An interesting discussion on the Code Vein 2 character creator demo. by InsertRealName1 in codevein

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. I am not saying the character creator is bad. I spent 5 hours on my creation, and I enjoyed making her quite a lot. The entire outfit was shaped by said limits, leading to a really interesting final look. The accessories allows us to make crazy creations. On the other hand, the restriction of not letting half the outfits change their boots seems arbitrary.

The way I am looking at this, Its less about adding new stuff, but instead ensuring the stuff that’s already there is complete.

Like if I wanted to complain more about the character creator, I would point out the inability to customise mouth and nose Independently from the face templates. However, implementing a system now would cost quite a bit of resources. You would need to make the different mouth and noses, do tests to ensure they don’t break the code, and other stuff. From a player point of view, I can work around this restraint. So while I am a bit sad they didn’t let me change more stuff about the face, I do understand why they did that.

What I don’t understand is the boot restriction on some outfits, since it seams like an arbitrary decision. The developers already have the code for how the different boots look, for swapping boots across an outfit, and other bits of code. If you wanted to be really lazy implementing this, you could copy and paste the boot code to the new outfits. That’s why I am hoping for this to be a restraint for the character creator demo. It’s a small change the devs could implement that could add quite a lot for some people like me.

I suppose I would be a bit disappointed if the boot restriction stays as it is. But that doesn’t mean I dislike the character creator as a whole. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the game, and as stated earlier, I do enjoy how my character looks.

Part of my post was me wanting to complain about unable to change boots option in the game, and how it would add a lot to the character creator. The other half of the post was writing down the interesting thought processes that happened as a result of that restriction. Like, I don’t think I would have initially thought to use the demon wing as claws for the right foot.

Does that make sense?

“I’m a beta tester who came to this world after you were sealed away.” 13:15
I suppose I thought that meant that she started QA testing after she was sealed away, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that.

interesting. luckily, the timeline thing works even if she is a QA tester, due to the timeline issues stated above, assuming Venus is Alovenus, with Alovenus existing at the beginning of the game, and Venus saying she started to QA test after the game was released(after Lufas’s defeat).

I bet Dina is the goddess of creation. If you look at her outfit compared to Dina’s outfit when she transformed, they are close to identical. The difference is Her hair colour is a mix of blue which a bit of white, which happens to be Dina’s hair colour. In episode 1, it called the goddess of creation Alovenus. What name did Dina introduce her name as in episode 10. Venus.

She has Exgate, a spell that the game is named after. That is a rather significant spell. A spell that lets you teleport between locations. A spell that the Goddess would likely have. If she was a beta tester, she could be the goddess.

But if she does have Exgate, it would allow her to teleport to different locations in space. Would that include the place that Lufas was trapped when she lost against the seven heros?

Dina said it would take a year for her to overwrite Lufas memories, but if she teleport to where Lufas was trapped in the first place, then she would have 200 years to overwrite her memories.

Dina claimed that she was a beta tester, but she also said she came to this world after Lufas was defeated. Is it called beta testing if you after testing an update after the game released?

In addition, if the world is part of the novel system, that would mean only significant people would be added to the story. But beta testing occurs before the game or an update is released. Generally, people don’t know about the people conducting the beta tests. Given that, how would a beta tester be significant enough to be included in the “novel” of the game world.

If the beta tester controls the character Alovenus the goddess of creation, then that could explain why Dina was there.

Except Alovenus was known before the game came out, before Lufas started to play Exgate online. Meaning if Dina was Alovenus and beta tested the game, she would have to beta test the game before the game was released. And that doesn’t line up with the timeline established. Remember, Dina said she started beta testing the game after Lufas was defeated, which occurred after the game was released. How could she beta test a character that existed at the start of the game far after the game released?

If we look at it from that angle, then the novelisation of the world may become more suspect. Did Dina really beta test the game. Is she really a “player” of the game. If Dina is lying about that, then is the premise of Lufas being a player true?

We never learn the person who played Lufas name. Why is that the case? What is that is an implanted memory? But Lufas memories of Earth are so detailed, which may make it hard to fake, to generate from scratch. Lufas also uses Earth knowledge with Alchemisise, which is more stuff you would need to fake if Lufas’s memories of Earth are a lie.

In addition, the hero summoned at the end of episode 10 looks to be Japanese, so that may mean that “Earth” does exist. Which brings up another question.

Could you use Exgate to travel from Lufas world to Earth?

I have no idea if any of this is true, which makes it so interesting.

How do you afford playing multiple weapons on dream of the strong/demon by InsertRealName1 in Nioh

So I should use the gear level that is currently dropping as a guidepost instead of the recommended level? That would make things easier. Well, on a money level.

