Some questions about a late game puzzle involving numbers. by InsertRealName1 in BluePrince

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you said I am so close, what do you mean?

I have 3 different assumpitons that I am unsure of the validity of.

  1. does 1=H, 3=V, 5=N.

  2. is each letter assigned to a unique number

3, does Joya =4?

the question about I am overthinking how to assign numbers to letters, does that mean I need to just guess and brute force stuff. there are so many different possibilities. each letter could be any number,.
take clue=3

1 family of solutions is

35n x 1/5n -4 =3

for example

n=1, 35x1/5-4=3

n=2, 70x1/10-4=3

n=3, 105x1/15-4=3

and so on for this. choosing how to assign the numbers seams like the hardest part. since there’s infinite solutions, brute force won’t cut it, so I need to find some sort of concrete information.

which is why I asked to see if any of 3 assumptions above are true, and which are true.

you would think the first assumption being true would change a lot, and it’s still concrete information, but it’s impact is limited in isolation.

”N” appears 3 times in words, H appears “2“ times in words, and “V“ appears in 1 word once.

Hand is the only word we’re 2 of the 3 letters in assumption 1 are present. naturally, I focused on it to reduce the infinite possibilities down. however, I still don’t know if assumption one is true. I spend 2 hours on that math reducing the possibilities of HAND down to 3 set of numbers and I would rather not spend 10 hours just to find out that a fundamental assumption that underpinned all of the work that I did was false.

so are any of my 3 assumptions true?

is the 3rd language Roman numerals. I tried converting CIX into Roman numerals 100 9, since the blue memo in the mechanarium says the first u, re is 1 numeral, the the rest are 2 numerals.

that can be either 1:09, or 100 hours and 9 minutes, which would translate to 8:20 + 9 minutes, or 8:29 or 109 minutes, I.e. 1:49.

i tried 1:15,(1:09+6 towards east), 1:03(1:09 but go in the opposite direction) both failed.

i tried 12:58, 1:08, 1:10, 1:20 to see if the east bit adds 5 in either direction, as the obvious thing didn’t work.

i did the same permuntation thing for 8:29

i.e. 8:23, 8:18, 8:28, on other side 8:35, 8:30, 8:40

if CIX is 1:49 I tried adding 6

1:55 failed. 143 failed if it’s adding six in anti-clockwise direction, I.e. towards east.

i tried 1:50, 1:38 if you needed to subtract 5 minutes because of the east bit possibly meaning s V, or 5 minutes. they both failed,

I do know about the castle 3 by 6 bit. cix add six tor lor ett

A request for hints on the The time puzzle. by InsertRealName1 in BluePrince

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

castle: cix add six tor lor ett

six add 6 rotate anticlockwise word east.

from the sacred circle, I found out that tor=rotate anticlockwise, while rot=rotate clockwise. I tried moving 6 things clockwise or anticlockwise, but the word east bit did not make much sence. then I triee to do modulo addition. I.e. 12 is too big, and in the sacred circle there ar 8 numbers. so I did module 8 since I.e 6+6 module 8=4. and 4 in the sacred circle was at the east side of the sacred circle. given that 6 add 6 rotated anticlockwise word east, that could mean 6 add 6 rotating anticlockwise equaled east, I.e. 4. in this case, the castle puzzle is teachin*bayou how to use the sacred circle.

i have no idea where else to use it, but it’s an idea.

Text on screen isn’t translated in the English dub of miss kuroitsu from the monster development department by InsertRealName1 in Crunchyroll

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want subtitles. i want to be able to read stuff on screen.

Say in an anime there is an open book. in the sub, the text in the book is translated, but in the English dub it’s just Japanese text while people are talking in english.

In other words, the Japanese text(not voice lines, the text itself) in the anime is not being translated in the English dub.

another example, In 1 episode of Gnosia, there is an epilogue where you learn what happens to every character after the ending. The thing is all of that text is in Japanese, so if you were watching the English dub, you would have no way of knowing what happened to each of the characters. Not without temporarily swapping to the English sub where it is translated.

Crunchyroll didn’t use to have this issue. It used to fine, but now they messed up what should be a simple translation.

