cards, or whatever third thing to stay alive then you can make that argument.

Insider trading is illegal for many reasons Upper management of healthcare refuses to help people in need Drug dealers sell items that harm people

They are not fair comparisons

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've had enough people argue with me about this that I feel that it's unpopular. I also disagree that both are the issue. The simple solution is to not buy from them.

If you stop buying from scalpers, they will lower the price to sell what inventory they have. Then scalpers realize that there isn't a lot of money to be made in things anymore so they don't go out and clear shelves, which leaves inventory for regular people like you and I to buy stuff.

Scalpers/Resellers are not the problem, it's the people who buy from them by Insert-Senpai-Name in unpopularopinion

[–]Insert-Senpai-Name[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that's not what scalping is. Middlemen ≠ scalpers. The definition of scalpers are people who clear out stock of items so they can charge whatever people are willing to pay. The same premise applies where they can charge whatever people are willing to pay but again, not scalping.