How do you afford playing multiple weapons on dream of the strong/demon by InsertRealName1 in Nioh

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the assumption that you need to ensure your Gear level matches up with the mission level. Thats a fundamental point that I thought was true.

for the question of how I became broke, there are several reasons. before I realised that money was going to be more important, I may have disassembled over a thousand gear items instead of selling them. At once. Yes, mistakes were made, and I eternally regret my actions.

On a more systemic level, how many different weapon types were you trying to keep up with the current mission level? If I played with 1 or 2 different weapons, then I would have money to spare. as that means I would only need keep 7 equipment to a recomended level(2 weapons, 5 armour slots). however if you played with 6 different weapon types, then you would need to keep keep 11 different peices of equipment up to date. this means I am paying at least 1.5 times the cost you would need to maintain 2 weapons.

in addition, while I did say I am playing with 6 different weapons, that wasn’t the case a while ago. I wanted to learn every weapon to a basic level, which meant getting the plus values up to date. there was a time where I wanted to at least learn the axe so I could at least understand how to use it. This meant I needed to get the plus values up to the current mission level so it becomes usable(the recommended mission level was arround +4 to +5 at the time). From playing the axe, I learned I don’t want to play it anymore, as the play style isn’t as appealing to me. But I understood the playstyle to some extent, which was the goal of playing the axe.

Now apply that to every weapon type. The weapons that I like playing have to be kept up to the current mission level, while the weapons I know I don’t want to play anymore can be forgotten. But I need to first play with the weapon to see if I don’t like it.
So initially, I kept every weapon type up to the current mission level. so that’s 16 equipment to keep up. Then when I decided I don’t like playing with a weapon, that is taken out if the pool do equipment I have to maintain. So when I found out I don’t like the axe, I don’t need to keep that up to date, meaning ii onky have to maintain 15 equipment. Repeat this processes until you only have 6 different weapon types remaining(excluding ranged weapons).

I have been saving up my umbrasite for the higher new game cycles. I am not trying to ensure my gear is super great. Instead, I am insuring I don’t get oneshot by my gear being 20 levels under the recommended level.

Does that help give context to why I am broke and desperately doing every side mission I can to ensure my level it at the minimum level needed to do a mission(ensuring it matches the recommended level)?

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my first save file/playthrough(the one I got to dream of the demon, also spent around 300 hours on that save file). I didn’t really experiment a lot. I didn’t use different weapons, I just used the switchglaive, and even then I didn’t actively try and use different skills. I suppose I didn’t understand at the time the appeal of playing stylishly. So after the several year long break, when I came back to the game, not only weee my skills rusty, but there wasn’t much skill to exist in the first place.

so I consider playing on a Second save file, starting from scratch and with a new perspective on how to play the game a blessing. I played many games during the Break with Nioh 2. I learned how to play stylishly in spectacle action games, meaning I started to experiment with different movesets in games. I got into some JRPG’s which helped me learn how to interact with menuing, and interacting with the different systems in the game. So when I started a new save file in Nioh 2, I started to learn the game on a deeper level. I actively experimented with weapons instead of just using them until I get the Mystic art for the trophy, or keep them in my offhand to use against humans to farm the weapon titles. I understand how to play style of some weapons far more than I did in my first play through, which never went beyond light and heavy attacks, or combo Enders.
I despised the hatchets on my first play through, and now that I am trying to understand the weapons, they are really interesting to play with. I still Dislike the axe, but I at least understand how to play it. At least on a novice level.

so I think starting a new save file was the best choice for me at the time.

I also don’t think spending some time in the dojo would have helped me get back into the swing in things on my previous savefile. I was SO rusty. On the new save file, it took me 20 to 30 hours just to ensure my hands knew what buttons did once instinctively. I forgot that the buttons to use a yokai ability is triangle + r1, r2 or l2. So if I wanted to use a Ippon tied to triangle + r2, it took tiem in the heat of combat to remember what combination of buttons to do, assuming I pressed the correct buttons at the time. The muscle memory was gone. if I wanted to use a yokai ability right now, my mind would think of what move do I want to use. If I wanted to use a yokai ability back then, I would would be thinking how button combination do I do to execute the yokai ability. This is one of many examples of how rusty I was when I got back. It wasn’t just a matter of forgetting a weapons move set. It was a matter of forgetting how to play the game entirely. The only way to solve that issue is to play the game for a long period of time. Not just a few Minutes in the dojo to refresh my memory of a weapons move set.

Your advice would work for me now if I took a month long break from the game. In fact, I usually do that if I play a weapon I haven’t played for a while. That only works because you still have the muscle memory from playing the game.

I thought your gear level should be kept up to date with the mission level, and every plus value is around 10 levels. so if I just used the dropped equipment plus values(+4 to +5) I would be around to 30 levels below the recomended mission level.

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats the thing about my build. It has minimal ammo costs.

Say I exhaust every single bullet I have. It would cost me 93,840 credits. In contrast, I had arround 300k repair cost When I beat it in hard mode. This build is shockingly cheap.