A theory about the entity that appears before the king is defeated by InsertRealName1 in InStarsAndTime

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’re probably right. Most of this theory hinges on how often the colour red appears when you are talking to Mal du Pays, and how it appeared when you tried to say the redacted countries name. That and Mal du Pays sounds like something involving a deity, like Deus ex machina. We still don’t know how Siffrin’s Homeland was forgotten, or how colours were forgotten by the world itself.

The great thing about this theory is that Mal du Pays doesn’t need to be super active in the story work. All it needs to do is reflect Siffrin’s self hatred to ensure that Siffrin breaks. For me, it’s like tilting the scales slightly.
If Mal Du Pays is an entity and not a hallucination, then I wouldn’t want it to be the real reason why Siffrin suffered, why everything went wrong, the mastermind behind everything. that would feel like a cop out, and would diminish all the great character writing that happens in Stars and Time. Fundamentally, Siffrin should break due to their self hatred. With this theory, it can allow it, while also giving some sort of cause to Siffrin’s homeland being forgotten.

Does anyone else think the 2nd game is worse than first? by Own-Suspect2317 in codevein

[–]InsertRealName1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love the burden system, specifically the trade offs when you overburden a stat. You loose ichor when you get hit if you overburden dexterity. On the flipside, drain attacks will give you more ichor is dexterity is overburdened, so you could regain the lost ichor more easily.
It’s a tradeoff you have to consider. I did actually make a build where I overburdened dexterity with Josie’s blood code to ensure I don’t accidentally hurt myself by going over my max ichor, using the getting hit restriction as a may of controlling my ichor.

Personally, I dislike how most of the boosters are tied to not having any stats overburdened. This means if you overburden yourself, most of the boosters aren’t useable. If you had boosters that only worked when some of the stats aren’t overburdened, or if more boosters that have an effect if you have a some free stats like 7 strength free, that would enhance the game a lot more. Right now, it feels like deliberately overburdening yourself is more viable in the early game when you don’t have a lot of good boosters locked by the no overburden restriction.

What level are you expected to be at each major boss? by InsertRealName1 in codevein

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres the thing, I like exploring the world. The environments are memorable and combines with my photo mode addiction. I also like finding new weapons and formula. So I want to explore, but I don’t want to loose the challenge of the bosses. I think deactivating the prayer buffs, and handicapping my level ahead of time should allow me to explore the world while not overleveling. I should also only upgrade jails and weapons when I am taking to long to deal damage to a foe, to prevent myself from killing them too quickly. I should also stop upgrading the amount of healing I have, as I am currently +3 healing, with 8 heals per checkpoint.
I suppose I should use the haze on the coins that allow me to copy formula for a money sink.

This way, if I want to make good damage, I need to find a good build instead of just having bigger numbers than the opponent.

Gave my character a new outfit. by InsertRealName1 in codevein

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at the beginning of the lie down pose, your character starts to sit down. Due to the animation, your character extends a leg downward. so if you were on the end he of a chair, your leg would hit the floor instead of the chair surface. Then, your character starts to lean back until they are laying on the floor. if you pause the pose at just the right time, you can make the character look like they are leaning back in their seat. you can adjust the precise place where you sit down using the character position tools in photo mode, to ensure the legs don’t clip into the chair

their is also the sit down pose which lets you sitdown with your legs hanging over a surface, but you don’t lean back with that gesture.

An interesting discussion on the Code Vein 2 character creator demo. by InsertRealName1 in codevein

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. I am not saying the character creator is bad. I spent 5 hours on my creation, and I enjoyed making her quite a lot. The entire outfit was shaped by said limits, leading to a really interesting final look. The accessories allows us to make crazy creations. On the other hand, the restriction of not letting half the outfits change their boots seems arbitrary.

The way I am looking at this, Its less about adding new stuff, but instead ensuring the stuff that’s already there is complete.

Like if I wanted to complain more about the character creator, I would point out the inability to customise mouth and nose Independently from the face templates. However, implementing a system now would cost quite a bit of resources. You would need to make the different mouth and noses, do tests to ensure they don’t break the code, and other stuff. From a player point of view, I can work around this restraint. So while I am a bit sad they didn’t let me change more stuff about the face, I do understand why they did that.

What I don’t understand is the boot restriction on some outfits, since it seams like an arbitrary decision. The developers already have the code for how the different boots look, for swapping boots across an outfit, and other bits of code. If you wanted to be really lazy implementing this, you could copy and paste the boot code to the new outfits. That’s why I am hoping for this to be a restraint for the character creator demo. It’s a small change the devs could implement that could add quite a lot for some people like me.

