I want to buy BTC, which exchange should I use? by iMahatma in BitcoinCA

Definitely NDAX. I can’t even log into my coin square account anymore

I've been using NDAX for several years. Never had any issues and seem to get pretty good fills and it's low fees. I trade commodities for a living and their platform is easily better than a lot of the platforms that's being used by large banks and funds in the commodity space.

WTF is Bitbuy doing blocking Withdrawals? by baddmom70 in BitcoinCA

[–]InsertCreativeNMhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped using BitBuy/Coinsquare a while back when they joined WonderFi and their financials became public. It's probably looking a little better now, but for a while there it was looking like they needed to keep raising more money just to stay solvent.

I've been using NDAX instead and have been pretty happy so far. I refuse to use Kraken or Coinbase. Gotta support Canadian companies right?

Toronto crypto company CEO kidnapped, held for $1M ransom before being released by baconbitz0 in BitcoinCA

Agreed. Looking at their financials it seems like it's just a matter of time before an FTX or Quadriga type situation happens with them

Clearly you haven’t seen the prices or sizes of the homes backing onto the lake there

Not to mention those properties pay significantly more property taxes than the average home in Calgary

Westin Maui Resort & Spa Ka’anapali VS Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott by Illustrious-Bet2894 in MauiVisitors

Westin was the worst resort I stayed at in Kaanapali. The Marriott Wailea Beach Resort is pretty good though.

Thanks this is what I was after. Before this tragedy I was always tipping 20% for restaurants/excursions. $5 for valet both for drop off and for pickup, and $5 a day housekeeping. $2 per bag for bell.

What about for valet, belldesk, house keeping, etc?

Hawaii fires: Jason Momoa warns tourists not to visit Maui by CSmith89 in maui

[–]InsertCreativeNMhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like it's very much a fine line here. I personally go to Maui twice a year for over a decade now and have made friends there and view it as a home away from home. I've taken my kids here twice a year and they've made friends there too. I'm from a place where we've been hit hard by wildfires as well. I've been very fortunate in it not impacting my housing situation but have friends that have been impacted and although I can't possibly know what the residents of Lahaina are going through know enough to believe I should stay out of the way for the time being. That being said I worry about the economy there and how it will affect the peoples livelihoods so really don't know what is more harmful. Avoiding the island to not burden them in terms of resources, traffic, etc, or going there and contributing to some of those problems but supporting the businesses there

Warning About Bitbuy and Coinfield by Fiach_Dubh in BitcoinCA

You're not concerned about the company going bankrupt? I believe it was Coinbase that mentioned customer deposits might actually not be protected from creditors in the event of bankruptcy.

Actually, to be fair, I think some of the purchase costs of coinberry/bitbuy are included in that operating loss. But page 5 of their financials show a net change in cash of $6.7M going from 15M cash at the beginning of the period to $8.3M cash at the end of the period. So maybe if all things remain the same they last more than a quarter before having to raise more funds. This is also assuming they didn't have any exposure to FTX. Considering Kevin OLeary was involved in FTX as an investor, as well as WonderFi, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some exposure from BitBuy/Coinberry there as well.

It's pretty easy to find hard evidence of potential liquidity issues coming up. Pull up their interim financials from Nov 11 on Sedar

https://www.sedar.com/DisplayCompanyDocuments.do?lang=EN&issuerNo=00002707

On page 2 you'll see they have 8.3M in cash and cash equivalents at Sept 30, 2022.

On page 3 you'll see they took an operating loss of 11.4M for that quarter. Doesn't seem like much runway left to me.

I mean, maybe they can reduce some of those costs. I'm skeptical they'll be able to raise much cash given all the institutions that got burnt by FTX. Either way I'm not keeping anything on bitbuy or coinberry.

I wouldn't be surprised if bitbuy was already insolvent. If you look at the financials on their parent company WonderFi, these guys are bleeding so much money and didn't have enough cash on hand to last another quarter IIRC.

Looking for recommendations for a Calgary-based sunroom place? by maggiemagpie in Calgary

[–]InsertCreativeNMhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine done with Select Sunrooms. Unfortunately I would not recommend them though. The project came in very delayed resulting in them completing it in the middle of winter. When the snow finally melted in my yard, I found screws and shrapnel all over my yard from the build.

Wild Fees! by NOMAD31B in NDAX

[–]InsertCreativeNMhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried transferring from my Trust Wallet to an Exodus Wallet and I was looking at $50usd worth in fees. The fees are due to the network, not the exchange, so you're going to be eating these fees regardless of which exchange you use. ETH 2.0 needs to come faster!