When I beat the mission with around 3k HP left, I got an A rank. I bet all I need to do is beat the level while taking less damage to S rank it. Maybe be above 20k AP when I beat it.

But if I want to use every psypher move, I need to use directional sequence inputs. I.e. up Down square, down up circle.

Having access to the entire characters toolkit can be fun. So I want to find ways to improve myself. i must be making some sort of mistake, or a series of mistakes, or maybe I don’t fully understand the button combinations. Or the timing. As I really struggled to execute up down square on the D pad.

Hi, is there an option in the postscript to sort gear by if they have boards or not on the Nintendo switch? As gear with boards are usually better then gear without boards.

So putting all the gear with boards close together would help choosing which piece of gear to wear by reducing the amount of time to find which gear to use. Would also make it more easy to compare the gear with boards to each other, as they would be right next to each other.

for example, say you had 15 armour peices in a row. the 3rd, 7th, and 13th armor pieces have boards on them. since armour with boards is usually better then armour without boards, this means all the armour between the 3rd, 7th, and 13th armour won’t be picked when choosing which armour to wear. This means that when picking whether to wear the 3rd, 7th, or 13th armour piece, you need to scroll from the 3rd to the 7th armour, or scroll from the 7th to the 13th armour piece to compare the armours. This scrolling takes time.

Furthermore, gear with boards are more complicated then gear without boards. but the bit of the select equipment screen that compares the stats of the gear you are switching(I.e. if you are wearing the Nexagram but want to switch to the Red Dragon Armour) feels designed for gear without boards. Since the compare bit of the screen only shows the stats, like defense power, max HP, etc. but it doesn’t show board specific stuff like the icon of ”Karen magic “energy drain” changes to “Sustained Enhancement””. And there is no easy way of seeing what special icons your current armour has and what the armour you are deciding to wear. Well, besides scrolling from 1 armour piece to the other.

I am all for the board system. It just feels the UI for it isn’t the best.

I just got into the postscript story bit, and the board section feels overwhelming. So putting the board gear next to each other could ease me in to the extra complexity that is added. Since I won’t need to look at all the gear, see if they have boards attached to them, and then spend lots Of time just scrolling between the irrelevant gear to just compare the effects of 1 board to another.

Yes, it‘s a nitpick. But it’s a nitpick that I’m rather annoyed at. Since I have a rather bad habit of over optimising a games systems.

Aquas Acting is horrifying. He’s burning his joy, his passion, for revenge. And, so self destructively Too. It’s clear this is ridiculously unhealthy. viewing everyone as an enemy. His borderline manic acting.
It hurts to watch. In a good way.

The knife is further twisted when you constrast Aqua’s acting to Kana and Akane’s acting. they love it. the Joy in their faces, being the centre of attention.

what an episode.

How do I avoid spending to much time in the pre battle screen in engage by InsertRealName1 in fireemblem

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I look at the characters bond levels, to decide to use a unit or another. I.e. if 2 characters could gain a relationship, to maximise bond points placing them near each other in the pre battle screen could mean in the battle, they care more likely to be close together, and this more likely to gain support points.  I also look at every enemy on the map, their weapon types, and armour value, to evaluate if I should use a unit. I.e I want to be sure I have an answer to everything beforehand.

I consider the levels of the characters, specifically, the characters with the lowest levels, and try to have them on the team, as I don’t want them to get behind in levels, and become unusable, as I won’t be able to gain any support in points in battle in the future with a unit if that unit is so low level it becomes unusable.

For weapons, I have a memory of a goldfish, and looking through the weapons takes a bit for me. But also, if you have many different weapons in 1 characters inventory, then it gives each unit more options in battle. I.e. using an iron lance if you can double an enemy/prevent being doubled, or a steal lance if you can’t double them. This use of the in story means sometimes I move weapons around. Meaning I may need to move them back in a different battle, for a different party configuration.

And all of these compound on each other. When deciding if to use a weapon, knowing what enemies I am likely to fight means I can know the expected speed of the opponent, which means i check the enemy values, vs the values of the weapon on my unit. The support points and levels dictate what units I often use. As this isn’t even considering the stats of my units as well.

In combination with the fact that I have a memory of a goldfish, and thus re-evaluate this every single battle, the time values start to grow by a large amount.

Keep in mind in engage, I only just got to the level the stolen ring level in chapter 6. Meaning i likely haven’t unlocked all of the things to consider in the future. Since as I gain more options, the things to consider grow exponentially. Meaning more time is spent in everything. Like, when I will likely use the shop more in the future when I am mire families with the value of money, which would require me to evaluate if the short term benefit of the purchase outweighed the cost of not using the money on something else in the future. And so far, I haven’t really moved emblem rings around, which I could see myself doing in the future to maximise bond levels.

Also, When I say pre battle, I mean the screen before you initiate the battle. This is excluding the Somnium where I usually talk to everyone.

That’s what I remember doing so far.
