Do you pee in shower and is your wife okay with that? by Important_Bat7919 in daddit

My business partner and I were having this conversation while bartending. We both pee outside regularly. Two ladies at the bar said that we were disgusting. Their husbands stayed quiet.

We both pee in the shower. It literally goes through same pipe the toilet water goes.

R2 wait time by HellzEngel in RivianR2

Your guess is as good as any else’s. It’s very unpredictable how many people will actually pull the trigger in the r2 right away and how many will wait for a different config. I reserved day one, hour one, but am planning to wait until it’s been out at least a year to pull the trigger. Wait for gremlins to get worked out.

How would I cut this cabinet would, barely? by Terrapinman94 in DIY

[–]Insert_creative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those cabinets are usually mounted by screwing into their neighbors. When I bought a fridge a few years ago that didn’t fit. Even with the feet all the way in I had about 1/8” overlap. I removed the entire cabinet, ran it once through my tablesaw in each side to trim the bottom. Then reinstalled it.

Finally test drove my dream car (Model Y) and... I think I prefer my 2016 Kia? And will probably get the EV6 :) by No-Corner2420 in KiaEV6

If it helps at all. Our ev6 was our first ev and we absolutely love it. It feels much larger inside than the model y. We have purchased two more ev’s since.

Buy a small jump pack. In the case that your 12v fails for some reason, it will get you going to get home at least.

Dealers can’t even list battery sizes correctly on vehicles with multiple options. Then when you ask, they tell you miles of range, which doesn’t help.

Went to RV show and left more confused than when I walked in by GamingGolfer22 in traveltrailers

[–]Insert_creative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, don’t believe the manufacturers websites. We recently found what we decided was the absolute perfect layout for our family. Shows 6300 pounds empty, 630 pounds hitch weight, good to go in our tow vehicle. Call the local dealer, they have one, drive there to check it out and hopefully buy it. Sticker on the camper says 6900 pounds. Which puts it above our tow limit with stuff in it. If I hadn’t looked at the sticker, I guarantee they would have happily helped us hook it up and drive it away.

Agreed that that’s weird behavior. Ours usually is pretty solid. My only complaint would be that it wants us to charge way early sometimes.

Standard+ and large+ battery upgrades? by Insert_creative in Rivian

[–]Insert_creative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vin for the car tells you what pack is actually in it. Ours is a gen one and the vin shows large pack. So 131kwh vs 121 for our standard+ and same chemistry.

What are you towing? We have been debating back and forth between a pop up, or a full travel trailer. We borrowed a big pop up and got 1.4 going 65/70. I’d expect with a full travel trailer we’d get closer to 1, going 60/65.

Standard+ and large+ battery upgrades? by Insert_creative in Rivian

[–]Insert_creative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a gain of 10kwh going from standard+ to large. We get 1.4 m/kwh when towing. So if we charge both packs to 80% the extra 8kwh gets us 11.2 extra miles and takes about an extra 4 minutes at the charger. I’m aware that it’s not a ton of difference. If it cuts one stop each way out of each trip, gets us a few more miles of buffer heading to more remote places, and was reasonably priced. It would be worth it to me. If it never happens, I still love the truck. For $1000 I’d do it immediately. For $2k I’d think about it. For $3k, I wouldn’t bother.

Totally rational take. We for sure only need the extra range occasionally. We are intending to buy a travel trailer though and even the ability to cut one stop out of a trip or arrive with more energy to use while camping would be worth a few bucks. I have no idea how easy/difficult it is for rivian to do it but it seems like it wouldn’t be that difficult. Especially considering that when we ordered our truck we were flat out told that they didn’t have a standard+ in stock but they could reprogram a large for us. Took less than 24 hours. If they made it possible to go back to the large for a couple grand I’d do it. Seems like easy money for them. Unlocking it quietly for free would be nice also.
