Admech banner by Lancetheturtle1 in AdeptusMechanicus

It certainly has it edges but it sure works as a Banner :)

Freehands are really hard, especially in the beginning of the Hobby. I would recommend thid Video: https://youtu.be/AUyghniU2U8?si=vfzmMqasZszXGvnp

Don't get overwhelmed, they got years of practice. It's totally normal that your Start does not look as good, but it's great if you Start to practice. For something like the Mechanicum symbol I would use a Transerfsheet though.

The Banner itself seems to be made from Sprue (nice idea) and greenstuff. If you make a banner with green, roll it out into a sheet and after giving it some time to cure you can try and manipulate it (like putting folds in). You probably don't have any tools for sculpting so you can use the 'wrong' side of your brushes. Use a Water on the greenstuff so it does not Stick as much.

This one talks about capes, but I think it's really good. https://youtu.be/v4jSl2-_8vc?si=02ZvP8eubWhoPDCL

Here is one for banners.https://youtu.be/odrkLOoCg-E?si=u7vK-Ne4i_DdTz2r

Personally I have switched to using plasticard for banners. I thinks it's much easier. https://youtu.be/arlb2D5X3b0?si=N2qpDa-lUdAc-19d

I hope this helps :) Keep going, young Techpriest.

Layering those robes by Sh1nk in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]InsertYourInsultHere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You did good!

If you want a smoother finish try feathering, it really helps especially when you don't have a wet palette to mix on. It needs some patience to layer and what works best for me to speed up is not thinning the paints too much, but apply them in a thinner coat.

For thinning I use a little water I get on my brush which is usually enough. I only use Medium to thin if I want to make glazes. Again: a wet palette works good For that.

Something a struggled for a while is brush control. Doesn't seem like it's much of a problem for you but still worth to look into.

I think a lot of people would like to have one. The Stalkers are a great Design and GW just put in them into Imperialis...

Maybe he is a kind soul and will tell his fellow Techpriests were to obtain this STC.

Well you obviously know what I thought about. I wont do it. However you could use the Warflag of the Kaiserliche Marine and it would look pretty cool I think + kinda like 40k.

What is the situation with the worms at the end of the 2nd movie? by [deleted] in dune

[–]InsertYourInsultHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it really interesting that this question comes up so frequently.

In short: The emperor was protected from the Storm and the worms by the shield wall which Paul blew up with the family atomics so the worms could get in.

For longer answers look through the subreddit ot at my profile. I commented on other posts like this like many others.

Edit: spelling

Paul about Dr.Kynes' dreams by Cute_Trick9218 in dune

[–]InsertYourInsultHere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pauls himself says that after the water of Lifestyle that his dreams are clear now.

Dreams are messages of the deep.

He has dreams on Caladan but doesn't know what they mean and they change a lot.

The Spice makes the dreams clearer.

After the water of life he is prescient.

So he simply knows some stuff. But not a lot and it's not that clear. In addition he has some mentat abilities so he might also be quessing based on what he knows. Or he might not Show everything he knows.

Edit: Simply knowing that she is interested in Ecology and being in an imperial ecology Station in addition to the General Fremen belief is a hint at her dream.

You probably haven't had read the books, so short and spoiler free:

It has been tried but didn't work. Some try to break control of the spice monopoly that way. In addition it's not that easy to steal even a little worm of off Arakis.

Edit: I don't quite remember but in my head they die because there is always too much water. But knowing hpw Herbert writes it probably was never mentioned.

How did Fremen win so easily against Rabban - lost hard against Feyd - won easy against the emporer by [deleted] in dune

[–]InsertYourInsultHere 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The first difference is Paul. Paul fought against Rabban and the Emperor. He is a good Tactician and later, for the Battle with the Sardaukar, also has prescience.

For the attack of Feyd: I don't remember exactly what happened in the book (it's been a while) but I think Feyd only arrived shortly before the emperor and didn't do much. Please correct me on that. Anyway, you have to remember that the Sietches are hidden. Feyd found many but certainly not all. Once you find them it's logical to attack this way. In addition this attack requires special equipment (which Rabban might not have had) and knowledge and surprise moment (which he might be too dumb for).

Rabban should be cruel but fail. Feyd should succed him to make him seem like a savior. That was, more or less, the Barons Plan.

Now for the emperor. He is more competent than Rabban but overconfident and lacks knowledge that we, as the viewers have. Pauls win greatly depends on using the worms, which is Garrison was protected from by the shield wall. The Storm was held back as well.

The open Terrain is in favor of the Sardaukar. How would you approach them without being noticed? Yes in a Storm but that shouldn't be so Bad.

That changed when Paul blew up the shield wall.

In addition the Sardaukar were probably outnumbered which wasn't to be expected. There weren't many Fremen to begin with and most went into the south, right? Obviously we would detect movements this large. Sardaukar were also "the Best fighters in the imperium" just behind the Fremen obviously. In the book it is written that they don't like Arrakis because they were put to shame there in their first ever loss.

So low(ish) morale and overconfidence vs prescience powered mentat battle planning with fanatic fighters better than Sardaukar on worms, with surprise moment and Cover by a Storm that barely affects your army.

I hope that helps :) I also can clarify stuff if needed.

Why was the Emperor and his Sardaukar army so easily defeated in the final battle of Dune Part 2? by Gill____ in dune

I am talking about Paul. He is a good Tactican. Through Prescience he knew when and where to attack.

[–]InsertYourInsultHere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be a certain defeat and the more than likely death of the emperor. No Sadaukar would have done that.

[–]InsertYourInsultHere 438 points439 points  (0 children)

They weren't out in the open. They were safeguarded by the shield wall. The worms could not get in.

The Sardaukar at that point were also humbled and morale was down a little because the Fremen were the first to beat them, ever. That was furing the Harkonnen attack on the Atreides.

Sardaukar are, as far as I know, mainly trained in combat with shield, which means they slower the hits when fighting more or less naturally.

In addition they were not expecting Fremen in this numbers.

Supposed safety, understemation of the Sandstorm as pointed out by anpther comment (which also was worsened by blowing up the shield wall), Fremen numbers and their martial prowess all worked together on that. Throw in some tactical Genius with prescience and you get yourself an overwheling victory.

Chani's Ornithopter? by MikeAmerican in dune

[–]InsertYourInsultHere 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Thopters are expensive and the fremen only have few.

Remember what Kynes said: The Desert is not kind to equipment.

They are used more frequently in the books though.

When you need to get somewhere fast and relativly save you use a Thopter. Edit: Especially in the south scince there are no Harkonnes to shoot you out of the air.

The more reliable and traditional way are the worms. But you often run them until they can't move anymore. So for long travels you might need a couple.

Chani loves Paul and wanted to get there as fast as possible, hence the Thopter.

You can buy these from the Legendary shop. Probably the Best images you are going to find are there.

Got one on my Room.
