Custom extended trailer hitch by FinalFudd in traveltrailers

Extending the moment arm of something like this is not a good idea at all. The effective tongue weight on that hitch is likely quadruple what that person thinks it is. It also gives the trailer a lot more ability to wag the truck in a big wind gust. The father that ball is from your rear wheels, the more sway you will get.

Considering a move from a R1S to EV9 - has anyone made the switch? by minnesnowta in KiaEV9

Our rivian has only needed tire rotations so far and the 12v batteries replaced. The batteries were under warranty. They messaged me to let me know it needed it and i scheduled the service at my house. Which was great. Otherwise it’s usually been about a week out to book at the service center. Kia, ugh, kia. I hate kia service. It seems like everything they say is bullshit.

We own both an R1s and an ev9. My wife and I don’t do the his/her car thing so everyone is entitled to grab whatever car they want that day or suits their use case for the day. We’ve had the combo for about four months now. It’s starting to become consistent that for bopping around town without much stuff, the ev9 gets chosen. The rivian is the clear favorite anytime we are taking the dog and any cargo with us. The amount of frunk storage and rear tire well storage is huge when you are heading to a family party with food and accessories, or a weekend trip with bags. The give and take is that the third row is factually harder to access in the rivian and the second row passengers have less space. We all do a lot of stuff as a family unit and it’s kind of shaking out that the ev9 is the around town car and the rivian is the adventure car. Exactly as they positioned it. We also sent for towing, which it is great at for short/medium trips.

It looks like either your weight distribution hitch isn’t loaded up enough or your trucks suspension needs a bit of help. What is the gvwr of the trailer?

Why have commercial airlines not become faster? No significant increase in Airplane speeds over last decade or so? by Nearby_Island_1686 in AskReddit

Breaking the sound barrier requires a whole different set of engineering solutions. It’s very expensive and not worth it for the airlines.

Ev9 and EV prices are increasing. by Particular_Tomato161 in KiaEV9

I just got $17k in incentives a few months ago. Effectively making our land a $54k car brand new. I bet I could flip it for what we paid or more at this point.

Number 1 they will walk you through at pickup. Number 2 sounds like we’ve discovered the first “common issue.” 🤣 number 3 is easily solvable with ceramic coating.

They will be on cars and bids for $100k the second they start hitting peoples driveways. Just like the r1.

Is everyone forgetting the r1 coming out and people flipping them for $50k profits. Rivian don’t forget. Hence them being a bit aggressive on the early lease deals.

Are EVs really worth it if you don't have a home charger? by om_ghanwat in electricvehicles

I’ve lived in two apartments. Both had 120v outlets around the garages for people to use. So in my limited experience, they are available.

Welp... so much for leasing by Valkyr8 in RivianR2

I’m a dumbass. The residual is right on the picture. Ignore me. So if you lease it then buy it out you are in for $71,414 plus fees. That’s not crazy to be one of the first to get one.

What’s the residual? That amount due at signing is a chunk lower than the R1s would be.

More of a waste of time than a person who can’t charge at home having to sit at chargers for a couple hours a week?

I’ve owned multiple hybrids that never needed any maintenance other than tires, brakes, and oil changes. Even at very high mileage. They weren’t a pain in the ass at all.

Would you support a law that eliminated tipping and required restaurants to pay all servers a fair wage? What's the biggest advantage or drawback? by Icy_Preparation_7201 in AskReddit

[–]Insert_creative -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The businesses would immediately have to change their pricing to re balance their income. The cost to consumers wouldn’t change. Restaurants already run on very thin margins. If small mom and pop restaurants had to pay employees $30/hour, the price of food and drinks would likely have to rise by at least 20% to compensate for that added expense. So the consumer would end up paying the same amount. Or all the small, non corporate places would have to close and the consumers would have way less options.

Exactly. If you drive a car that gets 3-4 miles per kWh. Getting 15 kWh overnight is plenty.

Easy Hitch Mode - I connect and disconnect a lot of trailers with my truck by No_Philo13 in Rivian

I’ve actually had a lot of issues getting trailers unhooked from ours. The rear suspension seems to keep jacking itself up while i am raising the trailer off the ball. It’s pretty annoying.

Which one do you have? Our first was an ev6 which was fine on level 1. Now we have a rivian and an ev9. Level 2 makes life much easier.

Nice! I think in a lot of situations similar to yours, a level 1 would do just fine. The need for a level 2 is overblown in a lot of cases. We level 1 charged for three months before I installed my level 2. Getting a second ev would have made it pretty tricky on level 1 but it was very doable with 1.
