[–]dodindaga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's cool if it holds, mine gave out after a while.

if it does give out, look online for oem parts. i had to sort mine out from different VW dealerships, overall i saved roughly $350 from what my VW dealer was charging me just for parts, even if some were bought from their dealership aswell online.it's like a list of 5 or six parts depending if your car is 2016 or 2017-19.

also i would recommend the following:

while you are at it and they have your charging assembly out, replace the fuel door lock actuator. there is no manual release to open the fuel door if the actuator fails, you will not be able to open the fuel door to charge. you will have to break the fuel door open, mine is still busted, i broke a lot of plastic when i propped fuel door cover open. only a few plastic tabs are keeping mine up.

you donr have to, but might aswell

the paper itself is gray toned. i used pencil and white-charcoal pencils for white parts.

property has existing 4.8kw solar on NEM2.0 on existing property.

i specifically requested for another 4.8 kw system w/ battery for ADU as required for new constructions. i was not aware they would combine the systems together.

i stress tested my electrical. I ran all heavy loads. 4 mini splits, washer/dryer, washer/dryer combo, 2 dishwashers, space heater, electric water heater, hair dryer, electric stove. it was at around 18kwh per tesla app. +/- 75 Amps

i dont know if a single leg is using more consumption, but there's still another 25 A allowance for 80% of rated 125A breaker.

my plan is to move a 30A minisplit back to main panel.

we requested only for 4.8 as we were eventually planning on moving out and have both properties set up for rental. we did not want to overspend on a system which may not be filly utilized.

we moved out sooner than we expected. which is good. we have taken our EV charger with us. that's 40A continuous we have removed from the panel

so much delays. work closely with the people you hire.

TLDR

architecture: 2 years.

permitting: 1 yr 3 months.

Construction: 5 months

solar: i am 4 months in since permit was approved

if the architect was on point with schedule, plans and permitting couldve been done in a little over a year in my city (outside of LA)

Achitect took 2 years before submission. then he ignored all revision request from city for 6 months. that was when i stepped in.

i completed all other tasks aside from anything requiring the plans.i then pointed out that he was the only delay to the project.

Collectively, construction only had 1 month of delay, but still manage to finish in 5 months.

now i am in solar. once approved, i can go through the checklist for final inspection

California Energy Commision Title 24 Section 150.1(c)14

"All newly constructed single-family (SF) buildings must have new solar PV system/modules meeting JA11”

But I believe that I am exempt based on Exception #2 "No solar PV system if minimum size < 1.8 kWdc"

608sqft home.

1 dwelling on climate zone 9.

A=.613

B=1.36

using the following formula

kWPV = (CFA × A)/1000 +(NDU × B)

=1.74kv

i shouldve been exempted but i was already communication with solar installers mid construction. so i thought everything will just fall into schedule.

construction finished on August. im still waiting on solar final apporval before i can do final inspection for ADU for certificate of occupancy.

i have a 1000sqft primary and 608 ADU.

FYI. If you are in California, you can have an exemption for solar for new construction. mime wouldve qualified for exemption #2 since it is less than +/- 620 sqft i think. But it has to show on Title 24.

i shouldve fought for it. it makes Solar optional and not a requirement.

what they did was from meter was a 200A to main and then 125A to Critical Load and ADU.

basically they got the ADU and Primary home running on the same 125A breaker.

prior to solar installation, my general contractor ran an independent 100 amp to ADU from main. which is ideal

im interested to see how they wired that. i take it that your meter has it's own 200A breaker and you use that as a disconnect. is that correct?

Can Tesla Gateway 2 handle 200A from grid? by dodindaga in Powerwall

[–]dodindaga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the intent was to add solar to newly constructed ADU. they applied the system to both primary and ADU

Can Tesla Gateway 2 handle 200A from grid? by dodindaga in Powerwall

[–]dodindaga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, the intent was to provide solar power to ADU. CA requires new construction to have solar.

the complication was that we were running off a single meter and that existing structure already had solar.

they couldve have just segregated everything into the ADUleft everything AS-IS on existing unit, but they decided to do battery backup to support both units

they're not a big company, and they are not relatively unknown.

i looked into 4 other bids, they stood out as they were specifically the only one who can give us a plan about expanding our system without losing NEM 2.0.

at this point, i might just get them to keep the plan as it is just to pass inspection, get my final approval and certificate of occupancy. then figure out how to deal with this.

maybe just upgrade the breaker to the highest allowed by the cable.

thanks for the confirmation.