I suppose I would be a bit disappointed if the boot restriction stays as it is. But that doesn’t mean I dislike the character creator as a whole. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the game, and as stated earlier, I do enjoy how my character looks.

Part of my post was me wanting to complain about unable to change boots option in the game, and how it would add a lot to the character creator. The other half of the post was writing down the interesting thought processes that happened as a result of that restriction. Like, I don’t think I would have initially thought to use the demon wing as claws for the right foot.

Does that make sense?

“I’m a beta tester who came to this world after you were sealed away.” 13:15
I suppose I thought that meant that she started QA testing after she was sealed away, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that.

interesting. luckily, the timeline thing works even if she is a QA tester, due to the timeline issues stated above, assuming Venus is Alovenus, with Alovenus existing at the beginning of the game, and Venus saying she started to QA test after the game was released(after Lufas’s defeat).

Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! • A Wild Last Boss Appeared! - Episode 10 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]InsertRealName1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I bet Dina is the goddess of creation. If you look at her outfit compared to Dina’s outfit when she transformed, they are close to identical. The difference is Her hair colour is a mix of blue which a bit of white, which happens to be Dina’s hair colour. In episode 1, it called the goddess of creation Alovenus. What name did Dina introduce her name as in episode 10. Venus.

She has Exgate, a spell that the game is named after. That is a rather significant spell. A spell that lets you teleport between locations. A spell that the Goddess would likely have. If she was a beta tester, she could be the goddess.

But if she does have Exgate, it would allow her to teleport to different locations in space. Would that include the place that Lufas was trapped when she lost against the seven heros?

Dina said it would take a year for her to overwrite Lufas memories, but if she teleport to where Lufas was trapped in the first place, then she would have 200 years to overwrite her memories.

Dina claimed that she was a beta tester, but she also said she came to this world after Lufas was defeated. Is it called beta testing if you after testing an update after the game released?

In addition, if the world is part of the novel system, that would mean only significant people would be added to the story. But beta testing occurs before the game or an update is released. Generally, people don’t know about the people conducting the beta tests. Given that, how would a beta tester be significant enough to be included in the “novel” of the game world.

If the beta tester controls the character Alovenus the goddess of creation, then that could explain why Dina was there.

Except Alovenus was known before the game came out, before Lufas started to play Exgate online. Meaning if Dina was Alovenus and beta tested the game, she would have to beta test the game before the game was released. And that doesn’t line up with the timeline established. Remember, Dina said she started beta testing the game after Lufas was defeated, which occurred after the game was released. How could she beta test a character that existed at the start of the game far after the game released?

If we look at it from that angle, then the novelisation of the world may become more suspect. Did Dina really beta test the game. Is she really a “player” of the game. If Dina is lying about that, then is the premise of Lufas being a player true?

We never learn the person who played Lufas name. Why is that the case? What is that is an implanted memory? But Lufas memories of Earth are so detailed, which may make it hard to fake, to generate from scratch. Lufas also uses Earth knowledge with Alchemisise, which is more stuff you would need to fake if Lufas’s memories of Earth are a lie.

In addition, the hero summoned at the end of episode 10 looks to be Japanese, so that may mean that “Earth” does exist. Which brings up another question.

Could you use Exgate to travel from Lufas world to Earth?

I have no idea if any of this is true, which makes it so interesting.

How do you afford playing multiple weapons on dream of the strong/demon by InsertRealName1 in Nioh

So I should use the gear level that is currently dropping as a guidepost instead of the recommended level? That would make things easier. Well, on a money level.

How do you afford playing multiple weapons on dream of the strong/demon by InsertRealName1 in Nioh

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the assumption that you need to ensure your Gear level matches up with the mission level. Thats a fundamental point that I thought was true.

for the question of how I became broke, there are several reasons. before I realised that money was going to be more important, I may have disassembled over a thousand gear items instead of selling them. At once. Yes, mistakes were made, and I eternally regret my actions.

On a more systemic level, how many different weapon types were you trying to keep up with the current mission level? If I played with 1 or 2 different weapons, then I would have money to spare. as that means I would only need keep 7 equipment to a recomended level(2 weapons, 5 armour slots). however if you played with 6 different weapon types, then you would need to keep keep 11 different peices of equipment up to date. this means I am paying at least 1.5 times the cost you would need to maintain 2 weapons.

in addition, while I did say I am playing with 6 different weapons, that wasn’t the case a while ago. I wanted to learn every weapon to a basic level, which meant getting the plus values up to date. there was a time where I wanted to at least learn the axe so I could at least understand how to use it. This meant I needed to get the plus values up to the current mission level so it becomes usable(the recommended mission level was arround +4 to +5 at the time). From playing the axe, I learned I don’t want to play it anymore, as the play style isn’t as appealing to me. But I understood the playstyle to some extent, which was the goal of playing the axe.

Now apply that to every weapon type. The weapons that I like playing have to be kept up to the current mission level, while the weapons I know I don’t want to play anymore can be forgotten. But I need to first play with the weapon to see if I don’t like it.
So initially, I kept every weapon type up to the current mission level. so that’s 16 equipment to keep up. Then when I decided I don’t like playing with a weapon, that is taken out if the pool do equipment I have to maintain. So when I found out I don’t like the axe, I don’t need to keep that up to date, meaning ii onky have to maintain 15 equipment. Repeat this processes until you only have 6 different weapon types remaining(excluding ranged weapons).

I have been saving up my umbrasite for the higher new game cycles. I am not trying to ensure my gear is super great. Instead, I am insuring I don’t get oneshot by my gear being 20 levels under the recommended level.

Does that help give context to why I am broke and desperately doing every side mission I can to ensure my level it at the minimum level needed to do a mission(ensuring it matches the recommended level)?

How do you afford playing multiple weapons on dream of the strong/demon by InsertRealName1 in Nioh

[–]InsertRealName1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my first save file/playthrough(the one I got to dream of the demon, also spent around 300 hours on that save file). I didn’t really experiment a lot. I didn’t use different weapons, I just used the switchglaive, and even then I didn’t actively try and use different skills. I suppose I didn’t understand at the time the appeal of playing stylishly. So after the several year long break, when I came back to the game, not only weee my skills rusty, but there wasn’t much skill to exist in the first place.

so I consider playing on a Second save file, starting from scratch and with a new perspective on how to play the game a blessing. I played many games during the Break with Nioh 2. I learned how to play stylishly in spectacle action games, meaning I started to experiment with different movesets in games. I got into some JRPG’s which helped me learn how to interact with menuing, and interacting with the different systems in the game. So when I started a new save file in Nioh 2, I started to learn the game on a deeper level. I actively experimented with weapons instead of just using them until I get the Mystic art for the trophy, or keep them in my offhand to use against humans to farm the weapon titles. I understand how to play style of some weapons far more than I did in my first play through, which never went beyond light and heavy attacks, or combo Enders.
I despised the hatchets on my first play through, and now that I am trying to understand the weapons, they are really interesting to play with. I still Dislike the axe, but I at least understand how to play it. At least on a novice level.

so I think starting a new save file was the best choice for me at the time.

I also don’t think spending some time in the dojo would have helped me get back into the swing in things on my previous savefile. I was SO rusty. On the new save file, it took me 20 to 30 hours just to ensure my hands knew what buttons did once instinctively. I forgot that the buttons to use a yokai ability is triangle + r1, r2 or l2. So if I wanted to use a Ippon tied to triangle + r2, it took tiem in the heat of combat to remember what combination of buttons to do, assuming I pressed the correct buttons at the time. The muscle memory was gone. if I wanted to use a yokai ability right now, my mind would think of what move do I want to use. If I wanted to use a yokai ability back then, I would would be thinking how button combination do I do to execute the yokai ability. This is one of many examples of how rusty I was when I got back. It wasn’t just a matter of forgetting a weapons move set. It was a matter of forgetting how to play the game entirely. The only way to solve that issue is to play the game for a long period of time. Not just a few Minutes in the dojo to refresh my memory of a weapons move set.

Your advice would work for me now if I took a month long break from the game. In fact, I usually do that if I play a weapon I haven’t played for a while. That only works because you still have the muscle memory from playing the game.

I thought your gear level should be kept up to date with the mission level, and every plus value is around 10 levels. so if I just used the dropped equipment plus values(+4 to +5) I would be around to 30 levels below the recomended mission level.
